Bobbo888 truth be told most of these go way farther back to games like air warrior and an RPG that was played on AOL at the dawn of the "consumer internet". most of the core elements remain the same. They just redress and package them new. The story aspect and the abilty to solo to the end game are what puts this game apart. WOW in my oppinion destroyed the group aspect. iN THIS GAME IT IS WAY MORE FUN TO GROUP THEN PLAY SOLO... The opption is there ofcourse but you are rewarded for grouping. the way an online game should be played.
@Bobbo888 I love that arguement, every MMO based off of WoW, I have to lmao everytime I hear that. It would be more accurate to say Everquest seeing as that is what WoW copied. WoW came out years after the first MMO's and is the copy, not the other way around. Whereas most MMO's are similiar, at least SWTOR was the first to introduce the story aspect and decision wheels, not a huge addition, but one none the less....copy of WoW lmfao
I can't enter where the Taris Willpower +2 Datacron is, It says Imperial Agents only? :S Plz help!
Swtor is the most amazing game ever, absolutely immense,eeeh..... oh epic is the word i am looking for, just look here for proof http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhpqpbyKs34
I'ed like to note that the yellow datacron from the Red Light Distric on Nar Shaddaa is missing from the Video Walkthrough.
Didnt play WoW so dunno anythink about it. But Ive played other MMO games. SWTOR did impresed me very much! At this moment for me best MMO ever.
@Albaficas Not to mention, I stated that the graphics and story were better. Would you not describe it in its current state as a more refined, polished version of wow? Cos that's exactly what I think of.
@Albaficas If you can't compare them than you must be a little hard on sight lol. Every mmo is based off of wow. I'm not saying that they're exactly alike, I'm saying that they're similar though. It's still missing something though, I just can't put my finger on it. The one thing I really hate is that both sides have the exact same classes. I played a bounty hunter on empire and then made a trooper on the republic and they're literally the same exact class just different names and animations for the abilities.
@bobbo888 And by the way, solo-friendly story-based gameplay is something the first two Phantasy Star MMOs did before ToR and they did it well.
Sadly they did not have the backing of an ultra-popluar IP to keep either of them going forever, and both have died.
With the deaths of Matrix Online, SWG, CIty of Heroes, amoung others, one may start to question the mortality of MMOs.
MMOs like WoW will never die, Everquest is proof of that.
@bobbo888 Do you have any idea how ingorant you are for saying every MMO is based on WoW?
Not only was WoW far from the first MMO, not only did it copy Everquest, but there are plenty of MMOs that deviate from the standard WoW set up.
Phantasy Star Online/Universe/Online 2 is draws elements from rougelike game-play. It's mission style is fairly unique too as everything is instanced (PSO2 may remove the instance element and maybe make it less like monster hunter (which clearly ripped them off) or something). PSO required you to have a party instance just to use vendors.
FreeRealms, Clone Wars, and Super Hero squad are all basically a minigame collection with a bit of combat added in for good measure.
Marvel Heroes will be based on the Marvel Ultimate Alliance engine.
Ah... actually, while the abilities are similar between Rep and Imp classes and abilities- the PLOTS on the other hand are VASTLY different. But, then again, one has to pay attention to them in order to notice the differences in Role playing. No offense to those who ONLY concentrate on PvP (I enjoy the occasional scrap myself) but, imho, if ALL you're going to see is the "arenas" one MMO's pretty much the same as the other for that- so, you are right: if it doesn't affect your kill ratings- to you, there IS no difference.
star wars the old republic is the most amazing game ,E P I C , this video makes that a fact http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhpqpbyKs34
bobbo888 funny that u dare to compare content of a 7 YEAR OLD GAME (repeat) 7 YEAR OLD GAME with a game that is out for a month, seriously? If u want to compare them wait a few years. WoW didnt have the content swtor have atm at vanilla and guess what in 2 days new content inc for swtor and BIG content with new UI coming march. If swtor continue bringing content like that it WILL surpass wow with eaze. Its in every aspect better than wow except the UI lving is far more enjoying, top voice casting david hayter (solid snake)jennifer hale (mass effect) to name a few. best crafting system from any mmo's by far companions full life. This game will be a bomb in less than a year if bioware keeps like that
The +10 to all stats Datacron available on Republic/Empire fleet is not on this list. That is by far the most difficult datacron of all.

@dg3215 They don't need any say from Activision about reviews. Activision pays THEM so that THEY advertise THEIR game. Gamespot is giving them the privilege to advertise on one of the largest gaming sites on the internet. Plus, the review is more than legit. Star Wars is a great game with better graphics and story as compared to wow but has no where near the content of wow (currently). It IS a refined, more polished version of wow.
@Bsgifford05 Yea I've seen them take over a month... When warhammer came out it took over a month.
We're back from Christmas vacation (what a bunch of lazy slobs that GameSpot staff) and actually updating this thing. There are now Datacron video walkthroughs for Republic planets. We will be pumping out videos for all the datacrons, even Imperial ones and those in PvP zones.
