How do I get past who darted?

the end guy keeps shooting me. Ive tried distracting the guy by hitting the back touch screen but he always turns around to shoot before i get past. am i on the right track? is it a matter of timing?

This one took me a few trys but pull down the first grate then stop and when your in the middel and pull the second great down and distract him with the back touch pad so he will walk on the plate and get squashed
took me a few trys and i might have done it by mistake but that how i beat that level good luck
