Portal 2 Walkthrough

The Itch

Floor 1

Move into the small room and place a portal on the wall. Search the small broken shaft on the right and fire your other portal to gain access to the lower catwalks. Move along these rails to reach the lift on the far right. Keep moving through the area and stop to complete Wheatley's minor test: place one of the sentry cubes on the weight. Afterwards continue forward and hit the switch to release another cube that will land right on the weighted button. Set up two portals to reach the exit goal. Wheatley will have you complete the same room a second time. Do so and this time the real exit elevator will appear.

Floor 2

This stage introduces the light energy tunnels. Start by first riding the light up to the second level and placing your orange portal above. Fire your blue portal on the lone white corner just above the exit door. Ride the light beam to gain the cube on top. Place new portals to arrive back on the bottom with your cube. Place your cube directly under the button and a new portal over the light tunnel. Finally place your other portal under the cube and button to force the cube into the button, opening the door to the elevator.

Floor 3

Shoot your blue portal on the wall to the right. Drop down into the light tunnel and hit the wall with your orange portal. Ride through the portals and when your reach the intersection, shoot your blue portal on the small checkered floor to the left. Ride this new vertical tunnel to the top of the platform where a switch rests. Shoot your blue portal below the cube drop point and hit the switch to dispense a cube. Once it hovers over the checkered floor, replace the blue portal there to bring the cube to your level. Place the cube on the next white floor, as well as your blue portal to hit the button above. The door will unlock, leading to the floor's elevator exit.

Floor 4

Fire your blue portal over the end of the tunnel and your other orange portal in the left corner to create a shaft to the other end of the room. Over here, set your orange portal in the center so that it's directly under the cube dispenser. Hit the switch to release the cube and let it float to the right. Once it can go no further, fire your orange portal on the white panel behind the cube to bring it to your own platform. Now place your orange portal in front of the black and blue target to create a safe landing pad.

Grab the weighted cube and leap on the nearby jump pad to reach the light tunnel and arrive back at the main room. Leave the cube on the checked path and put one portal at the highest point of the back wall (between the checkered floor and ceiling). Now put a portal under your own feet to leap down in front of the locked door.

Place another blue portal at the end of the light tunnel and your orange portal below the weighted cube so that it raises to the lowest white squared wall between the checkered floor and ceiling. When it reaches here, shoot an orange portal behind the cube to have it smack against the button, opening the locked door. Proceed to the elevator to arrive at the next floor.

Floor 5

Place your blue portal on the checkered wall on the right so that it catches the light beam tunnel. Place your orange portal in front of the turret's laser sights to knock it into the bottomless pit. Next shoot your orange portal on the left wall so that it catches the weighted cube.

Stand on the red switch to alter the current's flow and send the cube into the corner. Hit the other wall in the same corner with your orange portal to send the weighted cube to your side. Place the cube on the button and ride the tunnel back to the other side. Now readjust the beam so that it knocks the weighted cube into the bottomless pit. Place one last orange portal on the floor ahead to float to the top and take the elevator to the bottom.

Floor 6

Fire your blue portal at the end of the light tunnel. Next shoot your orange portal on either on the small white panels behind you. Ride this tunnel to the center panel and place your orange portal here. as you ride up to the top, fire your blue portal on the tilted platform ahead to launch to the exit with a button. Replace the light tunnel portals so that the tunnel emits from the center column. Hit the button in front of you to launch the weighted cube into the vertical light shaft. Next, drop the beam by placing your other portal on the same tilted platform to bring the cube to your area. Drop the cube on the large weight switch to gain access to the elevator.

Floor 7

Put your orange portal at the end of the light bridge and your blue portal around the third section of the grill. Hit the switch near bay to launch a weighted cube that will smash into the light bridge. Form another set of portals below to quickly grab the cube. evade turret fire, and bring it up to the main level. Once again return your orange portal to the end of the light bridge. This time look up and place your blue portal so that it's over the catwalk. Grab the cube, hit the jump pad and land on the upper level.

