Portal 2 Walkthrough

Team Building

Floor 1

Blue should stand on the weighted switch on the right and open the door. Orange should place their orange portal on the ground and move through the now open door. Blue will want to walk off the right button and onto the left one. Orange should now enter the new room made available to them and fire their red portal on the only white wall. Blue should then enter Orange's portal set to reach the floor elevator.

Floor 2

For this first puzzle Orange should shoot their orange portal on the wall on the right and their red portal on the other wall across the water. Next Orange should move through their portals and stand near the barrier. Blue will now need to hit the button and let Orange proceed in the next room. Orange will want to place their red portal in this room, allowing Blue to join up.

There will be four switches in this area. Both Blue and Orange will want to place each of their portals near each of these buttons so that all four can be pressed quickly. This will release a sphere that can be inserted to open the door to the elevator.

Floor 3

Blue will want to set their portal set on both sides of the right column while Orange will want to put their portals on the left column with these gateways placed, either player will want to grab the reflector tube and shine the laser into both nodes. This will unlock the next area separated by an emancipation grill.

For this next room Orange should stand on the weighted button to lower several platforms. This in turn will reveal several turrets waiting behind glass. Blue should hit the switch on the left and grab the reflector cube that drops. Blue should then take the cube near the vertical laser and use the reflection to destroy the turrets. After the turrets are destroyed Blue will want to place their portals on the two white walls ahead. Orange will now want to place one of their portals on the upper wall on the right, and their second portal on the wall behind the ground node. Re-adjust the laser so that it passes through all four portals and touches both nodes to complete the chamber.

Floor 4

On this floor your goal is to acquire the reflection cube trapped in a winding lift maze. There are five boxes in this maze that can be lowered with the left bottom, or raised with the right. Blue will want to set their purple portal on the ceiling of the only open window in the top left corner and their blue portal on any wall to get inside.

Use team work as you can easily destroy your partner

Blue will want to run forward as much as they can until they are blocked by the first box. Orange will now want to stand on the left switch and lower the boxes. Blue should move forward, drop down, and wait on the back floor. Orange should move over to the button on the right and raise the boxes. Next, Blue will want to drop down only once and wait on the black ground right before the next drop. Orange should now switch back and lower the boxes, allowing Blue to stand on top. Once Blue is in position, Orange should step off the button and allow Blue to grab the cube.

Once Blue has the reflector cube, Orange will want to stand on the left button again to lower the boxes. Blue will now want to fire their purple portal on the white wall to return to the main area. Take the cube over to the laser and set up portals to reflect the laser into the node, completing the stage.

Floor 5

Blue will want to pick up the reflection cube ahead and bring it over to the laser. Point the laser over to the first node on the left to raise the spike trap. Orange will want to move passed the trap and stand on the platform to the right. While here Orange should also place their red portal on the left white wall and their orange portal slightly further down this same area.

Blue will want to point the laser at the center node, which will lower Orange's lift but raise another one from the water. Orange will want to quickly run through their portals and on to the raising platform. Once Orange is high enough, Blue will want to move the laser over to the right node to raise the second spike trap. When the path is clear Orange should move forward again and turn right twice to hit the exit room. Orange will also want to place their orange portal on the white wall nearby.

Blue will want to again place the laser at the first left node, travel passed the spike trap, and into Orange's portals. With both players reunited, access to the elevator will be granted.

Floor 6

Either player should fire one portal at the end of the catwalk and another in the room below. Both players will want to enter this gateway as there is a grill in front of the next room. Once both players are inside, Blue will want to set their purple portal on any wall. Both players will need to hit the two switches on the wall to open the next door for a short time. While this opening is up Blue should shoot their blue portal into the open room. Travel through these portals and into the next room. First press the switch on the left to open the door and grab the large disc on the right. Take the disc to the front room and place it inside the drive to complete the level.

Portal 2 is a great game. The levels were hard enough that I couldn't figure them out straight away, but could still noticed the solution after 5-10 minutes. Games like Modern Warfare 3 couldn't hold a candle.

