Torchlight 2 will be here shortly.

This is nearly hilarious to read, just because for someone like myself there is no such thing as a "good" diablo-style game.

However, that being said, here's a list of things in memory regardless of age.

Icewind Dale was popular with a cousin of mine. I couldn't get into it, but that was mostly due to my diablo lust.

Dungeon siege is.... alright, I guess. certainly DS2 has some great design to it, I remember enjoying it quite a lot back when I played it, but now that I own a copy thanks to a steam deal I can;t even will myself to install it.
Don't you DARE however buy dungeon siege 3. You would not find a more steaming piece of crap if you saw the devil drop a deuce right in front of you.

I'm told the Legend of Grimrock is also good, but I hate the person who gave it to me so I wont be finding out for myself.

surprised no one mentioned titan quest yet. thinking about giving that a try

I was addicted to Sacred 2 for like 200 hours.

I think the best part of the game was that you could press one button to pick up the loot around you. And you could even specify to only pick up items of a certain grade.

Before torchlight came out, I remember a game that torchlight got many of it's ideas from, like pets that ran items back to town, and fishing... stuff like that. It was called Fate. It's a bit dated now, but I really enjoyed it when it was fresh.

closest would be torchlight 2 i guess, although it is supremely overhyped to be honest, the only reason i'm getting it is because it's $20

to be honest you should just play d2 some more. it's never going to get any better then that

I recall my brother saying they closed servers recently. Might want to look it up if anyone's interested in the game

I only ever played solo anyways so it shouldn't stop someone from experiencing this game

Path of Exile (http://www.pathofexile.com/) is also a great dungeon crawler with a very gothic diablo 2esq like setting. I think it can easily give this series a run for the money. It's currently in beta yet I believe will be free soon.

titan quest was awesome, tons of class combos you could mix and match and lewts.... soooo muuuch lewts!!!!
dungeon siege 2 was fun, your companions were playable and you could switch between them. whatever you do STAY AWAY FROM dungeon siege 3! it was pure crap and anyone who had anything to do with it should never touch a game again

You really have to try NOX, it's not just a diablo clone, it's the closest thing to diablo I've ever played, I even liked more than diablo 2.

    Well...

Torchlight was OK. Armor system was easily abusable, though...

Sacred 2 was dull. Lots of generic content, boring skills, boring enemies, and for what it's worth I didn't like the art style.

Dungeon Siege 2 was great, and it was actually sorta different since you have a party to fool around with instead of just one guy.

Honestly, I prefer Angband, but I'm really old school and I don't think anyone born after 1990 will tolerate ASCII graphics.

According to wikipedia, at least one of the devs that made TL, also made Fate.

D3 was far, far worse in that respect.

I'm told the Legend of Grimrock is also good

It starts out promising, but the mechanics are broken as ****, one of the three classes is incredibly crappy (the mage), and the only way to play is to kite kite kite kite kite, because standing toe to toe with anything after the first half dozen levels will murder your entire party in three rounds... but if you side-strafe you can kill basically anything with one naked character.

I did enjoy the puzzles and atmosphere, but other than that it was pretty bad.

    Path of Exile

Is honestly not all that good.

Field of vision is so limited that ranged classes are virtually unplayable (or at the very least you might as well be meleeing), you literally can't see more than about ten feet in any direction except toward the top of the screen. There's absolutely zero reason to ever group. And... you know what? I don't want to bash the game. I could go on, and on. But it's not unplayable. The lighting effects and sounds are pretty nice. And I liked the look of spells. But I have quite a few problems with it.

If you want a Diablo game that's not Diablo 3, then maybe someone will enjoy it. But frankly it just came across as being... well, what it is. A free to play game with a cash shop revenue setup.

    What?
Have you actually played anything from the genre aside from those two?

Nox is one of my favourite games of all time, but it's nothing like a Diablo clone aside from some gameplay similarities.
