You know, at some point there's going to be an executive somewhere that says, "Why are we spending all this money on technology to digitally remake real faces? Whose got a hand-held camcorder? We're going back to live action games!"
On this week's show we look at recent comments by Arkane Studios regarding the meaning and weight of death in Dishonored; plus: David Cage, next-gen, and Battlefield 4 announcement.
Do you think death has more weight in games that give players the choice to kill enemies in a variety of ways? Or does a game need to do something more than that to make players feel like their actions have consequences?
Today on the show we'll be exploring that very topic following some recent comments made by Arkane Studios in regards to its upcoming title, Dishonored.
Plus: Why is DICE getting heat for its Battlefield 4 announcement? Was its timing a bit off, or are players just scared the studio will give up its efforts to support Battlefield 3?
Also: David Cage calls for more meaningful shooters, and the "quantum leap" of next-gen consoles! Tune in at 1 p.m. AEST to join in our live stream!
but the peopl who love cod and battlefield outnumber the people that don't or are tired of it. I'm one of them and there are plenty of others that own their systems just for these type of games. I know a lot of people are getting franchise fatigue....but they are trying...its not like madden
i like those ways to kill and Call of Duty MW was asking for it. Prototype is a example of multi kill forms. bloody dismembering.
My postulation is the future is no console at all. We'll be playing through online subscription services from anywhere we can get an Internet connection. TVs will bluetooth to a controller and you'll play directly thru your TVs Internet connection with a login to a PSN/XBOX Live/OnLive sort of service. It will likely be a combination of a service like Netflix but for games, Playstation Plus, and a digital download service; offering a variety of options for the consumer to play either online only or download digital copy to their own HDD.
@Aria1368 Right... of all my years gaming, i have never uninstalled a game out of disappointment like i did with BF3 (and Origin).
@jeffbordonaro My ignorance? What the hell? Have you forgetting that there is a BF3 on console? How am I ignorant for pointing out that they may be playing on console? (forgot the put in other comment, and how sad can you bo to go to my profile to see the games I have played.......)
@jeffbordonaro Have you ever heard of getting some bought for you, you don't know how long I played those games, BF3 ok a while, Halo I love, and CoD I played the campaigns and a few hours of online (2 max) and just was bored. Halo changes, BF3 changed from BFBC2 but CoD is always 100% the same with a tiny little bit better graphics. You have an issue with Halo? Fine, I will let you have that, you have an issue with BF3, well actually I do now, you have an issue with CoD, well you can tell I do, but if you love it, well that's bad, but I have to accept it. Also have you heard of renting or getting for £5? Or getting of a mate? I didn't buy all my games.
