The OzSpot 14/08/12: Borderlands 2's "Girlfriend Mode," Vita sales

Should Gearbox be called out for referring to a Borderlands 2 skill tree designed for more casual players as the "Girlfriend Mode"?

On this week's show we look at recent comments made by Borderlands 2 designer John Hemmingway regarding Gearbox's upcoming Borderlands 2, in which the developer jokingly refers to a skill tree designed for casual players as the "Girlfriend Mode," and ask: was this a media beat-up? Or does Gearbox have something to feel ashamed about?

We also look at recent comments made by Ubisoft Toronto managing director Jade Raymond regarding gamer expectation: she says gamers expect constant perfection from game developers, and this limits innovation in the games industry. Is she right?

Also on the show: Why do no third-party developers want to make games for the PlayStation Vita?