Such a great game, the level design shows Valve's creativity. I wish companies like Infinity Ward would take a few hints while making mw3 and its levels. Modern Warfare 3 could use Valve's "touch", just look how great this and Team Fortress 2 is.

I only checked this to see how many chapters were in the game :P

Brilliant game. Wish I had bought the first one before I played this one, but it's so good it doesn't matter. Excellent voice acting and brilliant puzzles - keep it up Valve!

@ icepop4who: If it's so easy and you don't need a guide, what are you doing here? Hmmmm.... Kind of strikes me as an 'I'm better than you guys statement to me'. The truth seems to be, I got stuck somewhere and needed a little nudge in the right direction.

I think this is a great game. but sometime u have to spend an hour on a single floor in the later levels because it gets a bit hard.but still a very good game

I just dont understand the point of listing the trophies if you are not showing how to get them step by step? I mean its a guide right?

lol this is the easiest puzzle game ever. As long as you're not ADD or something, you don't need a guide. Just take your time with it.

Who writes this stuff? It's "levers", not "leavers"! Portal is the bomb, tho' (GLaDOS made me say that)

Pretty good guide, but for god's sake please learn the difference in "passed" and "past."

I love this phreaking game. Right when I thought it was going to end, it keeps on going! I thought it was more of Portal 1, then it goes nuts! The levels are organic, believable and atmospheric. Look out for my review. Incredible game.

What kind of idiot would actually use a Portal walkthrough? Solving puzzles is literally the only thing to do in this game. It's like paying money to have to read and follow a guide.

Without photos can be as frustrating to understand as some parts of the game. Try the youtube hints if you are really stuck.

If you liked the first Portal, you will love this one.. it has a good story and about 7hours of pure puzzel thinking. Some stages where way to easy and some took me a while to figure out. I also loved the twists of the game. To all of you that have played the game i only say "Im in space!" It was great fun.. Thinking of buying the game for ps3 aswell..

@Maxxramman ... *gag* there are three words I bet no one on this planet EVER expected to hear in a sentence: "amazing" and "will ferrell." WOW! I'm intrigued by how stupid parts of this game make me feel at times. To help with that I went and bought the first one. STILL have no idea how or why i'm blasting holes in walls just to be tested by this badly auto-tuned android! HOPEFULLY there will be sometime soon in the game where the greater meaning is revealed (I'd settle for the point ; ) Its also a little strange that the character you are supposedly playing as is a female. Hmmm maybe this is how a female feels if she chooses to play a FPS, i.e. CoD. Interesting.

@Kos1c & @XsickGamerX10 - It's more than just a puzzle game. It has a great story behind it and it ties itself with the Half Life Universe. I think it's a great game. It's better to have played the first one before playing the second.

@XsickGamerX10 I didn't know much about this game, and i got it yesterday. The game is a huge puzzle game, it's great fun, just sadly it's not as long. I've already completed it, took about 4-6 hours to do. But still one of those titles worth checking out. An easy 9/10 for me.

There has been a lot of hype about this game so ive looked at some trailers and I just cant see what all the fuss is about and it looks quite boring. So i have preordered LA NOIRE. But please if u have the game tell me what is so good about it

@djball They are hardly holding your hand. It has happened to me that I had no clue where to go due to an obscure portal-friendly surface.

@bigkahunabuger portal 2 does not have a singleplayer section...only a game mode you can play by yourself...that shows gamestpot doesn't have a clue about games.

The achievement for the propulsion gel is "Stranger than Friction", not stranger than fiction, like the amazing movie with will Ferrell.

psychowithabow

I would really discourage the use of a walkthrough for Portal 2. Its charm comes (at least partly) from the satisfaction of solving the puzzles, and being told what to do diminishes your experience of the game. I guess using one section if you're really, REALLY, stuck would be okay, but please go back and be sure that you need the help before seeking help.

I have Portal 2 and in my opionion it is to easy, I completed it in 7 Hours. The puzzles are good enought but there is only 1 way to solve a puzzle and it is easy to find the solution. The Story is realy great it has some realy good twists in it.
