They announced that if you want to play solo you will not have an AI following you around. That's great cuz coop AI generally suck and I don't want to have to baby sit them.

Would personally love to be able to coop with a friend who owns a console and me on PC, please make this happen EA, there's not imbalance need to be considered. :)
EA, please, launch Crysis 1 and Far Cry 1 for PS3. At least on PSN. I hate this disorder in game series, just like Capcom almost did with RE4 for PS2 and did with Dino Crisis 3, RE0 and RE Remake. If it is to release a series for a console, so just release the whole series, all the games.
Looks like Killzone 3 & Lost Planet, I hated both. The Dead Space awesomeness is gone, I really hope the game doesn't look like this...
@burrito_tester I only agree that Lost Planet series sucks. A very bad game, and the first is the worst of the three.
The first thought crossed my mind 'is there gonna be local coop?', or is just online only. Clearly they're taking the action route so I say why not.

How many more games are there they can get their hands on and destroy? Has anyone counted them? I mean, might as well prepare ourselves; try to prevent or at least weaken the pain and sorrow.
Anyone notice how Isaac and his "buddy" were using guns rather than the unconventional mining tools that made up the primary weapons of previous games.

This was the last horror survival franchise , and used to be a good one , this demo of the coop is totally action packed , removing the appeal of the origins of the franchise. must wait for the interview at E3 floor
The demonstration of DS3 was probably the sadest moment for me this E3. Such a fantastic IP that's just getting worse and worse as it's losing more of its identity.
for some reason ppl think that the game is scary but i think its not scary at all so adding co-op isnt anything that will ruin the game for me. in fact i really like the action in the game. its more like ds2 than ds1. ds1 was a bit boring from time to time because it didnt have as much action as ds2.
i hope dead space won't turn as a Resident Evil kind , with too much action and no mor survival

Please don't ruin the best survival horror franchise of this genaration...don't go down the RE route.
Man Dead space revived survival horror for this generation. Now it looks to be going the way of the mass effect games and being Codified.
My thoughts exactly, seems Isaac isn't an Engineer any longer. More of a mercenary/soldier
I wonder why they ask out loud about local splitscreen coop while complaining about loosing the scary desolate feeling, if there's one thing that would completely destroy that it's if you're sitting next to your friend babbling and laughing while playing this game. OFcourse it's better that the coop is online, at least that can retain the feeling that at least you are alone, in your room :P being alone in the game doesn't mean that it will get any scary. What happens if your partner dies ? :P even in left 4 dead if you end up alone it's thats more scary :P
OMFG you cannot have a proper survival horror experience if A ur gonna have a guy with you like all the time and B if you are going to be engaging in shootouts with other humans alot. coop is good but dont force it on someone who wants to experience the single player horror that is dead space. ds3 was gonna be cancelled by ea because it didnt copy like any other game so ea forced visceral to include coop and more shooting in the game. ea is only interested in making more money and since coop shooters are popular right now they forced visceral to make that out of DS3 effectively ruining it. its true look it up. this is not visceral's ds3 i hope after this game visceral devs quit and form an independent company
@Hevion No one is forcing anyone to play the co-op. It's just an addition. There is still the stand alone Single Player mode.
if they go full action..then Dead space is dead to me. resident Evil 6 bla too. :(:(
i recommend Dayz mod for ARMA 2 for survival horror or Amnesia. Almost this entire generation of AAA gaming is going into 3rd person action land only. :(:(:(:( with the exception of SKYRIM and very few others.
Maxwell was doing a hair flip before they started the video!! How cute, but hey he's solid in my book. Also I think the separate vocal along with the split screen would be better and less of a headache. I hope they make it a horror game like the other three because you can take in so much action ;)
Having to hug a wall, not so bad...? Doing a roll to get away faster, not so great.... Finally having someone along with you to wipe your ass, PRICELESS....!!!!
I WAS really excited for Dead Space 3. It really showed Resident Evil how it's done this gen, but no. R.I.P
1 Like I really don't know what to feel about the co-op. It's not needed in this franchise because it's all about being in the dark and getting scared on your own. Is it possible to achieve that with 2 people?

@Gelugon_baat saucex is right. Though Dead Space is my favourite, Dead Space 2 didn't lose any identity. You probably are saying this because lots of youtube videos show more of the "Wow, Giant monster and explosions!" part of the gameplay, but even these characteristics are developed with a lot of the horror atmosfere the game aways did.
@Gelugon_baat You made my point perfectly clear in your comment. You can only comment on how scary the game "SEEMS" to be, and unfortunately seems is not as accurate as actually playing the game, with a controller and controlling the character as you face those possibly "scary" moments.
There is a scare factor to watching something, but when you are in the heat of the moment, and have to....run away from something let's say...that requires you to input action and that part you cannot possibly get from watching a video.
You're entitled to your opinion of course, but so am I, and from experience I say DS2 was a more polished, and scarier game than DS1. Both games are great.
@Gelugon_baat Don't comment on the experience of a game that you haven't played. -_- I have played both games and DS2 had more jump scare factor than the first one. I also played the beta of the multiplayer and the actual release multiplayer, and it was another aspect of the game, but not really the best part.
I don't get why publishers don't understand this. You DONT NEED to turn every game into an action flick. Not ALL genres have the same presence. This is what happens when you make games for money, instead of making a product for a particular consumer in order to make money.
Not all games need to be dumb down for the average consumer. Not all games need to be action.
I think everything that I loved about the first two Dead Space games is being brought into this game, but improved on, excluding the horror aspect of it mostly, which I am OK with. I don't play Dead Space because I want to play a horror game anyways.

@PrplMnkyDshwsr7 I definitely agree. EA is really destroying these great developers -_- I'm so sad that DICE, Visceral, and Criterion are with EA. This is what happens when corporates who don't know how to type on a keyboard, or hold a controller get their hands on software.
OMG it's called a glass eye or transplant (both of which we have NOW btw) or it's a bionic implant to go with the whole "future" vibe. What is so hard to grasp about this?
2 Like I don't want the co-op to be persistent like RE where someone is there whether you are actually playing with someone or not. I think that would seriously hurt the game. The isolation in the other ones did a lot for creating the atmosphere. Plus the tight spaces heightened the tension. I worry they're going to loose too much of that with this new one.
