I like how the Barbarian in the background has like RIDICULOUS muscles EVERYWHERE. "I will snap your neck with my armpit muscles... or my eyelids..." LOL

Maxwell McGee digs up the tech behind Blizzard's Diablo III in this video preview.
@Balidanny STEAM, XBOX LIVE, and PSN lets you play your games in offline mode whenever you want (OBVIOUSLY YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD THEM 1ST). Diablo III will require a PERMANENT connection to the Internet... Some people will never learn >_>
i hate to see this epic game comes to fail. not every internet in each country is great.
At the start Jason tells us that they are finnishing on a nr of gamesystems, this incl. the console version? Also on the board behind him at the start of the interview there is a date October 1 ?? Or am i just wishing out loud. I have all systems but i will buy it for pc, the only reason i would buy it for one of my consoles is if there is a local co-op option on it, online gameplay is fun, but playing Diablo 3 whit one of youre best friends next to you whit some drinks beats all, so i would like an awnser on that the next time you gamespot lucky basterds go to the holy tempel called Blizzard, tnx. Good interview btw.
Hey they want to make Call of Duty an online game only!! Kotick is digging a grave for AB deeper and faster. I would LOVE to see his face when it crumbles!
I'm baffled by all this online only hatred. You guys must also hate Steam, Xbox Arcade, PSN and Onlive as well I take it?? This is the direction the whole industry is going, get used to it.
No offline single player to make it easier to "connect" with others?!?!?! ...in a single player game?!?!?! you are doing this for the players?!?!?! ... And then you insult us by expecting us to buy into this?!?!?! ... a$$hats
For everybody pissed off with Diablo 3 right now, check out the link at the bottom. You'll hate everything about the guys at the top even more who scheme up these greedy business models. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=128252
My buddy showed me a movie a few years ago (not sure where he found it) that showed the new Diablo 3. It was short, but looked awesome. Then I didn't hear anything about it until now, and it looks like they removed the awesome, and made Diablo 2 online only... dissappointed.
well, I am def not buying it now, no offline play or LAN, blizzard will not get my money unless they change it.
A petition has been started for those of you that dislike the decision to exclude the offline single player mode. Please sign if you want offline play included in the final release of the game. Blizzard has yielded to petitions before. Besides, all this would take is less than a day of simple programming/tweaking. Please spread this link around to anyone interested. We are quickly getting more and more signatures, but every signature helps. Lets makes this happen. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/diablo-3-offline-single-player-petition.html
felixmdx SP blending with online + real money AH, will ruin ALL, f bots will spam it full ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Except for the fact that it costs $1 to post something to the auction house. Nobody is gonna want bots spamming their real money onto the AH.
Why will there be no normal offline single player? To make it "easier" to connect with others? Oh, come on! How will I play it if I go on vacation? What if I don't want to connect with others? If you share my thoughts sign this great petition: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/diablo-3-offline-single-player-petition/sign.html
why'd they pull sp and lan and make it online only? why'd they ruin the fun of finding items and trading them? with the real money bids I saw on the AH I assume this game is just going to be full of gold/item farmers.
I think that a lot of people disagree with Blizzard on that issue mostly due to principle. This DRM is a sign of disrespect towards honest customers and no matter how many excuses some may try to give for it, it doesn't change the fact that Blizzard considers you to be a potential pirate and will treat you that way whether you like it or not. Besides, forcing customers to do something they don't like is never a good thing.
@Stallcookie not really, the headline for the article was Real money is virtual money in Diablo III, the title for the video is Diablo III technical video preview (PC), I wish people commmenting on this video would know what they are talking about before they lash out in negativity...
@jpsp1986 yeah from what we've seen so far, it is just Diablo II with a facelift, SINCE WE'VE ONLY SEEN THE GAMEPLAY AND GRAPHICS. What did you expect, there's new classes and a new spell-system, better graphics. What makes or brakes the Diablo series is the story, and since we know nothing about the story, your opinion is invalid. The story is what makes the games different.
Love the political double-speak used when asked about being forced to be online to play the game. He used things that were in Diablo 2 to begin with, as if they were new and innovative, to defend the change that nobody likes. Kind of insulting to the fans, and the fans from the previous games are going to be the main ones who buy this.
Good to hear the words 'public beta' and 'Diablo III' in the same sentence. Yes, my employer can expect to receive a vacation request from me once I have the ability to enter my preorder.
