Dragon Age: Origins Video Review

Essentially a less interesting and involving Mass Effect.

Not even close to Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment. Cliché story, and combat is just a thorn and replay value is superficial.

Woah, just started this on ps3 and framerate is...bad. Almost unplayable (certainly not enjoyable). Load screens every time a conversation starts. Is it worth switching to Xbox? Heard frame rate is better.

GREAT game, loved it even at the xbox version! Btw, is it justme or were the reviews ALOT better like it was on this one rather than nowadays?

This?!, this the gameplay purist kept defending?!!!. dragon age 2 has a better gameplay and you can all eat a bag of D*@&$

i did like this game but i got bored of it

bought it for the pc when it first came out and now bought the ultimate edition recently  for the PS3 since i didn't played all the DLC's when i first got it back then and for a 3yr old game i am  still enthralled . DA:O wil always be amoung my favourite rpg's of all time games like that are very few and far between.

I've just started DA:O on my XB360 and he say's that the PS3's verison looks/loads better! Well I have a PS3 but it's one of the originals, you know one of the 60GB backwords/compatible PS3's that one can play PS1/PS2/PS3 games on (and still works perfect) but the bigest problem with it as some may or may not remember is that the damb (fan sound like F16 fighter jet, well more or less anyway lol! Point is it's just too damb noisy/loud to be playing an 100+ hrs. RPG on if you know what I mean. I could just spend around $160 or so to buy a used PS3-"slims" but I think I'm just going to wait for the PS4 to come out! That said IMHO it doesn't look all that bad at all on the XB360 tho. Anyway just a thought, happy gaming all!!!

I am so enthralled with this title. Most likely my favourite RPG by far. :)

In years to come we'll all come together and celebrate this as one of the all time classics.

@KingdomForce982 well if you used your map and journal and compass that ointed exactly where you needed to go in oblivion, then yo shold have figured out where to go. And no Dragon Age isn't an open world rpg, you its easy to figure ut where you need to go.

very good game, i just felt that the tactics were lacking somewhat.

I haven't played this game and don't know much about it but I love the Mass Effect games. If I like those games would I like this or is there no way to compare the games.

okay someone really need to explain this to me. i love rpgs okay. when i brought this i just finished playing demon souls (well over 20 times) and then gave this a go beucase ive seen to much good reviews. can someone explain whats with the combat? and why can you not control the combat. all you do it press a button and the bloke just stand there and swings untill it dies...??? its like a bigger version of a rpg on the iphone. press a butoon swing swing swing die press a button swing swing swing die.. i really rited to get into it but the combat sucks

skyrim is going to OWN every single rpg out there hands down (although mass effect 3 will be a close 2nd) just say'n...

I'll have to go back and play this one again to see if my views of it change, but last time I played it I remember the story being somewhat boring, and the bosses just feeling like regular monsters with slightly more health. I feel with the more dynamic bosses in DA2 I'm used to I'm going to have a hard time getting back into this one, though.

Only bad thing is the fade its so annoying but the rest of it is amazing. Kinda reminded me of Lord Of The Rings.

I am not a RPG fan, but this game is really good. It is the first PC game since Half-Life 2 I played again after finishing it.

I loved this game so much! One thing I did not really enjoy was that not matter what you your character said it did not really matter. Choices came from other places such as choosing to bring certain party members, killing or forgiving a certain villain and who made the ultimate sacrifice. Out of everything more choice would be a plus for me. Still an amazing game.

the console version (XBOX360) should be better than the PS3 and the PC because the XBOX360 is like the leading game system of all and nothing should compare to it so like yeah just look at COD:BO and COD:MW3 (wich i think is going to look and be great). I going to make a killer two sworded person with a hot ass girl. ;)

@Xaiteev I agree 100 percent. If only Bioware would have combined Origins' everything with Dragon Age II's combat mechanics, it truly would have been a masterpiece. I will never understand why it was stripped down so much.

@CaineFH Strange. I picked up the Ultimate Edition on Steam over the winter sale and DLC seems to be working just fine.

@warhawksuper It isn't just the fact that the game wasn't all that great. It's the fact that Bioware was acting like this was going to be better than DAO. The fact that The Witcher 2 proved that it was possible to create a good sequel just makes it seem worse. I think that many fans would agree that they would be willing to give the game another half year to a year just to have a game that we expect from Bioware.

I miss when Dragon age was something i could look at. Now after playing 2 I really feel like the series is dying. If three doesn't make a come back then I'm done. I really do hope they make a witcher 3 thought I loved the 1st and they did what DA couldn't do and made 2 better
