Capcom is about to break the game in a couple of days.

I have heard that the new easy mode that Capcom is patcing into the game WILL NOT be a separate game file. You will be allowed to switch  to easy mode at any time during the game. You can forget about that cool sense of danger and suspense that you had before because from now on if you are getting spanked you can simply switch to easy mode and instakill any monster you want. ....You can also look forward to your main pawn coming back with an insanely imbalanced amount of Rift Crystals due to spammers flying through the game on easy mode.

It was a fun couple of months buy you had to go and ruin it THANKS CAPCOM....If you are like me and want your displeasure to be heard go here and let them know that they are about to run one of the best games of the year right into the ground http://www.capcom-unity.com/brelston/blog/2012/08/02/easy_mode,_new_demo_coming_for_dragons_dogma

The hell. They should be making a Hard mode, not an Easy mode...Game's already somewhat easy as it is.

    Then don't use Easy mode.

"And you know what Hell is, folks...it's Andy Gibb, singing "Shadow Dancing" for eons and eons, and you have to wear orange plaid bell bottoms, and sit next to the Bay City Rollers. 'How you guys doing?' This is gonna SUCK!"

    Then don't use Easy mode.

I'm not a big Capcom fun, hell... I think this is the first capcom game I've bought in years.
Yet I still don't get how there are people that find a bad think to everything capcom does.

The easy mode was released because some people that are not as experienced in games where having a hard time with Dragon Dogma (while not as hard as Dark Souls, it's still above average when it comes to difficulty). It's intended for more people to enjoy the game.

If this where an online game with PVP and easy mode would let you level up faster, THEN I would get the complains, but If you don't like it here (in this Singe player game)  there is a really complex method you can use that will probably take you moths to master.............. It's called JUST DON'T USE THE EASY MODE. Really complex, I know.

It is forced on you because its there whether you want it or not. Its a safetey net.  Dragon's Dogma was my GOTY before Capcom added a switch at any time easy mode because it forced you do figure out a way of getting things done in the game instead of just handing it to you.  My second favorite game of the year was Trials Evolution.

Now I don't want to get too deep and philosophical on you guys but I hope you can understand how different a game like Trials would be if you could just skip a jump at any time if you found it too hard instead of taking the time to actually learn how to do it.

Another thing that I don't want to get too deep on you is the concept of a "metagame". Before Capcom changed the game everyone in the world was on the same page when playing Dragon's Dogma. Someone like myself would go online and talk about how they were getting roasted by bandits on the top of the hill or whatever and people would get thier heads together and talk them through it because there was no other way. Now after the patch whats the point? People will just swich to easy mode when the game prompts you. How can you not understand that the game is now fundamentally different than it was a month ago?

Besides, Dragon's Dogma gave you every opportunity to run away, go around or avoid a fight that is too tough for your characters level to handle. Now you don't need to assess the situation and do any of that. You can just switch to easy mode.

People are so used to  dumbed down, no skill, glorified tourist simulator games like Skyrim these days so much its sickening.

    @TruthSerum808

Sounds like you're mad because you can't socialize with other gamers about how hard this game is anymore. This patch shouldn't even be an issue because first, you can still ignore easy mode and second, it's a lot more rewarding to complete the game on your own anyway without using any source of help.

You say that like its a bad thing. Nowadays just about every game on the planet has some social aspect to it, especially Dragon's Dogma with its pawn system. But the truth is the game isn't even that hard once you figure out where to go.

Its really the "switch at any time" aspect of the easy mode that really bugs me. It should have been separate from normal mode. Having it switch at any time makes it A PART of normal mode. Making it switch at any time takes away consequences and replaces them with choices. I don't know if you can get your head around that but those are two totally different things.

I remember going to rescue Quina in the Whitchwood and having to sneak through the countryside with my party avoiding bandits that were nearby over the ridge and being totally on edge because my party's health was running low and there was no Inn in sight. It was glorious. That experience would have been TOTALLY different with a "swtch at any time" easey mode. Get it?

