Even though this may be a stale topic i was wondering if unions have really gone and is there anything we can do to bring them back. Recently i joined a union and there hasn't been any activity on it recently, although it was a game reviewing union and writing those things take time. I have noticed that the union pages are in the old gamespot format so is it gamespots fault for not updating the unions or did they not bother because the vast majority of gamespot users don't even join unions. I liked the idea of unions and think it would be awful if they are just left in their current state. I think something should be done, even if its just removing them altogether just to stop misleading gamers. What are your thoughts??

Unions are still active you're just seeing some of the inactive ones. If you look there are some decently active ones like the ones listed below.

Here are a list of active unions on gamespot:

you forgot the Wrestling & Off Topic Union (we started out at level 5 before the union level glitch, then jumped to union level 22 after the glitch, now we're at level 27, and also we now are the #9 union in all of the Gamespot unions, and still climbing)

Okay thanks for pointing those unions out, although i probably should've made my point clearer. What i meant to say was how come unions as a whole are desolate. I see that there a a few unions still going strong (well the gamer planet and wrestling and off topic are going strong the others seemed dead) but the vast majority, and the ones i'm really interested in joining, are inactive. You know it'd probably be better if i bloged this topic. But again thanks for pointing that some unions are still going.

Forgot the Ultimate Gaming Union I've been running the place for five years strong, however yes as a whole unions have drastically fallen in activity to the point where there about 9 or 10 unions that still have people posting in them.

Your union actually looks interesting might click the join button, but yeah it's disappointing that unions have gone downhill. But at least it gives me a topic for my first blog lol.

Thanks, and yeah unions in the last year or so have totally died of. I think it is mostly because people still have hope of improvement but 6 or 7 years on since the whole Union V2 thing happened, you sort of lose hope. I had some members at my union who had been at my union since day 1 until last month, but they had just had enough of GameSpot and decided to leave, so it is definitely getting harder to run unions these days, but at least we have a few left in which we can still post in

Thats a real shame, i mean gamespot has completely changed since i first saw it and im guessing they've revamped the forums aswell ( i only first looked at them a week ago so i can't judge). but if they neglected a part of their own comunity not revamping the unions, then i can understand why some of your members left. But now you have me, a guy who names himself after a loonytoons character as part of your union :S

I was just listing some off the top of my head that I visit. You guys can also look at the higher leveled unions and they are more likely to be active than the lower leveled ones.

It isn't all that bad to focus on that aspect of unions. Not many are active as they used to be but there are still a decent amount you can post in.

FYI, we just beat out another union today

so the Wrestling & Off Topic Union is now the #7 union on Gamespot overall, we are currently the 2nd most active union on Gamespot today

The RPG Temple is still up and running, probably one of the longest running unions on the site, I joined in December 2006 and it's still going as strong as it was then.

I know it sucks that their are only a few unions left that are active. New unions these days fall after a few weeks.

Wow i've neglected this thread, anyway thanks for pointing out these unions, hopefully new users to the site will come across his thread and will not be so disheartened and hopefully lead to a grand union revival. Or just more members for your guys unions
