I like the contrast between these two images.

Hahaha. Nice, it's the same exact pose, though slightly different camera angles. Still hate DMC3 Dante's clothes though.

Yea I see what you're saying but I feel that just adds atmosphere and as we all know atmosphere is extremely important in Silent Hill and just looks nicer overall in comparison to the UK DMC2 and 3 covers which I think look messy with its use of colour especially when you compare to their US alternatives

The DMC3 image is rendered better, good for promo art.

I wonder what kind of survey they made to determine that the new Dante's look is supposedly more popular with the current crowd.
I remember reading about how a survey showed that people are more likely to be attracted by a mean, scowling face than a happy, smiling one, which is why some movie posters go for mean-looking expressions for marketing purposes.

There is no such thing as a "Quick Time Event done right".
A game that has Quick Time Events is a "video game done wrong".

It's just Tameem's personal taste.

I think it is limited to angsty teenagers who think their entire world is falling apart.

This practice is actually not new and also encompasses video games.
For some reason, the Japanese packaging always have the character looking more positive and happy but the American version will have all the characters angry.
Here's an interesting read about this:

I know about that. One of the reasons why so many people nowadays can't just smile and do those duckfaces instead.
Maybe western people nowadays don't want characters to be happy when their own lives are so dull?
EDIT: Also, something about coolness (because cool people never smile) and remeber Nier.

The problem is the new Dante is made to apply to teenage punkish crowd. Which it makes. But it rarely works for other people.
