- Difficulty:
- Very Hard
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Underappreciated"
For starters, Chaos Legion is a very different game from the Devil May Cry series, though there are some similarities, it is very different. This game is very fun but gets very hard, very fast. It often bombards your character with multitudes of enemies at a time! How to deal with it is where the interesting part comes in. Seige (the main character) can summon his own monsters known as Legions who assist him with countering the flood of enemies that often come at one time (for all Final Fantasy fans, think of the Espers and Eidolans from FFXII and FXIII respectively). These Legions can also level up and grow in power to better assist Seige in his hacking and slashing. However, even with the assistance of the Legions, their power is limited and they themselves can be overpowered by enemy forces just as the player can...this is where the difficulty comes in.
My Breakdown:
What's Good:
- Unique gameplay experience for its time
- Nice alternative to the usual DMC gameplay
- Multiple Legions to chose from = Multiple Strategies against hords of enemies and bosses
- Great graphics for its time
What's Not-So-Good:
- The story could get a bit confusing at times
- *SPOILER ALERT* Teasing you with an almighty Legion in the beginning of the game, stripping you of it, and making it significantly weaker when you get it back towards the end *END SPOILER*
- The "legion" of powerful enemies can be a bit overwhelming at times
What's Bad:
- Not being able to jump at will!!!! Sure some of your combos may cause you to hack and slash the enemies in mid air but there is no button or button combination to jump whenever you want. This also makes it harder to avoid large groups of enemies and dodging certain attacks.
In all, C'mon Gamespot...lighten up! This game is far from perfect but I enjoyed it far more than DMC2! Its as equally unquie as it is enjoyable. Its at least worth trying out.

Given the name, I thought this would be a crazy game but it seems to be more interesting then crazy.

Capcom seemed to try too hard to "recreate" something it had already done before and it backfired.
