Noob Servers Question
- Jun 22, 2012 6:44 am GMTHey guys. While I've been playing video games fairly avidly for a few decades, I admit I don't know anything about technology, so I have a question for you guys that maybe you could help answer or make more clear: Is there anyway the gaming community can keep servers for a game going past when the developer gives us? Basically I'm wondering how long we'll be playing BF3 for, and if there's a way the online community can keep going. I know they'll keep making BF games and it makes sense to keep buying the new games and going through the online cycle and all that crap, But hypothetically, say BF3 was the last BF game ever going to be made, for certain. Could we continue to play online? Can the community keep servers up without the help of of Dice, etc.? Any information would be greatly appreciated. If not, hopefully I'll see some of you online next week after I get back to my PS3. -Dowdy2

I don't think so, once the servers are switched off they won't be turning back on.

Xlink Kai may be an option for paying on-line games that the official servers have gone down.