I'm not sure if this is the best analogy but think of it like the movie The Matrix. We knew nothing in that world was real bet it FELT real and dangerous because the CONCEQUENCES were real. If you died in the Matrix you died for real.

Now on the other hand take a move like Sucker Punch. It had FANTASTIC visuals,  great fight scenes  and cool looking monsters. But Sucker Punch was as boring as can be because we knew it was all a dream with no concequences and no real danger.

Now after the easy mode patch in Dragon's Dogma you can win at any time if you choose to but you can pretend that the easy mode is not there. With easy mode you can choose to cut and run if you are out matched when before the patch you HAD TO run if you were outmatched or you were gonna die.

Capcom just took The Matrix and turned it into Sucker Punch simply to cater to casuals.

dude, i think you need to chill out a bit. yes it is an extra option that many people might take advantage of, but the fact that you dont have to or are forced to makes it not that big of a deal. you can still play however you want especially since the only online aspect to it is the pawn system, so i really dont see how its that big of a deal. so seriously, chill out and calm down, and just get over it and keep playing the game however you have been playing it. easy mode will not be a factor when it comes to the Ur-dragon so again, its of no consequence.

as for your analogies, they were not good ones. the whole matrix bit made no sense in regards to the easy mode patch. and Sucker Punch did have consequences, the ending itself was that consequence. Not to mention when ever she went into dance mode and started their crazy adventures the dangers were still real. the action sequences we saw, were mere metaphors and elaborations of their simple actions in their real world.

so again if you feel like giving in to that temptation to switch to easy mode cuz you are having a hard time and you are no longer forced to deal with it, then that is all on you. But there is something called will power, so i suggest you use it, otherwise you only have yourself to blame from removing the challenge that the game has. so again i say, chill out and get over it.

It turns out that Easy Mode just reduces enemy damage output somewhat, not allow anyone to instantly fell the mightiest of foes. Who'd have thunk it?

If anything, it might just lead to a few less 'orphaned' pawns due to diminished frustration on the part of less dedicated players rather than rob everyone of any sense of achievement. It's a bit discouraging to try to uplift a pawn only to see that they have stalled all progress since their players have given up early when this helpful feature would have been most appreciated.

Still, for sake of compromise and bragging rights alike, maybe Capcom should have thrown in an additional Achievement/Trophy for winning the game on what can now be considered Hard/Normal Mode or tossed in a few more bits of loot that only appear in Standard/Hard Mode?

Going to have to half-agree with TruthSerum808 because that was how Dragon's Dogma was advertised to play. Switching to easy-mode just ruins DD for how it was advertised as a hard game that punishes new gamer habits while rewarding those that played in the 90's and early 2000's. Switching from Normal to easy and back would bring back those new gamer habits of being spoiled instead of doing everything yourself and being satisfied in doing so. If people quit DD for being "Too hard" then they're simply lazy couch-potatos that shouldn't even be gaming. They need to be whipped back into shape both mentally and physically.

To solidify my point I've come across loads of people playing Minecraft on creative building less than those who play on survival which colonize more than those on creative. Punishing yourself and doing things your own way rewards you with satisfaction (Normal/Survival) while having things handed to you on a golden platter (Easy/creative) makes things more boring. Having things handed to you just ruins it, making you hop from one game to the next.

    ------

But whatever, what I said is all for naught with the last post saying only players taking damage is lessened so whatever. Just helping out TruthSerum808 for the fun of it.

I was hoping for a hard mode myself, but we didn't get it.Now that i am maxed level i'll just use my favorite looking crappy weapons, and use little armor,or just make my arisen, and pawn look how i want, insted of going for best results against DEF,and such,or renting low level pawns to help out new players, and make my game that much harder.I recommend doing all these things i've mentioned if you want a real challenge for those who've reached max lvl.

