Right behind you. Don't look, it'll make me angry. Ghouls don't like eye contact. Ever wonder why ferals attack you? Normal ghouls are blind.

Oh my god, masterpug is the Pint-Sized Slasher! Just look at one of the pics!

...was I supposed to write something?

OK I got a question. So after you mezz them and get them to your settlement what makes them stay there? Like I want to make a raider, enclave house at dukovs place with some enclave outside in the little inclosed area. But what will make them stay outside of the house and not just wonder away.

Also could I use the Talon merc or Regulators as residents if I mezz them?

    *Sigh*

Folks, you can't just gather up anyone from the wasteland and add them to your settlement - it doesn't work like that. 95% of the NPCs in this game have set patrolling and schedules that cause them to stick to a certain path, and if they are taken away from this path, they will simply walk right back to it.

However, the NPCs listed in Section 6 of the guide DO work for settlement-building, as they do not have the restrictions of a set schedule and can therefore remain in whatever area you lead them to. It is quite possible that there are some new additions out there that I haven't playtested, but for the most part, the list already in the guide is about as comprehensive as you'll find.

^ Aw man. I guess i'll just have to reverse pickpocket Enclave armor and Plasma weapons on everyone in Megaton. Let's see Mr.Burke try something now.

Alright, all the pics of my settlement are finally up - here's the link again:

They're slightly out of order as it pertains to which houses/areas I want to be presented first but I'm tired of ****ing around with photobucket on dial-up.

I just...this is great, but I just really don't see the point in this. Roleplaying, I guess, but I just don't see how all the effort is worth it...

It's official. June is the worst month ever.

'I just...this is great, but I just really don't see the point in this. Roleplaying, I guess, but I just don't see how all the effort is worth it...'

Well, it is often hard to see what isn't there ;-)

Point being (haha) there is no tangible point to doing this. It's a drain on your time and resources and you will get no reward save the satisfaction of creating something from...well...smaller bits of other things - it's basically virtual Legos with better-looking bodies. The whole thing is purely for RP purposes, at least from my point of view, and it's something for people to do when they've done everything else in the game five times over and are actually bored enough with it to try something like this.

the 'guy' i was talking about was a wastelander.
  • Jul 22, 2009 12:18 pm GMT
and btw, what are each faction's field of movement? (ie. wastelanders, robots, animals, scavengers, etc.)
  • Jul 22, 2009 12:56 pm GMT
Well dakotanevada, provided that it's a wastelander from one of the encounters in section 6 of the guide, they will still have a limited-range patrol scripting but do not have a set schedule, and therefore will remain in the general area of wherever you lead them. If they are left in an interior cell, such as a house, they will wander said cell but will remain inside.

And the movement patterns of all the possible NPCs for settlement-building are already listed individually in section 6 - read the preface before the list for clarification. The only movement type I neglected to mention was that of the type-1 scavenger's pack brahmin, which is stationary.

Also, if you want it in document form that badly, just copy & paste the posts onto a word document.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, pretty sure somebody did, but, the scavenger south of Whillem's Wharf won't stay in the Wilks house. I brought him there successfully. When I bring him insideand i mez him, I let it wear off, but he just walks outside. Does he just wander around, or does he leave to go back to his dock? Again, sorry if somebody mentioned that he couldn't be added.

^ It's in the guide, but thanks. Also, the scavenger NW of Ft Independence does not work either.

The scavenger near Grayditch does stay in one place.
