Shaun speaks with Iain Smith, associate producer for Codemasters Racing, about Dirt Showdown.
Codemasters SERIOUSLY screwed the pooch when they dropped the GRID servers for both the PS3 and the PC.
NOTE TO CODEMASTERS:
Next time you're going to drop the servers for one of your BIGGEST games, PLEASE make sure you do it AFTER the sequel has been released!
The HUD, for lack of better words, looks stupid. Other than that looks pretty good but i'm still unsure.
the first bit looked ok but kind of boring, then when rampage came up the first thing i thought was that the map was to small
We've had Dirt releases for the past 3 years... But, it's been almost 4 years since GRID (which was a great game). Come on Codemasters, take a break from Dirt and give us more GRID please.
I for one am SO excited about this game! It's been ages since we've seen some good destruction derby action on consoles and Codemasters are exactly the right guys to do it! Come on guys, DiRT 4 has been officially announced, and that will bring the simulation Rally stuff in bucket loads. Showdown is separating all the non-rally events of DiRT 3 and amalgamating them with good ol' FUN destruction derby action to make a fantastic looking game! This and SSX will have me sorted for 2012!
As much as i love DiRT3, i cant help but feel this is merely a stop gap before DiRT4, so i think ill pass on this. Looks ok though.
This doesn't even "look" good. Granted, this is very early in development, but the physical driving looks bad. I've never seen a car go from 75 to 0 in a second or less, let alone go from 0 to 40 or more in less than one second....on dirt! If the next preview video introduces us to machine guns, rockets, land mines and lasers (for the races) then I'll consider picking this up.
I might give this one a chance....normally I'm not into arcade racing but I really miss games like Destruction Derby and Test Drive: Eve Of Destruction.
I dont know why people are annoyed...Dirt4 will continue where they left off with the series. Anyway it looks good to me, i like that they are taking a risk & doing something different...hopefully it will be as fun as the old destruction derby games.
As long as Dirt 4 is on it's way as he said in the video , I honestly don't care about this showdown thingy. I'm probably gonna try it out but not going to buy it , if you know what I mean. Monster Trucks would be neat btw.
so many negative poeople here...this is basically destruction derby and only codemasters could pull this re-make off with the fun game play style and physics engine... your getting Dirt 4 and grid 2 so be thankfull for them games..
I shall be giving this one a miss then. How to totally screw up a great franchise. People want Rally. Give us what we want not this boring drivel.
..looks ridiculous, dirt's always had something different compared to the other waste of time "arcade" style driving games.. This just looks like "budgets are low, we have a name people know lets use that on a lackluster experience"... I won't be buying into it, dirt 3 will remain and be remembered as what dirt is about once this crashes.
So boring. It looks like you chose the easiest road Codemasters, recycling is great for the planet but not really creative and fun. Bring RALLY back.
god this just sounds and looks like a bad idea for the Dirt games.........this is not Twisted Metal and this is not FlatOut ultimate carnage, just hurry up and make the next GRID game already.