Same game with just a facelift. Starcraft 2 is same as SC1 just with a face lift. Cant believe that with all the money blizzard has, they are not being really innovative. Its not to say the games are bad, but I wish they would do something new for these two beloved series.
This game will no-doubt sale alot of units big-time, I wonder how well it will do tho knowing how many so-called clones like it more or less anyway e.g. Torchlight-1&2, Dungeon Siege-3, Dungeon-Hunter and the like, that are out there right now and will be befor this game ((finally)) comes out?!! I most say tho I do hope it does well! These guy's like that of RavenSoftware IMVHO can make some very enduring game for-sure!!
@valent1n And? It took me all of five to ten minutes to type that up. I fail to see what point you are trying to make. Like I am the only person to ever type more than a one sentence reply. Maybe your brain can only process a few words at a time, but I have no problems thinking and typing more than just one. I know I'm just feeding a troll, but like I said, typing something takes very little time...yes, even something this shockingly "long". @Balidanny And yet, Diablo 2 is still one of the higher selling PC games of all time, and part of the reason blizzard is so big today. Fighting piracy and hacking is fine and all, but they could have figured out some other way of doing so. The people whining about getting in games with hackers should have just left those games and tried to find people that wouldn't hack. Not everyone cares about playing online with others either. A lot of people played Diablo 2 on lan with friends. Will those people still be able to play together? Yeah, but only on battle.net which is a joke considering this is not an MMO. Like I said, there are too many reasons why the net can go out, but I also forgot to mention that the servers can go down as well. In the end, forcing people to do anything is not good business.
Seriously people, get the hell off your 56k and your single core processors. Upgrade your piece of shat computer, because I am getting sick of the QQing about how you can't connect to battle.net.
Hmm i think that blizzard have perfectly guaged the current mood of gamers toward online only requirements and then thought 'screw it, we'll make it online only anyway' *two fingers flicked at the gaming community* And anyone else thinking that when the beta comes out, people will be like 'this is disappointingly crap, change it' and it'll take another year or two to fix it.... release date; i wouldn't hold by breath.
Ps. If you are on a plane or whatever, there are alternative games you can play. You made it this far in life without it. The irony of all this is, how the hell are you guys posting here if you have no net...
Clearly the decision was made to fight piracy and hacking which was out of control on DII. If you dont like that its net only you dont have to buy it. No one will miss you,
Don't the idiots at Brittard realize that some people may not have internet access at all, and others may be paying per GB with monthly bandwidth limits, etc etc. If Brittard agrees to pay my internet usage, I MAY consider this game. Otherwise I may resort to ALTERNATIVE ways of playing this game, without needing internet connection... mhm... Get the logic? If anything, this "always online" requirement can lead to MORE piracy instead of less, because now, even those who pay for the game may still look for offline alternatives. And once an offline crack is released, who wouldn't use it for the convenience, EVEN if you paid for the game?! But that's just my thinking.
I thought the lesson to learn from Starcraft II was that the absence of LAN, the new BattleNet, the constant online connection (although not completely necessary for campaign if you don't care about achievements) and the one buy/one profile law were pissing almost every gamer out there. Ubisoft learned their lesson with Assassin's Creed 2, why can't you do the same thing ? Seriously, I've been monitoring the Starcraft II professional scene for a while. I still remember an MLG (Major League Gaming) event, where two of the best players of the world got interrupted three times during their matches because of BattleNet (because, yes, such events usually have good connections). When they could finally play, they still had lag issues. It was pathetic. Stop pissing the community off Blizzard.
So lets say your a soldier on tour with a piss poor connection. How are you supposed to play the game then?
what WE HAVE TO SAY?????? We say: RELEASE IT ALREADY!!!! I'm so sick of waiting so much, so when the game FINALLY get's out.. I'm gonna skip it because I'm getting so sick of it!!!! And the more I see it, the less I like it... screw you Blizzard... you became lame!!!!
Blizzard is not selling the items the players are. So instead of having gold farmers like in wow anyone can be a seller not just the asians, Great FN idea
They are just kidding, right ? I hope ;o( ...and that auction, buy whatever you want, just pay us. Sad, very sad...
They just don't know when to stop...and to think I've been waiting for this one for a decade. I don't want to sound pessimistic but this might just be the biggest gaming disappointment EVER! As I said - too little, too late...
