Not buying this game

I'm sure the added details in the game will be nice and the new bosses BUT I think the controls will suck ass I mean just try kicking the knight on the ledge with a keyboard command =) I'm sure the game will do well becase alot of people are strictly PC users I have both but could care less unless this game was Darksouls 2.

Someone explain to me how a gamepad is better than a mouse and keyboard for this game.
Don't bother with "it was designed that way". Go into a little more specifics than that.

Just a console fanboy kid that's frustrated because this game gets a superior release on the PC and he doesn't have a rig powerfull enough to play it, nothing to see here move along.

I think you meant fist-pump.
Also, thanks for sharing OP. Also, you can use a gamepad with a pc. Yep, even a ps3 or xbox 360 controller if that's what you want.

Even Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki said the game is going to be mainly a port and recomments using a gamepad. "Superior release" my buttocks.

- Aug 2, 2012 11:54 am GMTThe proper usage is "couldn't care less" and not "could care less". I cannot understand why people make this trivial grammatical mistake always. Lack of proper schooling perhaps? Another peeve of mine is "your" v/s "you're".

You realise there will probably be a seperate command for kicking.
or someone will mod one in quite quickly, and it's not like kicking in the console versions is reliably doable...

Honestly, I have no idea what the keyboard/mouse controls will be like. I do have a cheap wireless adapter for my Xbox controller, so I can use that easily if the KB setup sucks. Had to do it with Skyrim and several other games with "consolitis".

Some games are made with gamepads in mind, and this game is going to be especially **** with a keyboard. I have well over 300 hours playing dark souls, and the thought of playing it with a keyboard and mouse is laughable. Irregardless of the fact, the developers themselves stated that they arent doing anything to transition this game from consoles to PC, and that its going to be a straight port. That means you better go buy a gamepad (and maybe do a little more research next time). Oh and just so you know, since it is a straight port, it is going to have virtually zero optimization. Enjoy lagging in blighttown on your sli gtx 680s, because i know i will, though i could care less about lag. I just cant wait to hack it up, especially on multiplayer. Since they have admitted they have 0 experience with the PC, i am guessing their anti-cheat wont be too great. 999 in each stat (lol), 1 million damage dagger stabs, 1 billion hp, noclip/fly/hover mode (anti-ledge)... i cant wait.

Such insolence. You will be missing out on some very promising content, cannot wait ! Also, you gripes with the controls should be alleviated with a ps3 controller (or 360..) on PC.

HAHAHA, I have alot of hours on both demon souls and dark souls... I baught both of them since release.
They are finally releasing an edition that has a better multiplayer, has more monsters, and is updateable easier. If you are butt hurt about it not being released on console, maybe you should step back and look at the type of game it is. I am surprised it hasn't been released to PC sooner. The reason it was so popular is because of it's unique gameplay... I am sure the controls will be epic on the computer. WASD movement with turn&pan mouse control, Right button attack, left button shield... mouse button 3-5 can be assigned (I have 7 mouse buttons.) and you can play with just that I am sure!
Easy peasy!

i don't even believe all the crap about only 720p and 30fps being allowed. doesn't seem possible a game would even bother to release for PC if this is the max. i don't even remember the last time i saw a PC game with such low standards. will still be an awesome game and awesome content BUT better not have to play in some tiny-ass window to see decent graphics, 720p stretched looks like crap on anything over 20" and over 900p.- Please wait. The ridiculous part is Half-Life in 1998 had a higher internal resolution than this game in 2012. 1024x768 > 1024x720.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/torment-tides-of-numeneraI posted this on the non DE forum, but the news about how they did the port sounds downright appalling. Reports are that the game will be locked at 30fps and the internal rendering engine only renders at 1024x720 (which is then upscaled to your desired resolution). I'm not sure if I would want to buy this if this is the end result.

If you have a big sprawling strategy game with a bunch of little things to control, a keyboard/mouse setup works great in practice and intuitively, with many commands for many different actions all over the map. Dark Souls will be better with a gamepad because action games typically feel more intuitive with a gamepad. On top of that, Dark Souls' combat is more perfectly designed around a controller than any other action game I have seen, with strong attacks and parry on L2/R2 and normal attack/block on L1/R1. There is a zen simplicity to the way the triggers work with actual combat and the buttons are for other actions, making the combat more visceral and satisfying. But, having spent 150+ hours on Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, I do not see how a keyboard could possibly replicate this experience. I hope this is enough detail for those who haven't played it yet and are still skeptical about using a gamepad, and to those I would say, a gamepad will be almost necessary to getting the full experience.
