The ending kills the whole experience! Its that bad! Knowing that there wont be a sequel and that there wasnt any sort of closure on these characters really hurts! Also, as beautiful as the game is and as great as the characters are the gameplay is at best average and at worst plain awful! Missed chance!

The review itself is good, but Tom's voice is painful. It sounds like he's being forced to read a script, and he's too bored to do talk like a normal human being.

I'll go with a 7.5-8. It's a beautiful game, fantastic acting and voice overs, touching and engrossing...but flicky camera views and at times clunky, seemingly unresponsive controls? That's amateur hour game design. It is really enjoyable to play, but I've wanted to toss my joypad through the TV twice now when simple commands (like turbine stop) refuse to be accepted. And controls at the end of the day are pretty much at the heart of all gaming. Without them, you pretty much have nothing. I also find it leads you by the hand a lot. Not enough to make the holdable pieces shine and flash for you to see, it then spends 5-10 seconds showing you exactly the route you need to go, leaving me thinking 'just let me play, it's not hard, you've scripted each jump anyhow!'. Good game, gorgeous game, but by no means a great of AMAZING. Which is a shame, as it should be.

Enjoyed review shown although it could easily become a nine-score rating!

This game was great!!!

@eBentl I didn't say it was bad. But I was saying that some of the things that they marked off for, not only in this game but for others as well, are not bad things yet are still considered to be. They're just different ways to make a game. So I was saying that they shouldn't have marked off for those things, which would increase the score. 8 is good, but its should've been a bit higher. 8.5 at least.

@sandman95 Yeah a rating of "Great" is pretty horrible

I hate it when reviews say things like "lack of freedom" on platforming or something being "scripted" is a bad thing. Every game is different. Some games work great with those and some work great without those. This game should've gotten higher than an 8. They did what they wanted to achieve with this game perfectly and it showed. Not everything needs to be open world with your decisions changing the entire story. Not every story can work that way. Some have points that need to be made and they can't be made unless the game pushes you in a certain direction. Linearity shouldn't be seen as bad. It's just a different style. This game couldn't have been made better in any significant way. Maybe some minor things but 8 is such an understatement.

It's disappointing that this game was not much of a commercial hit. It's a beautiful game with an interesting story, and charismatic characters.

Does anyone else realize that this game is a retelling or re-imagining of Journey To The West?

it almost makes me cry u know why? i finished this last night, i enjoyed every single part. the amazing and incredible graphics specialy the faces. that was beyond anything i have ever seen. even crysis 2 didnt have face physics like that. the gameplay and environment so well fantasized. touching story, you can feel the hard work they'd put in every bit. and yet we say why games look alike these days. was this peace of art supported? was it encouragin to the team to make something a lot cooler than this? and here we are sayin what an underrated this and that.

why is Enslaved cheaper than heavenly sword on gamemarket?

I'm a little late to the party, I know, but I JUST got this game last week, and I must say, I absolutely loved every second of it. I can't think of another game that enveloped me so deeply in it's main characters. I think the voice acting was key in that aspect, and they nailed it with this game. It's just... the ending was very abrupt. And not just because I never wanted the game to end (If it were up to me, it would have lasted forever, haha); it just ended very quickly. I'd love to see a sequel...

A fantastic game that deserves better credit than it gets. The voice acting alone is some of the best I've ever heard in a video game. I have to say though that I do agree with the reviewer to a degree on the platforming. It could of done with being a bit less scripted and given the player a bit more freedom on choice of paths to get through certain sequences. Other than that there is very little to fault this game on. There should be more games like this on the market.

Enslaved Odyssey To The West is in fact a Chinese history/legend of Sun Go Kong who traveled with Pat Kai the Pig onto the west searching for divine wisdom.

i played the demo ... on 360 and the game on PS3.... I felt that there were a lot of visual glitches .... and i felt irritated while playing... not taking anything away from the game .... i think it was a great game ... but if you have a 360 get it on that ....

Fell in love with this game. I havn't found a game where I have been that attached to characters in a long time. The world and the storyline was spectacular as well. I just beat the game this morning, and would love to see a 2nd one in the future. Seriously, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride...it will surprise you.

just put this in for the first time last night, played 3 hours on normal and am already on chapter 5, I'd have to say this is one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I've played in years, the mix of graphical wonder, excellent controls, outstanding action set pieces (LOVE the section where your trying to make it to the escape pod at the very beginning) and the fact that Trip and Monkey are gradually developing a wonderful bond make this one of the best games I've played in years. The 2 niggles that the review puts as downers should have IN NO WAY made this game only worthy of an 8/10, thats just absolutely pathetic. This game deserves at least a 9. its deeply disappointing to see that things are slowly being trended away from the single player experience in favour of multiplayer and quick fix rubbish. This game is deep and incredible and is what a true fan of video games has been waiting for imo.

The bit of "Enslaved" that I played, I certainly enjoyed it very much. A nice mix of action, adventure, platforming; and the whole escorting of Trip doesn't feel like a boring chore.

@lordofallpies some games kinda NEED to shove you into a NON freeroam place so that the story can flow effectivly... its like halflife... if you DID make THAT free roam, what would you do? free roam environments are for games who arent trying to make the story flow as well.. they focus on freedom, instead of story.

i had reservations about getting this at first but it turned into a really exciting ambitious game. it's a shame not many people bought it though they missing out. i thought the themes and design were really unique and interesting. the characters are suprisingly "human". get it!

Great story game that you care about the characters. The plot between them both worked amanzingly for this game. I highly recommend.

I love a game with a good character development, especially revolving around two people... Looking forward to playing this. Nothing like a good adventure game to play, especially over the populated shooter games out there.

I cant believe trip's voice actor is Lindsey Shaw who played Moze in Ned Declassified.