Before moving along, shoot your blue portal back in the turret pit to block off their sensors. Take the weighted cube behind the grill and place the cube on the weight button. Afterwards head into the tiny nook and place your blue portal to escape. Once again place your blue portal over the catwalk to form a barrier and take the jump pad to the second floor, and march to the next floor.

Floor 8

First place a blue portal under the light tunnel and your orange portal on the checkered panel directly near the front entrance. Use the tunnel to float up to the top and shoot your blue portal at the tilted target in front of you. You'll speed through your two portals and land on a platform with a weighted cube. Grab the cube and use it to block the laser beam on the left side of the room. Head back up to the main floor and place portals on the two tilted platforms in the room. Jump on the single jump pad and you'll travel to where a reflection cube rests.

Replace the weighted cube with the reflector and take the weighted cube back to the top. Place the weighted cube on the checkered floor below the red weight button and ignore it for now. Set up your portals so that the laser below hits the laser sensor on the first floor. The First lift will drop, so get on it.

Next disrupt the laser flow by putting a portal under the reflector, which in turn raises the lifts and restarts the energy tunnel. put one portal under the tunnel and the other directly under the weighted cube. When the next lift lowers, get on it and dislodge the weighted cube by moving either portal. Once at the very top, move ahead through the door to reach the elevator.

Floor 9

There are two laser nodes in this stage: The bottom controls the movement of the platform, while the top one disables the laser field in the middle of the platform's path. Align your portals so that the laser reaches the bottom sensor, and let it slide to the left under the white wall.

Once there, make a new portal above the platform to safely land on top. From your new position re-align the lasers with your portals so that only half of the platform passes through the dangerous laser wall. Quickly switch around your portals so that the laser instead hits the top node, removing the danger. Walk onto the other side of the bridge--passed the laser wall, and hit the bottom node again to reach the cube control switch.

Let the platform return to the other side, just under the reflection cube dispenser. Hit the switch and let the cube land on the platform. Once again portal over to the shaft where the cube sits and safely take it to the other side of the laser wall. Leave your portals so that the laser emerges from the second highest white wall and gleans toward you and the cube.

Adjust the reflector cub so that it hits the sensor over the locked door. Jump down to the cube control again and place a portal to wind up on the other side. With the laser bouncing back to the main node, enter the door to reach the elevator.

Floor 10

Hit the switch right in front to lower a weighted cube. Place your blue portal over the light tunnel generator and your orange portal on the white wall behind both buttons. Stand on the weighted button and the tunnel will knock the weighted cube forward. Move your orange portal to the wall in front of the switches, causing the cube to drop and float towards you. Place portals to enter the small closed off room on the left and drag the weighted cube with you.

Leave the cube on the weighted button here and return to the main room. Back at the first room orange speed gel will now be spewing. Replace your blue portal over the light beam tunnel generator and your orange portal on the left wall under the orange gel tube. Stand on the tunnel's control switch and let the flowing gel fly overhead. When enough goo travels over the ramp and runway area replace your orange portal to deposit the slime all over the ground.

Once again move your portals to re-enter the small room on the left and bring the cube back to the main area. Place the weighted cube on the light tunnel controls and set up your portals to emit the tunnel from the right side room passed the ramp. You'll want the light tunnel as close to you as possible for this next step, so readjust the beam if it's too far. Slide over the speed gel on the ground and leap to the other end. If the light tunnel is placed correctly, you'll briskly travel to the exit elevator.

Floor 11

Put your orange portal under the blue gel dispenser and your blue portal any where else to travel to the other side. Once there put your blue portal on the other end of the light tunnel and press the button nearby. Jump gel will flow into the tunnel and towards the entrance. First disrupt the beam so that a small amount of blue gel splats on the lone black floor in front of you.

Next re-establish the stream, quickly hit the button and use the fallen gel to leap into the tunnel. You and the extra jump gel will float to the other side. Quickly get out of the beam and land on the weighted button to reverse the light tunnel flow. Let the gel pass through your portals back towards the light tunnel source. Shoot your exit portal over the turrets on the right and step off the button. When the gel is right over all three turrets, disrupt the beam to destroy all three enemies. If you need to re-adjust the gel's position you can always step back on the button to alter the tunnel's direction.