Hopefully in the sequel to Dragon's Dogma a few changes will be made. 1) Your hometown is Cassardis. You have a house in Cassardis. Yet you cannot rest, save your game, or store things in your house. Instead you have to pay to stay at the inn in Cassrdis when you have a perfectly good bed in your house you cant use. 2) The pawns repetitive speech has to go. I have played through the game 3 times and heard all the pawns speech 1000 times already. Make the pawns speech more interesting to where it actually contirbutes to the game. 3) Make leveling point or something where each player can level their player as they choose. 4) Weapons. Why arent the Dragons' weapons the best weapons in the game? I have a Dragons Aegis shield, Dragons Dogma sword, Dragons Rancon bow, a Dragons Nous Staff yet there are better weapons. If you get the "Dragon" weapons for beating the dragon shouldnt they be the strongest weapons? 5) Have a mode of faster travel like horses, carts, ships, or something. Walking everywhere in monotonous. 6) Aparently Dragons Dogma wants you to have a relationship (infinity) with a person. Make a relationship with the person of your choice or your main pawn as part of the game. Maybe even have the dragon take that person before you fight him. 7) Add more detail to the game in the cities, landscape, and there is no weather element other than wind. Imagine fighting a drake in a blizzard. 8) Your main pawn should also be able to get Dragonforged. I am having to switch items out to try and get my pawns things dragonforged. Luckily I am a Mystic Knight and I aslo use a staff. My main pawn is a Mage. 9) Once I figured out how to equip other pawns it was ok. It is a bit tedius. Make the gifting option more user friendly. Also when you gift a pawn after you release them you should be able to gift them anything from your inventory. Not what you just have on hand. You should also be able to give them multiple items.10) I love the everfall in the post game. Make it easier to navigate. Having to jump and hope you land on the right ledge can get annoying after you land on a ledge of a room you already completed a few minutes prior. Make the everfall accessible (all rooms in the everfall) from the pawn guild. There are also no monsters on the outside of the rooms. Make it so you have to fight things going to the rooms and have the bigger bosses inside the rooms. 11) In some parts of the game you fight 2 cockatrices, 2 chimeras. Those are fun. I like the challenge. What about 2 dragons? Maybe part of the story could be a quest where you have to steal a dragons egg in an effort to stop the dragon lineage. Then the dragons come to get their egg back and you have to defeat them both. In other words have more multiple boss challenges. 12) Make certain things easier such as carrying goblins. Once I youtubed on how to carry a goblin I tried for 4 hours almost before I got it right. The goblin died on me before I could feed the cyclops. You have to get it exactly right to carry the goblin. 13) In the post game don't make the bosses some random. I have seen 2 wyverns the whole time. I have defated at least 10 drakes between Gran Soren and Devilfire Grove. Grffins before you fight the dragon are rare also. I think having the threat of a boss being around at all time would be great. I would welcome the challenge. Granted right now I am almost invincible at level 154 and counting. fighting goblins, those annoying harpies, the undead, etc...  gets boring.Thats just some thoughts on how I think the sequel could be better.

The Seneschal quest has to go. I understand the meaning of it, but it is useless and you cannot interact with anyone. You are nott dead, yet noone can see you, talk to you, and you basically cannot do anything with anyone. Instaed after you give Quince (I think that is her name) the 20 wakestones, you should be able to continue playing in the everfall until you want to start a new game. Maybe after you give her the wakestones have a new quest that would start a new game. Maybe you will become the Duke in the 2nd one after the truth is revealed that you were not a traitor.

The Seneschal quest has to go. I understand the meaning of it, but it is useless and you cannot interact with anyone. You are nott dead, yet noone can see you, talk to you, and you basically cannot do anything with anyone. What about something like keeping track (a tally) of everything you have killed. Maybe after killing say 25 drakes you get a special weapon you cannot get anywhere else.

Just copy your save file to another hard drive such as a usb flash drive so you can have the original difficulty backed up in case you don't like easy mode.

It's a function you have to activate yourself. If you click it it's your fault, not Capcom's.

And people actually rented twink pawns? Every time my friends and I get our pawns back they're usually given rocks, rotten meat, or vials of water/oil/poison. I've only ONCE had one come back with equipment, and it was trash that, assumed, they gave the pawn to carry to alleviate encumbrance issues.
