We dropped in on Dust 514 the free-to-play PS3 game that is directly connected to Eve Online. We got an extensive demo at E3 2012.
It looks like they have set up great, great game. But it is missing the visuals, graphics, DESTRUCTION and some other important stuff.
errrr looks pretty bad on PS3 and with no audience there it wont sell so I'll hold out for a much better looking PC version where EVE and FPS players are. I mean you could have at least selected a console known for the best FPS controls, the genre isn't that strong on the PS3.
There seem to be some basic problems with the gunplay, the highly inaccurate AR (did he just forget to go into an aiming stance ??) and how much hp people seem to have. The fight in the beginning where the presenter and someone else just run around each other for 20 seconds, that looked silly and not fun, just spray and pray. Then the rocket tower, either a volley of those big rockets should kill foot soldiers, or don't have such huge explosions, seeing someone just run on misses damage feedback/reward and adds to the surreal feeling of the gameplay here.
I like the general premise, kinda like a Starhawk with context and less cartoon but the actual fighting seems underwhelming and unwieldy. :/