Move to the other side of the glass and hit the switch to reveal a tilted platform. Place your blue portal at the end of the light tunnel and your orange tunnel on the ground. Float up the tunnel and once you reach the top fire your blue portal onto the tilted platform. You'll have enough speed to fly and bounce over to the elevator.

Portal 2 is a great game. The levels were hard enough that I couldn't figure them out straight away, but could still noticed the solution after 5-10 minutes. Games like Modern Warfare 3 couldn't hold a candle.

Such a great game, the level design shows Valve's creativity. I wish companies like Infinity Ward would take a few hints while making mw3 and its levels. Modern Warfare 3 could use Valve's "touch", just look how great this and Team Fortress 2 is.

I only checked this to see how many chapters were in the game :P

Brilliant game. Wish I had bought the first one before I played this one, but it's so good it doesn't matter. Excellent voice acting and brilliant puzzles - keep it up Valve!

@ icepop4who: If it's so easy and you don't need a guide, what are you doing here? Hmmmm.... Kind of strikes me as an 'I'm better than you guys statement to me'. The truth seems to be, I got stuck somewhere and needed a little nudge in the right direction.

I think this is a great game. but sometime u have to spend an hour on a single floor in the later levels because it gets a bit hard.but still a very good game

lol this is the easiest puzzle game ever. As long as you're not ADD or something, you don't need a guide. Just take your time with it.

Who writes this stuff? It's "levers", not "leavers"! Portal is the bomb, tho' (GLaDOS made me say that)

Pretty good guide, but for god's sake please learn the difference in "passed" and "past."

I love this phreaking game. Right when I thought it was going to end, it keeps on going! I thought it was more of Portal 1, then it goes nuts! The levels are organic, believable and atmospheric. Look out for my review. Incredible game.

What kind of idiot would actually use a Portal walkthrough? Solving puzzles is literally the only thing to do in this game. It's like paying money to have to read and follow a guide.

Without photos can be as frustrating to understand as some parts of the game. Try the youtube hints if you are really stuck.

If you liked the first Portal, you will love this one.. it has a good story and about 7hours of pure puzzel thinking. Some stages where way to easy and some took me a while to figure out. I also loved the twists of the game. To all of you that have played the game i only say "Im in space!" It was great fun.. Thinking of buying the game for ps3 aswell..

@Maxxramman ... *gag* there are three words I bet no one on this planet EVER expected to hear in a sentence: "amazing" and "will ferrell." WOW! I'm intrigued by how stupid parts of this game make me feel at times. To help with that I went and bought the first one. STILL have no idea how or why i'm blasting holes in walls just to be tested by this badly auto-tuned android! HOPEFULLY there will be sometime soon in the game where the greater meaning is revealed (I'd settle for the point ; ) Its also a little strange that the character you are supposedly playing as is a female. Hmmm maybe this is how a female feels if she chooses to play a FPS, i.e. CoD. Interesting.

@Kos1c & @XsickGamerX10 - It's more than just a puzzle game. It has a great story behind it and it ties itself with the Half Life Universe. I think it's a great game. It's better to have played the first one before playing the second.

@XsickGamerX10 I didn't know much about this game, and i got it yesterday. The game is a huge puzzle game, it's great fun, just sadly it's not as long. I've already completed it, took about 4-6 hours to do. But still one of those titles worth checking out. An easy 9/10 for me.

@bigkahunabuger portal 2 does not have a singleplayer section...only a game mode you can play by yourself...that shows gamestpot doesn't have a clue about games.

The achievement for the propulsion gel is "Stranger than Friction", not stranger than fiction, like the amazing movie with will Ferrell.

psychowithabow

I would really discourage the use of a walkthrough for Portal 2. Its charm comes (at least partly) from the satisfaction of solving the puzzles, and being told what to do diminishes your experience of the game. I guess using one section if you're really, REALLY, stuck would be okay, but please go back and be sure that you need the help before seeking help.

I have Portal 2 and in my opionion it is to easy, I completed it in 7 Hours. The puzzles are good enought but there is only 1 way to solve a puzzle and it is easy to find the solution. The Story is realy great it has some realy good twists in it.
