Description

We're always focused on what's next: upcoming games, behind-the-scenes reports from industry events across the world, interviews with game developers, and a few surprises here and there.

So, obviously EA focused a lot of effort showcasing its new, upcoming titles at today's press event. It was interesting to see that, amidst all that new content, they managed to set up some kiosks with Burnout Paradise and the title update formerly known as "Davis". Davis has been renamed the bike pack because it adds motorcycles to the Burnout mix along with day and night cycles, dynamic weather updating, and 70 new challenges for the bikes. The playable demo of the game didn't show off most of that, we were just able to zip around the city with one other person, but it gave a pretty good feel for the bike handling in the game. If anyone out there is hoping for some kind of detailed, realistic racing sim guess again. Criterion has kept things good and simple: the bike control has a good feel to it and walks the line between sim and arcade just like the car control does. The only slight alteration to the Burnout formula is the crashing and deformation on the bikes. There are crashes and some mild deformation on the bikes but nothing along the lines of the cars. Your racer also disappears pretty quickly when you wipe out and quickly resets.

Besides the playable content, the reps milling around the kiosks also took the time to point out the other upcoming Burnout business. Trophies are supposed to be added to the PS3 game in the fall at around the same time it's made available for download on the PlayStation Network. The additional content is a nice touch, especially the part where it's free, and making the whole game available on PlayStation network is interesting. Big question is going to be how big a footprint it's going to make on the hard drive but a game like Burnout's worth the space.

they wanted to keep the game E10+ i wish they could add splitscreen or something that would make the game 300 times funner and also if they added like 30 coop events or something

I think the update comes at the beginning of September, but I'm not sure about the game on the PSN. I think they're hiding the player crashes on the bikes because they don't want to show what really happens when you're hitting maximum speeds on them and when a person just gets mished and mashed all over the pavement and walls lol.

It all sounds great but when are we going to get it. I mean a pacific date would really be great. I am a big fan of EA and all that you doing with the updates and all. You guys the only ones out there that are doing this and now all the others need to follow in your steps. I Love Burnoutaradise.....

Great racing game, glad to hear that the intensity is going to be revved up a few notches with the addition of bikes. But we want to see the rider/ driver in the wreckage. Split screen issue: Why in the age of giant widescreen tv's wont EA and others make a vertical split screen? It would give a much better view to each user and during deathmatch type games the users could essentially put a curtain up to prevent other player from sneeking peeks at your position in the game space.

I think this will be interesting but I don't think it'll be enough to get me back into playing the hell out of it like I did when I first got it. Worth a look though.

where did I say FACT? err - nowhere! I am totally entitled to say that paradise sucked, if I think it did (which I do). I've even given countless reasons why I think paradise sucked. I'm sure there are lots of people that disagree, but then they don't all feel the need to sling insults like some do.... grow up! honestly! I'll continue to say something sucks if I think it does, and no amount of people telling me it doesn't will suddenly change my mind. PARADISE SUCKS BIG FAT DONKEY BALLS. There, I said it.

    B2 rules.

I love Burnout Paradise and Im not really in to ddiving game. This game is so much fun to play which is what they aimed to do with this game. This was not meant to be a driving simulator whick is why some don't like it. You have to enjoy it for what it is.

tidyspidey Posted Aug 18, 2008 12:35 am PT I'm not wrong at all - Burnout Paradise DOES suck, IMO.

I'm sorry but that was just plain stupid XD, enforcing that Burnout Paradise sux as a FACT and then saying IMO. Think first genious.

The addition of bikes looks awsome

I'm not wrong at all - Burnout Paradise DOES suck, IMO. Of course, everyone else is entitled to theirs... My own personal opinion is that I don't like paradise at all. If you like it, by all means, say so, but you can't tell me it doesn't suck, because to me, it does. It's probably my own view, that I always loved the crash junctions in burnout more than anything - takedowns and everything were fun, and actually, I found road rage fun too, but nothing beats the pure crashes that were without medals and multipliers that we had in B2. Even now, I still would rather try rolling some buses on B2 than go for takedowns or road rage any day. Traffic checking was ridiculous too.... I just found that each Burnout game released after the 2nd one got more and more full of weak advertisiting opportunities and the awful crash FM mock radio station.... again - my opinion. Finally - one thing I found very annoying about the games after B2 was the lack of a localized leader board for crashes. Because of the online element being introduced, you couldn't just type in your own initials after getting a high score on a crash junction. A very small point for some, but for me, it was highly annoying. it just stored the high score on whoever's profile was signed in. Sure, you could write down your scores, but it was annoying for me nonetheless. It ruined the crash parties I used to have on the GC version of B2... rant over - now lets have another load of people telling me "how I'm wrong" *sigh*

Paradise sucked - EA ruined Burnout, really.... Burnout 3 and Revenge were OK, but still nowhere near as good as Burnout 2
    .--.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-..-.-.-.-.--

Err, I have player EVERY single Burnout Game out there to death and in my opinion (and maybe in the opinion of almost every burnout fan who have played all the games) Burnout 2 is one of the 'worst' in the family, yeah is good and all that, but Burnout 2 don't have anything to do with Takedown, the BEST burnout game. The second best is paradise and is getting better... the worst? Point of Impact hands down... and of course, that BIG PILE OF CRAP of Burnout Legends for DS .... absolutely awful
