Stop focus on quantity (we can't play them all), focus on quality. Then, we'll talk.

Great. Another trailer to get someone excited, only to realize it's the same online, grinding, RPG game as the past decade.

Forget Online (unless you're going to do something different)

Forget XIII Part 4,5,6,7,8,9, 45

Forget VII Remake talks (for now)

And focus on a new, innovative, engaging experience in....

Final Fantasy XV

@TyrantT316 I agree with you about ffxiii, ffvii and that they should think of final fantasy XV.

About the online game though, I think final fantasy is a great universe is one of the best to create an MMORPG game. One thing I had in mind lately is with all the money they make over subscriptions I'd still ask more as a client and even more as a gamer. Here's what I thought: You know thoses boring npc's that have the role to give you quests and do so at the same time for every other player talking to it? I though somehow there should be "live" Npc's such as real life human's work as actors in-game to lead you to unique adventures and such and add to the RPG more "role playing" into the game. Imagine actors that start a bar fight, or even more greater role playing such as king's in cities that would ask his highest ranked man to round up some soldiers and raid over demons or typical thiefs clans out in the wild to hunt them down and weather from which city group you are some may not let you by pass without having a fight or so. I do think like you that games especially MMORPGs still need to go on and evolve more, though I still think while being a current subscriber the game is going to be a great one to do competition to any mmorpg out there. FFXIV has it's own awesome universe, incredible graphics compared to other mmorpgs ( cartonish graphics such as WoW for me is such a turn off even though the gameplay seems pretty awesome I can't manage to be absorbed into the universe) and what A Realm Reborn be better than it's predecessor is the overall UI. And yet I do not mention all the awesome events that'll be going on and eventually the PVP content due for 2013.Personnally, I think over time,  ffxiv a realm reborn will raise on top of any other current mmorpg.

Instead of this, they should rather focus on making FF13- part 3, 4 and 5( being sarcastic ,of course)... CMON SQUARE GET REAL!

Frame11

@angeloti83 I agree in the fact that ffxiii sucks, or maybe that's jsut my opinion and the last true game was ffxii if you took time to play it because it was long to start the interesting part of the story. Now for FFXIV you either don't like mmorpg or you play other overrated mmorpgs. So on that, you can go back and play thoses games while we wait for the ffxiv arr. Then we'll know for sure if it's good or not and i'm pretty sure you'll continue on bullshitting on it afterwards unless you suddenly had a change of personality.

quote from Yoshi-OProducer/Director Yoshida here. The assets used to create the trailer were actually older than what was shown during last week's Letter from the Producer Live. Also, depending on the area shown, the lighting, as well as hair, neck movement, and facial properties are still being adjusted. The time period in which these assets were taken was within the scope of what we planned; however, clearly the stuttering of the video was not intended and we're currently investigating this. Today, well I guess yesterday, I went to the Tokyo Game Show floor to see it in person, but since the trailer playing there didn't have any problems, the possibility that this is an encoding-related problem is quite high. I apologize for such a rudimentary mistake, but once we figure out what caused it, we'll be sure to let you know.

I don't get it. What happened to the graphics?

@AQWBlaZer91  @vishisluv7 I must agree I had to step back and replay the scene when I saw their faces, that looked like puppet faces...Though the game is still in development.  @hippiesanta OMG..im amazed square enix made it free?!

it's a good thing but the game quality and graphics looks SO bad  i think it looks worse than FF in ps1

igsmither
igsmither

@maxrang  @hippiesanta it's not free, you buy the game and get a free month worth of game time then it's 15$ a month. (legacy members pay 10$ month, if you don't know what that is then you are not one and can no longer get legacy status)

Breyant

Been following FFXIV since it was initially announced. I subbed long enough to get Legacy status because I'm fairly certain A Realm Reborn will at least match my initial expectations for FFXIV. Will it be where an MMO should be more than 2 years after launch? Not a chance. But at least I can now hopefully experience the game how I expected to on Day 1.

Put it on all consoles as a digital game, give a month free, and see what happens. I hear it keeps getting better, but I need SE to make some money so they can get back to making great games.

Nope, not getting burned by a decent trailer again.  I'm going to have to see some serious game play footage before I even think about picking this one back up.  I used to have a lot of faith in the FF line but after XIII, XIII-2 and XIV I won't even think of picking up another FF without tons of research first.

@horizonwriter You won't need to reserach cause this crap is going to annoy us as it did 2 years ago.

It seems like the game is lagging pretty hard in the footage shown. Bad sign or just bad transcoding?

@sakeyake Its been confirmed that they were using the PS3 version for that trailer.

@sakeyake it looked fine to me, maybe your playing the video at a reso too high for your comp?

sakeyake
sakeyake

@wvtn Interesting, could be. It just seems like the gameplay parts are skipping frames and the rendered cutscenes aren't. Hard to say for sure I suppose.

UsernameofDoom

Well,he's right...there are some framerate issues in the beginning of the video but I dunno what's causing it...

genjuroT
genjuroT

@sakeyake  @wvtn no, you're right at one point the frames dropped pretty bad. Probably due to the high graphics being recorded or something. Not sure myself but they shouldn't have kept it in the trailer. It's at 00:39
