The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim Walkthrough

Diplomatic Immunity

Solitude is far off to the northwest. You can get there pretty easily by fast traveling to Ustengrav. Inside Solitude, head over to the Winking Skeever and talk to Malborn. He'll smuggle in equipment into the party, so give him whatever you normally use. Don't worry, he's not just bluffing and will actually bring the gear back. After meeting with the contact, exit outside and Delphine. Change into the clothes she gives you and talk the wagon to the party.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim Walkthrough

Once the wagon arrives, give the letter to the guard to get inside. After chatting for a second with Ambassador Elenwen, talk to Razelan sitting on the bench. Turns out he needs a drink and you need a distraction. Head over to one of the waitresses and grab a drink. Take this over to Razelan and ask him to make a scene. With the party distracted, move over and speak with Malborn at the bar. He'll lead you passed the kitchen and give you your gear. Hopefully you brought in whatever you normally need. Now it's time to get sneaking…if you have the skills anyway. Any bulky armor will easily give away your position. Your best bet is to wait until the guards are done conversing and move to their own stations.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim Walkthrough

Just in case, make sure both healing spells and items are readily available. The guards mainly use fire magic, making fire resist a must on your shield or amulet. All of the enemies are elf casters or melee-casters. If you're a spellslinger yourself, be aware that the elves will often switch from fire to shock which can drain your magika quickly. Be sure to have some time of melee weapon backed up in case you can't cast anymore. If you use light armor, steal a set of elven armor from the guards. Despite it looking like plate, elf magic has actually made it rather light weight.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim Walkthrough

Once getting passed (or more likely killing) the guards, head up to the second floor. The loot in these rooms isn't anything to write home about, so either pinch a few coins or just continue outside through the northern door. There will be two more light armored guards that may use bows or magic swords. There is also a Thalmor Wizard that can switch among ice and lighting. This caster is much worse, so take him out first. Once the enemies are dead, head through the door in the courtyard to enter the inner embassy. You'll have to two more guards, another mage, and some random drunk named Gissur. Due to the sheer number of enemies and their constant magic spam, have quick potions read at all times.

When the area is clear, search the shleves for frostbite venom and potions of haggling. Head into the small room in the northwest and loot the chest. You'll find the quest items Dragon Investigation and Interrogation Chamber Key. You can also pick up Dossiers on Delphine and Ulfric if you want some interesting reading. Head down the stairs on the north and use the key to get inside. There will be another elf guard and down below a lightning caster named Rulindil. The soldier isn't anything new, and even though Rulindil has more health, he can be taken down by rushing him with whirl sprint and hitting him with melee attacks. Switch your shield or other resist items if you need protection from the elements he switches to. When the mage is dead, loot him for some Poison potions, a spell tome of Conjure Flame Atronach, and a ring of minor Destruction among other less helpful items.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim Walkthrough

Open up the chest to the north to gain the Dossier on Esbern. Now just to the left will be a cage holding Etienne Rarnis. Talk to him and find out what he knows. More guards will appear along with Malborn. It's too late for your alley and he'll quickly be dead. However, the guards have the key to the exit, so get ready to fight two more spellswords. At level 10-11 they won't be much of a problem to a good mace thrashing. Still be sure to have good fire protection and healing spells handy. After getting the ket, return to Etienne and move towards the exit. If you're unlucky you may encounter a Frost Troll in the small cave leading out. There is an enough space to simply run by though, as even at this point a troll's health regeneration is a pain to deal with. Get to the hole ahead and re-meet with Delphine. Your next assignment is located in Riften.

Okay so, I don't know if anyone's answered this or not, but.... If the whole point of this scene is to go through all this sh*t & get fighting experience, then discover the horn ISN'T actually there and you actually have to go to Riverwood to retrieve it....

Can't you just skip this scene altogether and just go right on over to Riverwood? Or is something crucial supposed to happen (besides loot stuff & fighting skills) that you cannot miss?

Just someone please tell me if I can skip it & just go to Riverwood, or if I HAVE to complete this part.