Bsgifford05 Posted Jan 6, 2012 4:17 am GMT Ok so I know online games take time for the review to come out but has one ever taken more than 2 weeks? You need to take into account how much advertising WoW does on this site so they need to clear the review with activision/blizz first, then take it to BioWare to see if they can get more $ from advertising than they currently get for the WoW ads. That type of process can take months.

Thank God not everyone is American :) I don't have a war but also I cannot buy a good PC either for the price of a 360 or PS3... jut to reflect on everything below. And I bought this today... still downloading - I hope it'll be a good one. Too many disapointments recently. And PC and console... one is for gaming, the other you can use for gaming TOO, but not what it was inveted for :) Huge difference. Your comparing apple to pear. (If I'd have to I'd wote for PC though :D )
@JPaterson000 Well, buddy, Im glad your an American citizen. Most Americans dont say "G'day". Its a little weird. As for your Star Wars comment, you dont have to be so literal. Its figurative. I know Afghanistan doesnt pose a threat to the security of Star Wars in general, but they do provide aid to Iran and have been known for terrorist activites that do threaten our freedom and way of life. My rifle protects you. If it wasnt for me and people like me, you would be forced to worship Allah and have your life "converted." Which is what RADICAL muslims are trying to do. Not all of them. Radicals. So, yes, you can sleep safley in your little race car bed knowing that I wont be letting go of my rifle anytime soon. :)
@grim0187: Aw, I actually am American, sad to say (dual citizenship with Canada, but born in the US). My "G'day" comment was simply a sarcastic response to your "have a good day" to the other poster. But it's okay, head pats are always good. I'm just amazed you were able to take your hands off the rifle you're attached to long enough to give that head pat.
@grim0187 from a fellow vet who was stationed in bagram 18 months thanks for your service. now let's get back on topic! :D
@JPaterson000 With the G'day comment, I can only assume your not American. You wouldnt understand our military, our country or our values. I couldnt begin to explain something that deep to some child from a foreign country over the internet. Sorry "mate". Maybe one day I'll share it with you. When your older. *pats head* :)
@grim0187: Yes, because your duty in the military is to ensure that your fellow citizens can play Star Wars. Because we all know if the United States were not currently in Afghanistan, that country, being as large as it is (largest nation in the world, right?) and with such pull and stature, that Bioware would've caved (haha?) to political pressure and this game would not exist. Because that happens. Really? You're risking your life so he can play a game? Get your priorities straight. If that's your honest opinion, you're a disgrace to what is already a disgraced organization. G'day, sir.
@Rovelius Sure thing buddy. I might die very soon since Im getting deployed to Afghanistan. So while your safe at home asking me to go die, Im risking my life so you can enjoy Star Wars. Have a good night.
@terminus PC = Personal Computer, NOT computer. So yes, console gaming was around before PC gaming. The average faminly didn't even have PC's until the late 80's early 90's, some had them in the late 70's, but very few. So my original statement stands.
@BuBsay Not sure where you get your information from. Dragon Age was on 360 and PS3 as well as PC. Diablo was also on the Playstation. The Witcher 2 is also still coming out on 360 too.
@Gjinckxs85 damn straight, only reason we dont see gfx advanced at the pace of the PC is squarely due to the consoles archaic hardware. For the price of the original 360/ps3 you can build a system that will bury the ps3/360, 20times over in power and performance, yet game development is confined to the dying consoles hardware. i mean its just gonna happen all over again, they will release another console it will compete in power to a modern pc for about 1month(if that), then be out-dated again for the next 5 years. Moores Law anyone. Microsofts attempt to be the living room Media player will fail too, the next xbox better come with a mouse and keyboard... not clunky voice recog, or arthritis inducing keyboards that seem to be on loan from the lollipop gang....Its a dumb idea imo trying to replace the pc's functionality through the xbox, there maybe consoles in the living room now, but its still alot easier/faster, and more functional to use the net(and ALL its possible functions, not just the ones MS sanctions) on the pc.
@terminus I'd have to agree with the consoles suck, but only on one condition though. I really just find it hard to play games on a console due to the simple fact that even the mightiest PS3 only has "256MB" of RAM from which to load textures. PC's can now handle over 20GB's from which visual textures can be loaded. Now with the combination of pre-installed games to a hardrive, helps assist in this aspect. Though not to a large effect. PC's have and always will be the golden benchmark when it comes to Visual Graphics.
Console gaming has not been around longer then pc games lol.......there were pc games 20+ years prior to the first true console, which came out in 72. In fact, there were arcade games that were out well before the odyssey, and if you ever looked inside an arcade cabinet, what do you see? why it's an actual computer case sitting on a shelf connected to the coin/display devices. Another fact, consoles suck.
TRS-80 = 1977......Pong 1972.....but is the trs-80 even really a computer lol. The first real console would prob be the odysee, circa 1966
hmm i got a TRS-80 (trash 80) about the time the first pong console came out. Of course the floppy bays were empty :0(
Not sure where some of you get your information, but to my recollection console gaming was around long before PC gaming, at least for the masses. I am a PC gamer so I am not bashing PC games, I know I just owned Pong and other consoles way before a PC ever entered our lives.
@ MoreThot Yeah and then there's suckers like me with no money still playing GameCube and the original xbox. Mind passing a little dough my way ? =p
