One of those games that creates a universe. Some just do things for narrative conveinience but this game made a structure that made sense. Can't wait to paddle in this pool again.
We have been having heaps of fun with this game - those waiting the release you will enjoy it - much better than darksiders (the original) - AusGamerNetwork Team :) - @ausgamernetwork @mrgrizit
wow GS thx for this !!!wanted to check on all of this just yesterday, now a have all the info I needed.Awesome!
Really liked the gameplay and combat , very few games are challenging and fun like this one, also loved the horse combat , just hope it makes a return in the second game
I actually found this game to be pretty badass. I never really played any games like God of War or Dante's Inferno, so I'm not too familiar with the genre. Still, I thought it was worth the fourty I paid in the long run of things.
Curious to see how DII does.
Just barely got this game... this made the Bat Queen look damn easy o_O... I'm still stuck on her, lol
This was a sleeper hit back at 2010.. There isn't much good developers left. So i bought CE for this
One of my all-time favourite games. Made with lots of love and attention by the developers. I really hope THQ survives and finishes the story about the 4 horseman. Darksiders rocks!
That seems highly unlikely. Usually the review comes a week or two after the release of the game.
@Pip_Squeak @push88 A week or two after release for a major release we received in advance? Don't be silly :) With a small staff we can't always be as fast as we want, but THQ got us the game in plenty of time; hooray!
The Darksiders II embargo is August 14th at 9AM Pacific. Unless something happens--my untimely death, for instance, or a fire in the CBS offices--our review will publish at that time.
@Pip_Squeak It all depends, sadly. With such a small staff, we rely on getting games in advance. Some publishers are really good about getting us code in plenty of time; others, not so much. And even when we do get code in advance, it doesn't usually include the PC version, which means we usually have to wait for that version to come out :(
And then employees do silly things like taking vacation days! There can be so many factors, which means we have to prioritize, and some reviews will come later than others. For instance, I want to have someone review a PC game called A Virus Named Tom, but the entire staff is busy. I wish I could summon a few more reviewers from the heavens above.
Thats awesome!!! So how long would it take you guys to publish a review on a not so popular game or company? Do you still get the game in advance?
The second game looks to be even more epic than the first one!! Plus, PC gamers are actually getting customization to unleash the power of the PC on Darksiders 2!! Yay for PC gamers!
Great job gamespot!!! You saved me about 3-4 days of straight gameplay to refresh my take on Darksiders... and for that I salute you.
My only concern with the game (hopefully im wrong)...I'm hoping that the game isn't too easy..regardless of what difficulty level you put it on...like in Skyrim (once your like a level 80..your unstoppable, regardless of how many enemy AI there are). Has anyone heard about the difficulty level for DS 2????
@monks99 And what about that journey along the way to 80? You don't start there...
@BladeStrike1234I understand that...but you can level up fast in games...and the AI should be harder the higher you level up...seems in games once u reach a certain level...the AI is a joke....
No, but regardless of difficulty I will not let it hinder my attention to the story even if it is easy which I highly doubt.
It's prefered but not required. You can get all of the main points and cut scenes from the videos above and the developers made DS 2 to be its own story with a new character that has his own problems. So you can play DS 2 without having played DS 1 and still have an enjoyable experience.
This game was really fun and the story was neat. Gonna enjoy the next one.
Thank you Gamespot for putting this on the site. It's been too long since I've played Darksiders and I didn't want to play through the whole game again before the second one came out. :)
That final scene when the other riders meet up with him is one of my favorite scenes in gaming. Dat feel!
People say this is a copy of GOW. But forgeting that GOW was a copy of DMC. I still think DMC is far more better than GOW though (my opinion only). This games actually was more of Zelda-ish kind a thing.
@Sword403 Good job. OK Devil May Cry did come before Prince of Persia if I have my dates right, God of War came after both.
@Sword403 god of war is nothing like DMC. as for darksiders, i think the creators took the epic violence from GoW and the coolness of characters from DMC and putted it in darksiders. (and btw yes i played dmc, gow and darksiders)
I agree God of war is far more simple than Darksiders, Gow is a beat em up where the exploration is off the table (even so is an amazing beat em up), darksiders took elements from it but the exploration and the Horse make it feels more like a Zelda game and other times it feels like a Soul reaver game, an awesome combination if you ask me but even if it's a mix of features from others games it found it's place among the greatest adventure games of all times thanks to it's good story and the excellent visual design of it's characters.
...Or maybe too many good games were out then. I bet now that games are slacking up, Darksiders 2 will do better.
With equal style, better story and gameplay than Diablo 3, I'm surprised this wasn't a bigger hit on PC, let alone console. Maybe it needed to be 4-player co-op.
wow, its been a while since i finished this game and watching this videos was funny.
good game, great story, i can't wait to put my hands on Death... and hopefully the other 2.
haha they made that spider bitch look so easy, god damn that bitch was sooo hard i remember throwing my controller trying to beat her
@CiTizenMaSSaKre Not only she gave me a hard time. I was playing this on Steam and My ISP failed but the game kept running, after I defeated her they diidn't give me the achievement!
@CiTizenMaSSaKre true that :) i remember when i finally beat her, my whole hands had a cramp