Start a new character and in the first house that you can get your first weapons, the NPC that helps you, waits for you to take a key from 1 dead soldier and open the door..... DONT open the door, go in sneak/stealth mode and backstab him as much as you want.... He does NOT die..... I left there with 44 level 1 handed weapons and 100 level sneak. Character level about 18.  I could wait more to get 1 handed weapons in 100 but i got bored..... ^^

+It's only 50 gold to get to Solitude from Whiterun, and if u don't have 50 gold, then u r spending waaaaayy too much, and only doing the main quest

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there meant to be a word wall in this dungeon? This guide misses out on the shout so I was just wondering if this is a foolish mistake or what?

How do you put spells or souls into your weapons? I just started playing the game, and all the stuff that can be done is a little overwhelming.

slipweav2k
slipweav2k

@YariStar find an enchanting table, there you can break enchanted weapons or clothes or jewelry etc. you break these items to learn the spell, after a spell is learned you can use the table to enchant you own belongings, as long as you have filled soul gems, the bigger the soul gem the more powerful the spell will be. to fill soul gems you need a soul trap spell or a weapon with soul trap capabilities, the bigger the creature the bigger the soul.

Do you have to finish the main quests before going to side quests? or is it just better to finish them first?

hmoobpaladin
hmoobpaladin

@lolgamer73 No, you can finish the main quest and do the sidequests if you want. I always do sidequests first before finishing the main story. It's up to you. Not sure if there are any missable sidequests for completing the main quest first.

OK, don't laugh, please. but I can't figure out how to use the PS3 controls to take and then equip objects. Some of them just "follow" me and I don't know how to pick them up. Some of them make it to my inventory but some don't. What buttons do I push to get this stuff? Before you think I'm stupid, I'm not, I'm just a LittleOldLadyGamer that hasn't forgotten her inner child :)

hmoobpaladin
hmoobpaladin

@lolgamer73 You can't equip objects. Only weapons, armor, rings and necklaces. You can pick up objects by pressing X or drag them around by clicking R3.

Hi guys, I just got Skyrim yesterday and it's a cool game but I seem to be stuck at one section in the golden claw part and it's annoying the hell out of me! When I get to the chest at the end of the tunnel where I've slashed up all the undead dudes and got past the spike door and the swinging blades I pull that chain that opens the iron gate over the stream and then I can only go a few meters into the cave and I get blocked by a heaps of rocks in the way that wont let me go any further. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something that I've missed that makes the game do that? Any help would be awesome! Cheers.

where can i find and enchanted armor, or apparel item ; boots , necklace, shield ; etc. enchanted with firewalker that i can break. my character is a vampire, and i need fire resistance on my armor.

slipweav2k
slipweav2k

@jolene26 just enchant your own armor, you have to disenchant something with the effect first(to learn it), your skills will improve, as will your enchantment, the more you use the enchantment tables.

slipweav2k

@jolene26 sorry i didnt read you question properly, there is a theft merchant at the college of winterhold that had a necklace that had 30% fire resistance, hope that helps

Doing "In My Time of Need" quest where I need to talk to Alik'r prisoner in jail. Apparently need to unlock the jail cell in order to talk to the prisoner. I have pickpocketed 4 jail keys from guards, but at cell door I keep getting the message that I need a key. What am I overlooking or doing wrong?

Who the Hell is Drelas and why is he trying to kill me?!? I'm quite a way into the game and don't remember how I might have slighted this fellow, but he surely wants me dead and I can't figure out why.

Papajack55
Papajack55

@Lantazan  Drelas is a wizard who has a cottage and if you find him, he tries to kill you with magicka powers. If you kill him though, you inherit his cottage. If there are things that still say "steal," which they shouldn't, unless he's still alive. I was stumbling around and came across his cottage and he tried to kill me, so I zapped him dead with my shout of fire. I instantly got his cottage. You will officially have another home.

Lantazan

.......maybe because I just went busting into his house on a rainy afternoon, but I remember that guy's name from somewhere and the quest log has no record.

I'm stuck on a side quest for words of power.  The area that is stoping me is a riddle of sorts from "the four totums" or something like that.  the door I need to go through is locked and the only way to get to the other side tis to solve the riddle.  The totums must be activated in order.   Each totum has an animal on it's face.

The animals are as follows:  Fox, Wolf, Bear, and Snake.  (Not Nessessarily in that Order).

The Riddle goes something like this:  The first fears all: the Second fears none.  The third will eat the first  and the forth when allone fears the second.  Again I'm not positive agout the exact wording but this ai all I have.  Could someone please give me the correct order for this riddle.

Thanks,  Game_Bastard
