Chapter 5--Tesshu Mission Walk-Throughs

Activate the Tesshu missions by completing both the Rikimaru and Ayame campaigns. You can also unlock the Tesshu missions by entering a cheat code (revealed in the cheat codes section of this guide). One notable difference in the Tesshu missions is that instead of simply selecting his inventory items, Tesshu must purchase them. Tesshu starts with a sum of money and accumulates more from accomplishing missions. You can also find money throughout missions, collected from dead enemies and from hidden boxes.

Mission 1--Echigoya

When the law fails to serve justice, you can buy justice. Underground groups offer assassinations at reasonable prices, but they only take on missions that they agree would serve justice. This is the story of Tesshu Fujioko, a doctor by day, a hired assassin by night. It was a warm spring evening when Tesshu was ordered to murder Nasu and Echigoya. Both were guilty of kidnapping village girls and selling them as slaves to neighboring states. The families of the daughters felt that the officials would not punish Nasu, because he was a high-ranking statesman. Both Nasu and Echigoya must be killed, not just one of them.

Assassinate Nasu and Echigoya!

Objectives: Avoid the front gate. Both Nasu and Echigoya must be killed. Beware: A shadow is after Nasu.

You begin just outside this small village. There are guards in front of you, so it's wise to grapple onto the adjacent structure. Traverse the roof to remain out of sight and drop behind the nearby guards if you wish or simply ignore them. The easiest, and quietest, way to proceed would be to drop down into the left courtyard and enter the first building ahead (watch out for the guard to the left, however). If you recall, in the Rikimaru and Ayame missions this building offered a shortcut into the next area.

If you decide not to use the shortcut, then remain on the rooftops to eliminate the guards below. Move to the far left portion of this area to locate the gate leading into a tunnel that connects to the next area. You don't have to acquire a key in order to unlock the gate--it's already unlocked. Search the area near the ramp (adjacent to the exit gate) for a box containing some throwing needles. There's also a small health power-up in the room that contained the three jovial guards in Rikimaru's and Ayame's missions.
