Can someone help? I only had my 360 for 2 months. I was playing lostplanet, and it froze....
Then, I put the electricity off(Yh, I know I wasn't supposed to put the main switch off). I waited about 5 seconds and powered everything back on with the name of god... My 360 got the RROD
Fortunately, after trying again, it was OK.
So, can anyone tell me if this is a sign of RROD coming? I really think it is, and I only have my 'new' 360 for 2 months.
Your safe, the 360 has a tendency to RROD after a power failure, but you can restart it and it would run fine, it would be if this continued to happen that I would be really worried about it. - Everyone with a failing 360 should also inform what model (+motherboard:Xenon, Zephyr, Falcon, Opus, Jasper etc.) they have. Just a suggestion.
- Feb 24, 2009 7:11 am GMTbooted mine up this mourning. XBOX elite DOWN! rrod!

had my XBOX PRO for a little over a year. This weekend? 1/4 red ring & E74 error. xbox wants $120 to replace.
went to best buy and found a new jasper motherboard ARCADE. heard nothing but great things so picked it up while there...
hopefully they have it figured out by now.
question: will i be able to play shivering isles from the old hard drive on the new arcade version?
- Feb 24, 2009 11:26 am GMTThe american 360 is garbage. The 360's break because the material we use is cheap. there is a chip in the 360 that is made out of aluminum metal. In europe and germany, they use copper which has 3 times the melting point making it alot more durable. Anyways ive had my xbox for about 4 years now, and its starting to make this wierd vibration sound, that sounds like platic scraping the disc drive on and off. I turned the xbox at on its side about 45 degrees and it made the sound less noticeable. Can microsoft fix it for free? they have fixed the ring of death about 3 times now..
- Hi, so my 360 has the RROD and I received the white box today. So my question is, will I get the same 2006 model(no hdmi port) but repaired or a new one? I would like a new one because I have an HDTV with an HDMI port and the newer ones got the falcon or the jasper chip which makes the console run cooler due the reduced size of the CPU and GPU. Thanks.

Two weeks ago I received my Xbox 360 console back from Microsoft after it was repaired for the 3 flashing red lights. I turn on my console today and I am presented with 1 flashing red light and the error code E 74.
I can see that many people have been experiencing the E 74 code, but there doesn't seem to be consistency with what I am reading. Some people get the E 74 code and three lights and some with one light like myself. After having the 3 red flashing lights fixed 2 weeks ago and only having 1 light flashing now I don't think it is the more severe version of the error, but I wanted to check on here before considering my next move. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
- Basicly i was banned from xbl like 2 hours ago and ever since i havent even been able to sign into my profile even when offline and i cant recover it, all i can do is sign in to the one on my memory card and i shouldnt be able to do that because it was deactivated when i recovered my profile on a diffrent console, anyone else had a similar problem or think they know how to fix it? I'd put this on the official xbox forum however im banned from xbl so i cant sign in...
- Feb 24, 2009 9:49 pm GMTi finished fixing the 3 red rings...but now i get 2 red rings and the fan turns off after like 5 seconds....what happened???
- Feb 25, 2009 5:26 am GMTYou can tell a Falcon by looking in the vent holes on the power plug side you should see 2 coils standing on edge the other ones have 3 coils

Lol that's funny i've had the exact same sound come from my 360....but ive been towel tricking mine for pretty much a year now.Oh, if anyone doesnt know yet the towel trick(if used over a long term) will not give five days of gaming forever. The time it gives you get's shorter over time.Im down to 6 hours of gaming now.But having bought it used im screwed anyway's so.

- Feb 26, 2009 1:02 pm GMTI just sent in my 2nd 360 that got the rrod. Is it possible that i can get a 360 back with the falcon chip. I know this has been asked before but dont the falcon 360s use a different power supply than the original chip set (which is the one the 360 i sent in had). Do the falcon chips work with the old 203W power supplies?
- Feb 26, 2009 8:22 pm GMTIf you look up the 3 rrod fix and get the parts for about $20 - $30 it has a 90% sucess rate. For the cost and little effort yes it's worth your time. But if I'm reading all the post and info correct all 360 models suffer a 25% rate STILL so I have to wonder if a new one is worth it or go for a PS3. My 2nd one has died rrod and I really am considering PS3. Makes me made MS hasn't fixed this issue especially after spending hundreds on games. Oh and do NOT do the towel trick. RROD comes from over heating due to poor design.

- Feb 26, 2009 8:49 pm GMT
I have looked everywhere and i know this has been asked so i apologize,my xbox had e74 error so i did the add thermal compound and x clamp fix and now that is fixed and it will turn on but after just a couple of minutes it goes to rrod.Did i do something wrong or do i need to do the same with the gpu such as compund and x clamp fix please respond, thanks alot.
Ok If I understand you did the fix to the processor heat sink. Yes..The biggest problem is with the GPU and heatsink so yes you need to do the fix to those as well.
- Feb 27, 2009 6:43 am GMTI recently got my Premium back (took 9 days... pretty quick). Had it 2 years and the screen went crazy whilst playing Fable 2. Looked like a Spectrum booting up was overlaid on the image and everything was green and black. No red lights, but when I callto report it, it sounded like the lady knew what the problem was.
A replaced Mobo and DVD drive later... all is well. Feel better about taking out the MS warranty now. - Feb 27, 2009 10:22 pm GMT
360 launch pro just died. Worth it to get the arcade with all the bells and wistles?

My 360 froze a lot of times before, and don't tell me thats usual? - So I recently got the e74 and one red ring problem.... I've been doing my research and now have come to understand that this isn't counted as a red ring problem and doesn't fall under the warranty policy?! What a load of bs. So due to a problem I have no control over MS will force me to fork out cash to repair a console that will almost certainly break again in the future? Wow, I'm so pissed right now.
