An Australian BF2 e-radio (www.netgameradio.com) did a phone interview with a Dice Live Manager on their BF2 show, Inside Battlefield. I didn't listen in sadly, but afaik the Dice guy said something big is going to happen on Monday, the 3rd b'day of BF2 and the day BC comes out:

"Hot off our phone conversation with DICE Live Manager, John Hargelid, get ready for some EXCLUSIVE information about Battlefield 2! This information has not been released as yet, your friends at netGameRadio are about to deliver world exclusive news regarding your favourite game.

Want more info? Then you will HAVE to tune in to tomorrow night's gigantic Inside Battlefield Show!"

Everyone I've spoken to has said that it's a new patch, but don't take my word for it in case we're dissapointed on Monday. Either the guy is BSing the Australian BF2 public, or something fun is gonna happen on Monday. (hopefully not Wake 2008 >_>

And in case you didn't get the memo, Halo pretty much set the standard for vehicles in FPSs.

Sweet, thanks for the info, wave. TBH I'd rather have news of maybe a BF3 being in the works, but barring that a patch for BF2 would certainly be good news. I wonder if they're going to add widescreen support to it like they did for BF2142 in patch 1.5? Since they're the same engine I couldn't imagine it being too much of a stretch (*rim shot*) for them to patch it into BF2 as well.

As for Wake 2008, I'm sure that was just a jest, since 2142 just got Wake with the last patch a month ago. Whatever it is, for once I'll actually be looking forward to Monday. :p

And don't get too excited people, I don't want it to be a bunch of crap and nothing happens on Monday. Then have an angry mob come after me.

But from this interview it seems legit, along with everyone I've spoken to, and it is the 3rd birthday of BF2 (did anyone notice that? o_o)

I was just thinking about that the other day, actually, how it had been 3 years since BF2 came out. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago. Guess I'm just getting old. :p

I don't think it's gonna be anything special at all, I expect some sort of gimmicky add-on related to Bad Company. A patch would be nice though, extra infantry map; DO WANT.

Dude there's an entire expansion pack of nothing but infantry maps. :p Although the last map we got was Tampa so if it's a new map it probably will be mroe infantry-oriented. I wouldn't mind seeing one where MEC and PLA square off, though. Then again the J-10 would slaughter the MiG, too. =/

I am hoping for a patch to polish off all the remaining blemishes. I am not in the mood to download another map, and have the majority of the community ignore it like Tampa. : / But if the map was included in the patch it would work out a lot better. I would love a Songhua Stalemate like map, but with Assault mode for less flag tag. Heck, even add in a few planes, because we all know the J-10 will be balanced. : D

How about some manual artilery being added again? In my not so humble opinion the biggest failure EA made was making the artilery point and click rather then tactially useful like the artilery was in BF1942

Tampa is great! you won't find another armor map like it in the game. plus if you're lucky enough to get in the jet you can easily have a perfect round,barring interference from the trees and fences...

Lately I have been able to get into the =SF= tampa server during the day time and get the jet without any trouble. And yes, I do go perfect each time... until the UAV spawns in my flight path. : p

Karkand reminds me of Aberdeen and El Alamein, both of which were gorgeous maps. I don't play Tampa in BF2 much but I play on Moongamer's 24/7 Tampa Conquest server in BF2142. The kind of fun you'd never find on Gibraltar. I've only played Tampa on BF2 a couple of tmes but it's a great map, second only (IMO) to Operation Road Rage, and maybe Harvest.

And here I was thinking that only happened to me. I managed to get the J-10 on Dalian and was splashing all the F35s and having a merry old time until all of a sudden BAM I'm 'no more'. I just chalked it up to karmic revenge.

The spaciousness of Karkand with its large tank battles draws strong comparisons to El Alamein and Aberdeen. I totally agree! : p
