@Zorine You really should get some stats items. like some wraiths or bracers for tankyness...I think if you had more stats up your early game would've been much better, and in the starting u should really get a salve incase of some critical moments like in the starting and you should really have gotten silence earlier especially against your lane, tide + wr is kinda killer from that slow + stun + powershot, so silence should really have been your 2nd or 3rd skill to be leveled

anyways i think I'm gonna get this game :D loved DOTA 1 and frankly I hated all the other knockoffs, DOTA 2 seems like the logical next step.

OK, here's a question:
How the hell do you defend against / take down super-OP'ed Riki??
@Scorpion1813 riki has a very low hp so you can gank him easily , buy Dust of Appearance when he gets Level 6 to reveal him , just beware he has two escape mechanisms , Silence and Blink ... he can silence you or just jump away from you . so you must have some heroes to disable him before he can do that ... 2 or 3 stunner heroes will be enough . also if he got some items buy Sentry Wards or Gem 'cause you need to see him before he kills you instantly ... Sentry Wards are very good cause most Riki players come for scouting before fights and you can kill him off easily when he is alone .
another thing that helps against Riki is disabler items like Eul or Scythe, cause when he silences you you can still disable them with those , Force Staff also helps you to run away from him .
@hatespark1234 Wow, thanks. That's great. Few things I knew, some I didn't. It's just a matter of putting it into practice I guess - he kills so fast it's hard to react sometimes. End up just mashing my keyboard trying to select the right ability to try to disable him.
@Scorpion1813 You can also hold the game and let you carry farm, since Riki is easily out-farmed in the late-game.
@Scorpion1813 Just remember that riki's really quite fragile, he relies on his smoke and invisibility to protect him. Get out of his smoke cover, and he'll actually drop pretty quickly when focused.

Swear all you ever need is them clearly OP characters who can nuke the piss out of everyone.. such as Zues who nukes multi peeps so hard who cares of he is "squishy" in WoW they use that term but squishys tend to have ways to reduce or avoid a TON of damage. in playing L.O.L i found some characters rediculus.... 1 actualy had a super nuke AoE wich pulled ppl in even (Very rape). I hope Dota2 doesn't take L.O.L's route in cash cowing ppl. I really don't see much balancing... its like all any of these dev's do is copy the old wc3 dota game... I gotta say there is a clear reason why some characters are clearly overpicked... its cause no balancing, you will see ppl who can nuke with 1-2 CC moves to insure absult fear put into players.

I played as Lion in a Single Draft game and found him surprisingly awesome. He's currently sitting as one of my top 3 heroes even though I've only played as him that once.
I do prefer Rhasta though, his moveset is just awesome - but I haven't really seen many other people playing as him. Is there a reason for that? Is it just that there are better heroes that fills the same role? It's the same with Furion - haven't seen him used much and he's pretty powerful.
Furion is a first ban/first pick hero in pro level matches, due to his ability to teleport and gank anywhere on the map, jungle well, and push towers/lanes exceptionally fast with his treants and ultimate. People pick him pretty frequently to fill these roles. Rhasta can also fill these roles, with added crowd control since he can lock down 2 heroes, although his web stun is mediocre at best. I feel like both heroes are picked fairly frequently though. Some may pick Leshrac or Broodmother for pushing over Rhasta, since they don't have to reach their ultimate before they can easily take down early towers.

I've only played public games but only seen Furion and Rhasta once each (except when I pick them - Rhasta is my main).
I've seen Leshrac more, but haven't seen Broodmother at all.
@BK09 I may be lucky they don't pick Furion, but unlucky that Riki is ALWAYS on the opposing team, and at least one person on my team disconnects.
That's just a typical game for me.
Sometimes it's just me and my friend (who's just as much a noob as me) taking on 5 pros.

Noticed Furion players seem to do one of two things in my pub games:- AFK farm the jungle for the entire game, never actually become a problem.
- Have the entire opposing team terrified of leaving their bases by 30 minutes, for fear that a treeman from hell is going to pop up at any second and autoattack them to death with his LOADS OF MONEY
I've played a few bot games myself and bots tend to always choose one of the following (in order of most common):
Sniper
Windrunner
Razor
If bots are programmed to pick the better heroes, this would back up that persons claim about Sniper being overpowered.
By default, character select is set to F1. I tend to use that rather than grouping my hero to 1 every game. I also set the courier to F2.
As for sorting the heroes in the menu, that only tends to work once (the first time you use it) and never works again after that. Not sure why. It's exactly the same on the official DOTA 2 website. The game is still in beta I guess.
Also, I have died so many time due to auto-attack. My hero just runs in trying to attack the enemy heroes and gets ganked so hard. Most annoying when it happens when trying to run away.
Really fun watching Dota 2. I've played the warcraft 3 mod with my friends, I don't know if that was Dota 1 or not, but it was fun. Will be waiting for more.
1 Like this game is great, I'm really glad that Valve didn't messed the game with their engine and successfully recreate the feeling and gameplay from the original DOTA. Yes, I hate LoL, I think HoN is decent but nothing special. Dota 2 is the moba hardcore players are expecting
@vadagar1 you realize blizzard has never made a moba game right. you probably play wow too.
1 Like You do know Blizzard are making "Blizzard DOTA" which is now called "Blizzard All-star" due to trying to take Valve to court over the name "DOTA" and failing.
What Blizzard should tke note over was getting Icefrog on board and then DOTA 2 would have been a Blizzard title. Having said, that I'm not sure if that's such a good idea - DOTA 2 is awesome the way it is now and I think that has a lot to do with Valve being involved.
If the drow is so soft then boots of speed at the beginning would help a lot more than a one more minor stat boost which would not only increase your survivability but get you to the front faster.
1 Like @CommodoreRaslin For the cost of boots you're getting what? +move speed. This helps you get to lane, and and get back faster. In turn, you lose out on damage, health, and a bit of armor. Your opponents hit harder, can soak more damage, and can cast their spells more frequently. You can't last hit against them because you lack damage, you can't out harass them because you yourself can't take harass, you can't be aggressive at all because all you have is a defensive pair of boots and (hopefully) some regen.
Or you, could buy stats, because why do you need to get to lane faster anyway when the creeps aren't even going to get there until a minute and a half into the game anyway. True you can run away much more easily, but at level one there are really only two things that can kill you easily: 3+ person ganks by the enemy team, and your own overextension. Your boots aren't really going to help you much against either. Buy stats, get those hits, and then buy your boots when you actually need to shift your focus from farming to being more mobile.
@WCK619 No, they didn't. That is actually the proper way of spelling it. Only America uses a z instead of an s.
@almat96 I'm not American or in US, and I use z instead of an s in "realize". Your argument is invalid.
@WCK619 Britain and (generally) Australia both use "realise".
"realize" is the way it is spelt in the American language. Your country must speak/write American rather than English.
If you are Australian then your part of Australia must be more Americanised.
