This new Developer Diary for Deus Ex: Human Revolution shows off the first part of the game and different ways you can maneuver through the world.
@THUGDRAFT I assume they are trying to appeal to a more modern audience kids who are used to recharging health Halo, gears, COD I think it's a shame aswell they should have kept a few more rpg elements
This doesn't look good. Why make it first person and third person hybrid game? Do it optional or stick to one of them instead.
@THUGDRAFT To crawl to a mechanical drone to get legs rebuilt? Are u kidding me?! Lol, now I heard what I needed to play those games; it's a shame I had the chance to play this masterpiece and didn't play yet... And that was 11 years ago, like you said, imagine those features in a game nowadays.
I'm really disappointed with the standardized "recharging health while in cover" mechanic in this game (see 2:35-2:54 in the video). Hell, in the first Deus Ex, you could get one or both of your legs blown off! You literally then had to crawl to a mechanical drone to get them rebuilt so that you could walk normally again... In fact, your head, torso, each arm, and both legs all had their own 0-100 health meter (and they didn't auto-heal). And that was 11 years ago. Weird that they went in such a different direction in this game...
They should add red splotches or bullet wounds to go to with the blood spray. Would make the game more realistic feeling.
is this seriously the best narrator they could find for this video? she sounds bored out of her skull.. I've always liked these games but I hope this video is just a bad example of the "different ways" to do things because if shooting guys is as easy as they showed, why on earth would you take the extra time to be sneaky? Also, why have FPS games gotten away from showing your shoulders/body/etc? They were starting to get good at it with games like Breakdown and Riddick but then they just went back to you being invisible.. Oh well, I'm just being picky because I have high hopes for this one..
I think I must be the only person on the planet who isn't hyped for this game. The initial trailer looked pretty impressive but a little "Holleywoody". This gameplay vid just makde it look like an avg FPS game with stealth elements and multiple paths. Very meh for me... surprisingly!
@XxSUPERSNAKExX : It's a FPS game that switches to TPS view whenever you are behind cover, or do an insta-kill move. Though, I'd prefer if they added a full, TPS view mode as a bonus after you finish the game. That would be really awesome :)
looks like they took there time and are doing it right. Not just a rushed, made for profit hack of an older game.
another game made for xbox 360 and ps3? another game that has to get held back by graphics hardware that is 6 years old? game technology is standing still because everybody has these crappy consoles. 6 YEARS OLD!!! PCs have come light years since then and the games could be awesome.. but no.... this sucks.
reminds me a lot of the old splinter cell games, except that its in first person view instead of third person. I like how it alternates between first and third person view here though :)
@Ravenchrome or you could try pronounce in portuguese... Deus is god in portuguese and we don't say it like "deuce" more like "dells"
That pattering sound when climbing the ladder is actually quite satisfying. Like when a microwave dings.
Is that seriously how the name is pronounced? Like "Day-us"? I always thought it was pronounced more along with lines of "Deuce".
Why does this guy sound like Gabe Logan from Syphon Filter? Seriously he does it brings back some fun memories LOL!
@SachBro Looks like everything except his head is robotic. Probably has no penis either. No hoochie coochie for him.
@jjmullen763 Well thanks, and I was only mad because you two butchered my comment into a fanboy rant. No, I have no problem with the characters in Deus Ex, I was only comparing similarities in the two. I only wanted to state the obvious because I'm not the only one who noticed this. Also, calling me dumb and saying Deus Ex came out first was not very cool of you on your part, but I accept your comment and forgive you. Yes it is stupid to see a similar character get discouraged even though that character is in a different game genre... but that is not what I did, I merely stated similarities for fun. I played Deus Ex, and loved it, and yes I do prefer MGS over it, but that does not make me a fanboy, and yes I apologies for calling you a fanboy since you never played past number 1 and 2 of the MGS series, let alone the Metal Gear series. In conclusion it's all a misunderstanding and no matter what anyone says, Deus Ex: Human revolution will be a fantastic game an- Wait a second, that guy he talks to on the phone reminds me of Otocon. O.o
@dxBIGBOSSxb yes guy you are right about them facts, something i didnt know. it was so long ago that i played both deus ex the original and mgs. im not a fan boy of anything, but when you get people saying that the character of this game is just solid snake with a different name its just a bit stupid. i have never played mgs3 but i have played the first 2 and there just totally different games, with similar types of gameplay
@dublet13 Wow bro will u never lose ur temper?? u really are a very polite person,i shud be more like u.Anyway bro thanx fr correcting me, i will remember u as a person who taught me difference between FPS and RPG,THNX
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTwqe07VBoo This gameplay vid doesn't have the Yellow outlines around interactive objects so it must be an option you can toggle on and off or it may be based on game difficulty either way its not a must so people can stop whining about the game holding your hand for you. Also this game is as similar to MGS as MGS is to Final Fantasy as Final Fantasy is to NHL 2011, in other words the similarity is that its a game, thats about where the similarities stop, if you are going to compare Deus Ex to another franchise it would be either the Elder Scrolls games or Fallout 3/NV as its a first person action RPG whereas MGS is a 3rd Person stealth game.
@gvp014 Sure you have been. That is why you compared two linear action adventure games with an action rpg with many choices. Don't get mad because you're wrong/
@dublet13 hey first of all let me get this straight,i have been playing video games since the age of 4 when u were sucking milk and i know more about gaming and i have definitely played more games than u so shut it and dont pretend to know about this game cuz u dont and lets see how this game performs when it is out
@jjmullen763 Are you dumb "mate". Honestly, are you. Do your research, you and that DeckardLee2010 guy! Metal Gear came out in 1987. Metal Gear Solid came out in 1997. Deus Ex came out in 2000. So no, MGS came out first, end of story, you are just wrong... fanboys *sigh* they're just not worth it. Of course I mean you, and if you respond insulted you shouldn't, because honestly you should know better. >:( So don't come on thumbs downing peoples comments and insulting them just because your a fanboy and have no idea what you are talking about.
@DeckardLee2010 Metal Gear came out in 1987. Metal Gear Solid came out in 1997. Deus Ex came out in 2000. You don't know anything about games, you are not smart, and you are the fanboy, so blow me.
Deus Ex, is one of the best games made, from its beginning it has not disappointed me in story or game play. I am looking forward to playing it soon, actually, I can't wait.
@lordofallpies I only see the gameplay in the above video, so I have no idea is it an FPS RPG or not like mass effect because everything in RPG depends your selection of thoughts and what you speak. But all I know is that the game looks really cool
@jriddle89 Yeah I am agree with you people like to compare only the top games and that is what going on here
@devrindare I know they are different, but I know most of the CoD/Halo generation gamers are going to compare this to Mass Effect. I hope this game meets our expectations and if it does, it will be better than ME.
This is Definetly a must have for me, how many other cyberpunk games do you see out there. Also the blend of FPS and RPG are a great mix for me as I don't like a straight up shooter like CoD but I do love games like Borderlands.
@lordofallpies ok, we can say that its a mix of a kind where shooting & moving is in 1st person mode, while hiding & stabbing in 3rd person mode. But still it is different from Mass Effect
