I hope this game has a better loot system.

Hey all, I can't be the only one who though BL1's loot system blew, it sucked that enemies droped what they were using because you never ever would get anything good. I hope bl2 uses a diabloish loot system where they can drop really anything. I liked borderlands 1 but one of my major issues was how i pretty much had to depend on the shops to ever find a decent weapon due to the piss-poor drop system the game used. Any idea if this is fixed for borderlands 2 at all?

Lol, I think maybe you are.

I half agree.
I hope they put some armour into the game, too, not just shields.

Enemies could drop weapons they weren't using.
Shops in Borderlands 1 were more highly restricted in what weapons could appear than what could be dropped, they were just easier to farm without any real effort.

What? All the good guns came from bosses or special chests. I thought the amount of change was actually quite good until you got to end game and started farming the same stuff.

In BL, I only really used the shop at the start of the game. I found the weapons found off enemies or in chests were much better than shop weaponry. Esp. if you are the kind of gamer who won't leave an area until every quest is complete

I don't have any problems with the loot system, except when I just can't find a good specific type of gun. Then, when I'm level 45 and still using a lvl 25 repeater, I get a little annoyed.

This is the nature of RNG loot and is present in most games like this (Action RPG-ish stuff).

On one playthrough of BL2, I managed to get 7, SEVEN, Combustion Hellfire SMGs. For a Firefly Lilith, that's basically the best gun in the game, and I got enough of them that I always had one that was near my level after I got the first.
The level 60 or so one was crazy OP...
So yeah, I'd say the loot system works just fine.

Judging by your post, you had no idea. Obviously, you can't find a specific gun because that's not how the loot system works. I felt I should enlighten you. No need to go hormone filled, raging preteen on my ass.

As long as there is just more of it and a bit of chance to decide what to use being more of a factor.. I might have just been really lucky, but I got pretty good guns and never changed them for the longest time, so it wasn't really much of a loot hunt - just killing because. Everything I found was worse or about the same, nothing to get excited about.

i'm not a huge fan of the random weapon drops either, which is why i liked to do that duplication trick... normally i absolutely stay away from glitches and exploitation, but when it takes 4 seconds to get a better gun that i have been trying to get for hours, i'm going to copy that right now...
what i really want is the ability to take parts from guns you collect and transfer them to a gun you want to upgrade... adding a scope from one gun to another, or a larger magazine from one gun to another... of course, from the same class of gun, pistol to pistol or SMG to SMG... don't get me wrong, an assault magazine on an SMG would be awesome i know...
i would like more control over how awesome my weapons are, not just waiting for the good things to fall from the sky...

I believe I heard somewhere that elemental resistance is going to be more dominant. You know how in the General Knoxx DLC, there were elemental Lance Guard? Dunno about everyone else, but I'm playing through that for the first time, and I'm switching between elemental shields like crazy. I'm getting the impression that there will be more elemental enemies this time around, which admittedly means little if you don't typically use elemental guns.
Past elements, I just use what I feel like using at the moment. Sometimes I want to pound faces in with a shotgun. Others, I want to hold down the trigger and unload a thousand bullets (and miss half of them - that's half the fun!). As for having to decide? To an extent, that sounds fun, but having to go in and swap weapons too often may get a little bothersome.

You're not a very good judge of posts then, apparently. I never said I expected to find a specific gun, and I have no idea why you were trying to argue that point in the first place. What in my two word post gave you the impression I was "raging on your ass"? The post was meant to imply that you were trying to point out something so obvious that everyone in the thread already understands it. I'm not mad at you because you were trying to point out the obvious or misinterpreted my post, and I'm not mad at you now, but I do wonder why you're so defensive about it.

As with a few others, I wasn't TOO bothered with the loot system in the first game.
I would almost always have a least one "Good" gun from each of 2-3 types, so the rest just went toward selling to buy the occasional daily weapon in the shops, or for the ridiculously expensive ammo capacity upgrades later on.
Yeah, there's an absolute s*** load of garbage. But there's JUST enough good guns in between to make it worthwhile. And it's more exciting to find an amazing gun in a world of absolute trash guns, than to find a good gun in a field of average guns.
