Wow Lord Bacon. Sweet logic there.

I love the game. I mean I really love it. It's awesome. I decided to purchase the game and have absolutely got my money out of it. I love playing it with friends and I had a blast this weekend finishing NM with them.

That being said, I still think it would be nice to have an offline option. So discussing why this would be nice makes a person a moron?

    That's pretty incredible.

At least the Blizzard defense squad is always entertaining.

Nice job not being able to read. Allow me to quote one of my own posts from this topic: "Also, a fun fact: This doesn't mean it is wrong to want an offline single player option. But calling Blizzard evil because there isn't one denies all logic and fact."

It's on page 4 (assuming 10 posts per page). Go ahead and give it a read.

Then show me where I called Blizzard evil? In fact, the comment you replied to was my first comment in the thread. There were, however, people saying that the folks complaining were stupid. I'm too lazy to point it out for you.

You're just creating a huge strawman.

I accidentally said the wrong page (but you should have still been able to see the quote from other posts containing it). I did not quote you with that post. I quoted FiendingHard. So, again, Please learn to read.

Furthermore, it isn't a strawman. I suggest you read up on them so you actually know what they are. I was arguing the general response against blizzard that had been appearing in the topic. They claimed Blizzard acted wrongly, when in reality they willfully agreed to the terms they hate. Sure, they didn't say "evil", but nothing about my point is nullified because of that.

EDIT: Actually I see what you intended to say. The post on this page was your first post, yes? But then your argument still doesn't make sense, because I was quoting an earlier post that I made, so I never could have said you called them evil.

You said " Agreeing to terms that you are completely against, of your own free will, and then complaining about said terms does make you a moron."

I never said I was COMPLETELY against the terms. I never positioned myself on the issue whatsoever. That statement alone negated your other statement about suggesting an offline option and that definitely WAS a strawman argument because you have no idea what my position on the issue was.

I also enjoy the repeated ad hominem retort of "learn to read."

Are you going to tell me I don't know what that means either?
  • May 29, 2012 4:51 pm GMT
Just did a Ctrl + F search for "evil".

Never found it in jfernatt's posts.

Again, I'm not saying we shouldn't accept the need for maintenance and the like

    Yes. You are.

"If I need to be online to play, Blizzard needs to be online when I want to play" means they're not allowed to do maintenance.

"If I bought it, I'm entitled to play it." means they're not allowed to do server maintenance.

Server maintenance is part of an online-only title. So is server trouble. So is patches, and all manner of downtime.

If you don't like it, you shouldn't have bought it.

If your complaint is "I bought this but now I don't like because of things that were stated before I bought it", gtfo. Return it, if you REALLY feel the need.

If your complaint is "I didn't buy this, because _____", great. Let Blizzard know. Pro tip, that doesn't involve posting on gamefaqs.

Clearly you don't know what it means. A retort, for retort's sake, is not ad hominem. Ad hominem exists when your conclusion is attacked by insult to your person. Simple insult does not rise to that level.

Nice job, once again, not being able to read.

I said that agreeing to terms that you are completely against, of your own free will, and then complaining about said terms does in fact make you a moron. As in, generally.

I did not single you out in any way.

Here is your post: "TIL that disliking one aspect of a product you purchased and voicing your opinion about it makes you a moron."

You are making a generalization. I pointed out your generalization is wrong and made a more accurate generalization.

Seriously, where is it that I am saying that you said these things? Because im making it quite obvious i'm talking in general.

My response to you was as follows: "These people are more than welcome to discuss legitimate gameplay concerns and the like (though they should really do it on Blizzard's forums so that Blizzard will actually read it). But logical people are a minority on internet boards."

Notice how I'm not referring to you?

More like, if you feel compelled enough to complain, you need to re-evaluate your life.

Blizzard has the right to do this in the name of their own interests, I support them on this, I realize it is 100% for their protection and not mine. Guess what I do if the servers are down? Something else. Shocking, isn't it. I bet most of the people who are whining about DRM are the same people downloading games left and right.

Customer is always right, or do you not get how capitalism is supposed to work?

The customer is NOT always right, thats a horrible delusion created by consumers who dont get their way on things they themselves know they shouldnt get their way on, but refuse to accept it and instead whine and cry about it til someone caves

i dont know how many times a customer came into my office depot, no reciept or no box, missing a part, claiming it didnt work, etc, and demanded we return it for them, because "they spend a lot of money here frequently" the rules dont change just cause your a frequent customer or a customer at all

"If Blizzard expect you to be always online to play their game. Then Blizzard need to always been online whenever you want to play it".

One can not possibly say it better than that...

I am willing, even if it means "always online" for SINGLE PLAYER MODE, if that's what I must do... However in return for the requirement of me, I require that Blizzard themselves be "ALWAYS ONLINE" save for routine maintenance and the like... But this isn't even in the same universe as "routine maintenance"... This is an Epic Level Charlie Foxtrot, with THREE SOCKETS, all plugged up with [fossilized turd gems of incompetence] (chipped of course)...

This debacle since launch day, which was also botched, isn't providing what the customers have paid for...
That's all I want, a game I can play when I damn well feel like playing it...
Which is now, but I can't, because it's online only...
Peachy! Then I will just log into the server and play right?
Nae Nae, it's down, yet again, because one of the myriad hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, or other assorted rodentia used to power Blizzard's server facility fell off the running wheel that powers it...

Well that's great and wonderful, but they are the ones that "fornicated the canine" on this, and made a server/network comprised entirely of dust-particles holding hands...

If the single player mode was actually single player, people could still play, entirely unfettered by the digitized Chernobyl Blizzard's servers/network is/are experiencing until such time as Blizzard is able to discern, identify, and generally unscrew whatever is screwed up at the moment...

But of course, none of us in the Beta test ever mentioned anything like that on a DAILY BASIS to them... No no, nobody ever had the foresight to tell them, EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE ENTIRE BETA TEST, that "making the game always online means the servers crapping out would mean the entire game craps out"...

Oh wait a minute... I think I recall some people saying that... Daily... Many times per day... Every day, of the entire beta test...

This fine reply needs more credit.

Then you haven't read this topic very well. Agreeing to terms that you are completely against, of your own free will, and then complaining about said terms does make you a moron.

Terms that are presented to you after you paid for the product, unless you went out of your way to search about the product beforehand, which despite what GameFAQers think is not, and by all means should not be required to be, the normal procedure for gamers around the world.

But logical people are a minority on internet boards.

I agree. I mean, just look at the number of people trying to justify what Blizzard does, against all logic.

Except i'm talking only about the terms that are right there on the effing box. Also, like others in this board you provide no reasoning, no evidence, no logic whatsoever, and also can't read. I've specifically pointed out the terms on the box multiple times. So, nice job proving me right.

With that said however, people should definitely research the product they intend to buy. Its funny you think that educating oneself on what one intends to spend money on is too much to ask, when in reality that is exactly what an intelligent person would do. Smart people are smart because they researched and learned about things they would otherwise be ignorant of.

You don't have to provide evidence and reasoning when it's already been provided in the topic.

You're wrong, and you should feel bad for the position your taking. I could see why that person claiming truth would irk you.
