This isn't the only mod with its own page. Red Orchestra being another mod.

I beleive it depends if the mod has the backing of a publisher etc. Plus Day Z is hugely popular right now so it makes sense for Gamespot to list it. Furthermore Gamespot will be doing coverage of Day Z soon and would need a hub to do it from

this mod is more deserving to be on this site than any other of the top 10 games right now.  Have u seen the most sold game on steam lately? and its ONLY because of this mod.

DotA never got its own forum so I don't think the "popularity" argument holds.

But that's not true. Check steam statistics page. Dota2 is the second most played game. That's without counting all the millions that played DotA in Warcraft3 before dota2, hon and lol were released.

    Check it by yourself.

That's Steam.  A lot of people may buy the game through Steam, but use Sixlauncher to actually play it.

This game busted a quicky. It blew up quick and its already dead.

Server lists are going down. Population is going down. I guess everyone figured out how to survive and got tired of all their deaths coming from bugs. I guess it was fun for the first month and we could overlook all the bugs, clunky engine, and even a 500ms+ lag feeling while pinging 25ms. After a while, the game has nothing left. Theres nothing to do in the game once you master survival other than try to find other players only to engage in the worst FPS experience of any game... might as well play another FPS if you want that. What else is there to do?? Wait around until your next bugged out death or see how many times you can log in and out before you load up naked with no backup or weapons?

great potential.. i'll wait for a clone that can maybe execute it better.

Dota was a WC3 CUSTOM GAME not a fully-dev Mod.  if you wanted to talk about dota you joined WC3 forums. anyway back in the days gaming websites weren't as big as today
