You still have to wait until 2013 for the actual release, but here's the first official trailer for Company of Heroes 2 to whet your appetite.
@CrysisFPS They will release gameplay, just not in this trailer.
I hope they would make company of Heroes, War on Vietnam. A nice campaign and a destructible environment would make it complete.
now we might see real german vet soldiers who were fighting machines becuse the best germany had to offer was sent to the ussr lands and the russians were brave fighters to not surrender and win the war
@gamingfrendlyYes and no, The USSR was very ill prepared to handle a war at the time thats why they lost so many it dosent help that they didnt even try to warn there people. The opening of the war on the Eastern front was shooting fish in a barrel for Germany.
This is for all those that have whined about wanting a "modern" COH.
What made COH great in the first place was the number of epic and desperate battles against a skilled and determined foe. Nothing in the "modern" era can come anywhere near to the dramatic intensity of WWII.
I'm sorry but a squad of soldiers and a Humvee running across a handful of terrorists who''ll melt into the hills at the first sign of trouble hardly constitutes the basis for an epic COH experience!
What would be exciting though is a COH based on the Korean War. For those too young or just unfamiliar with it, look up the Chosin Reservoir, the Yalu River or Fox Company's defense at the Toktong Pass to name a few. Now that would be intense action true to the spirit of COH.
@Walcheren Korean War would be a great premise, but would not be a good marketing choice. So in knowing where COD is headed (towards greed), they will never make a game based on the Korean War. Battlefield has a better chance at it.
@kengi_ikazuchi Interesting points raised, but I disagree that it would be a poor marketing choice for several reasons.
1) The game would feature all the ingredients that COH is noted for. Among them a classic villain namely North Korea, a heavily militarized rogue state both then and now, giving it an historical and a contemporary touch that many can identify with today.
2) It featured the first open military clash between the two global ideologies, democracy vs. communism, and involved all the world's superpowers to varying degrees.
3) While a great many of the troops committed were American, there were sizeable contingents from a number of UN nations among them Britain and Canada. This would give a huge audience of potential gamers.
4) The campaign featured a diverse number of operations and a vast to and fro of military fortunes. In other words, great COH material.
its cool they are doing the ruskies, but i dunno relic. You've hurt me alot in the last few years...
I love COH, I love WWII, very excited about this. I'm probably the only, but I miss COHO (Company of Heroers Online)...
@PcGamingRig Theres a Mod for the original COH eastern front. Conscripts are not allowed to retreat and comes in a squad of 12 men (6 armed and 6 are meatbags). You can execute 1 of the men for a "fire-up" stance where your could rush through enemy suppression fire.
Well, they had that for all factions in BF1942 so I guess it's a possibility (about being shot for retreating).
they are plenty of games with the "modern" setting.
Now this is FRESH!!! It is true, Allied was only remembered as the US and Russia was forgotten. I'd like to see this. This is a BOLD move.
@BSEE10 not very fresh at all its still a WWII game, the Allies were US and Britain which they are mostly remembered for if you say Russia was forgotten then your history teacher did a bad job, and its not a very bold move at all since all of the Company of Heroes games are set in WWII
avid fan of CoH and all relic games.
man i would really like dawn of war 3 with base building and not just some expansion pack of a different theatre of WWII
