If it's not server lag...something is definitely wrong.

D3 is not that demanding of a game.

People say I'm crazy , but the voices in my head tell me I'm just fine.

Try updating your drivers mate.. we have the same video card and i can max everything using a 1920x1080 resolution.

    My specs:

    AMD 955BE OC to 3.7ghz

    4gb CL7 DDR3

    GTX 460 OC

It works like a charm to me!

The system does have a fresh os reinstall using Win 7 about six months ago

    I have an intel core2duo 2.4 ghz - 4gb - GTX460 - WinXP

I run it at all max settings on 1080p with no lagg. Smooth as butter. Check your graphics drivers?

Maybe a slow internet connection could lagg the game down? I wouldnt know since i have 50Mbit/25Mbit line, but maybe somebody knows.

My brother runs it on max 1050p on his portable, so it doesnt demand much hardware to run.

I agree that this game is not demanding at all. A GTX 460 will easily maintain 60fps with vsync on with the highest settings @ 1920x1080. I also noticed that it doesnt really take advantage of more than 2 cores just like SC2.

Are you referring to the stuttering?  I have 460 SLi and I had to enable V-synch to make it a smoother.  But even though it says I'm getting 60 FPS, I notice the games stutters still a little, clearly not hardware related.  Or at least I think...

Yes, there is something wrong with the game.  I have a 460 and it was practically unplayable on my i7 rig.  What I found to work really well was ctrl alt delete, going to the d3.exe in processes and setting the processor affinity to one or two cores.  It seems to run worse spread out over more cores.  I still get occasional stuttering, otherwise though its a lot better.  If you have at least 8 gigs of ram you can load it to ramdisk too, that seems to really be helping people out.

I don't know when blizzard is going to fix this problem.  I figured it would have happened already but apparently their attention is being diverted by other things.  I would happily have waited another few months for them to actually optimize the game.  Anyway, try that, hopefully it works out for ya. Good luck.

It sounds like it's a hardware specific problem. There are different core i7's and different gtx 460s. Some could be going bad. I have a core i7 k version and two gtx 460s in sli and I haven't had any issues so far. I also have run it on two other computers with different hardware and it's worked fine. It's hard to say what is wrong for sure. As one poster suggested changing the core affinity might work. It helped me with knights of the old republic 1 and 2.

Have you recently updated the nvidia drivers to R3 version?

I have a GTX 460 from Asus and I found that, after the R3 driver's update and playing one or two games, card becames to slow down. And it is after exiting the game, like it doesnt free up "something". Reboot is the only way to reset the card.
