best games I played this year are not even on this list: Black Mesa, Mechwarrior Online
OK so maybe Black Mesa is a mod of an old game, and, Mechwarrior Online is still in beta. Both are remakes of older games,But they have something most games dont: they are hard, challenging, and they dont hold your hand!
gamespot please make it clear on your website where can people vote because i cant find it and i really want my picks to win
I'd like to know the criteria for selecting those games. There some games missing that even thought might not make my personal GOTY but surely I enjoyed a lot more than a bunch on this list.
Haven't played the game yet, but I hope Dishonored wins, if only to encourage publishers to keep releasing new potential IPs.
Brackets are always ruined by those who are ignorant to anything other than what they know (you only know what you know basically) or others who just want to ruin something. I think this is going to be terrible. Look at the last few brackets you've done; some of the worst voting/trolling I've ever seen.
Well I am all for voting but at least I believe the top 6-8 games shouldn't go against each other until semis or something like that.
Have no idea why GS thinks a bracket system will work worth a damn. Every bracket voting that's been done on this site the last couple of years has pretty much been a train wreck. My money is on the LEGO game or Dance Central 3 winning GOTY.
Maybe they are just making sure they get enough comments to support a few months of Feedbakula.
prepare to see a show of trolls...kids...fanboys...psychopaths...butthurts...That never tested the vast majority of games of this list voting/competing/killing like bloodthirsty zombies in an apocalypse!
Here's what I always understand about the GOTY process: Publishers love it. Fans want it. -- Here is what I never understood about the GOTY process: unless you have played ALL THE GAMES OF 2012 - not just 60-100 for a couple hours, you cannot vote for a Game of the Year?! To make a decision what is best, you have to KNOW THEM ALL first?! I played way too many in 2012 (around 50?) - but would never vote for anything, because I don't know them all.
Fez is definetely one of the most incredible, original, deep and immersive games I ever played! This is art in its purest form, work of a genius!
Where's Xenoblade Chronicles? I was actually impressed with a lot of the games that made it in this list, but you missed the best of the year!
Bracket vs Regular voting = Cup KnockOut stage Vs League games... And the League is ALWAYS won by the best team (not the luckiest).
Best FPS: Farcry 3. Best indie game: mark of the ninja/torchlight 2 (tough one). Best RPG: Guild wars 2. Best action/adventure: Dishonored. Best 3rd person action (not sure if category): Max Payne 3. Best strategy: XCOM. GOTY: Dishonored
@Prats1993 Best indie game: Hotline Miami. GOTY: Hotline Miami. Otherwise agree basically.
Things left out: The Walking Dead, Mass Effect 3.... don't know if I'd give ME3 any awards.. but it wasn't terrible.
The Walking Dead is the most memorable game on this list, please give this game what it deserves.......which is GOTY
Lots of great games in this list, but my favorite is by far Crusader Kings 2. It was the game that every other Paradox grand strategy game was supposed to be but missed in some way.
No ME3, no Black Ops II,no AC III please.Stop talk shit about hyped shitty games.I played the 3 of them ,they are good , but game of the years buddy please.Dishonored ,The walking Dead or Journey.
@NIkoscho God forbid someone likes a game you don't!
@saruman354 Also, in which planet Dishonored and Journey were not hyped games?Love them both, as well as ME 3 and AC III, and Walking Dead even more so than all of these... But Dishonored and Journey were also very hyped. If we were talking about, say, Home or Anne or They Bleed Pixels, then we'd have a point.
@muppen absolutely, mine too, i'm a big fan of bioware games, when one of theirs is in competition there is no question for anyone else. The story characters, emotions are all so perfectly blend up............
