Firstly: sorry if we offended anyone with the whole penis thing. We didn't mean to! It wasn't a discussion topic in the show or anything like that, it's just something that came up accidentally because we were discussing the Assassin's Creed film. We didn't spend more than a minute talking about it and even then, we didn't actually talk about it in any detail or anything, it was just a few giggles and we moved on. I actually remember being adamant that we don't dwell on it, and said as much in the podcast.
You didn't mean to discuss the whole penis thing? But you did discuss it though didn't you. And you then decided to not edit out the discussion. And you then decided to make light of the discussion in your headline ("And why are we laughing at Michael Fassbender?").
I don't think it's accurate to say that you didn't spend more than a minute talking about it, which is quite an arbitrary timespan in itself, and I don't think you should be applauded for not speaking about his penis in any further detail. So you remember being adamant that we don't dwell on it, good for you. Perhaps next time you ought to be adamant that you don't raise the issue in the first place.
******Had some errors trying to post this, so this is the first part of my response to Lozzicas comments*******

What's wrong with this guy? Do you think he's just trolling or is he really as boring and as prudish as he makes out?
- Jul 11, 2012 8:22 pm GMT
I think we are taking this a little too far, i actually listened to the live streaming version, and its hardly an issue worth taking it to this extreme. They were having a joke at Laura and that was it, its not like it was a whole segment about it...
I don't know what extreme you're referring to? All this is is raising the topic in a forum, it hardly strikes me as extreme.
It's not about wether or not they were having a joke, it's about wether or not discussing the size of someone's penis is appropriate within the ozspot.
Seems like there is only one person who has a problem with the recent podcast.
I don't see the point in making comments like that. Firstly the poll shows that it's more than one person that feels the discussion was inappropriate. Secondly, one of the team, Zorinne, said so herself - and good on her for having some class. Let's hope it can rub off on some of the others.
Further, it's not about wether or not one person or a thousand takes issue, or decides to discuss the issue further. It's about wether or not the discussion was inappropriate.
If it's decided that it's perfectly fine to discuss cocks in a gaming podcast, then great, we'll have more cock infested podcasts to look forward to. If it's decided that it's not appropriate then hopefully something can be done about addressing the appalling standards of recent ozspot podcasts.
Yeah, that's a bit insulting isn't it. Bit unnecessary really, don't you think.
But to answer your question, I'm not prudish at all. I have no issues with anyone discussing the size of Fassbenders cock It makes no difference to me. It's not a discussion that I'd choose to partake in but as a subject I find it not at all offensive. Where I do take issue is when such discussions, which are of an adult nature and not at all game related, take place within a gaming podcast. Simply because I feel it is entirely inappropriate.
Argue with me all you like, but you're not going to convince me that talking about cocks, vadges and bajoingas will enhance the quality of a gaming podcast.

He does this all the time and seems to have it against Laura.
- Jul 11, 2012 8:32 pm GMT
I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I just think it's stupid to make such a big deal over something so insignificant. I find it annoying. Plus your response to Lozzica's post was unnecessarily rude. I don't think we can be friends.

I have it against stupidity and inappropriateness.
- This thread is amazing. Considering GS's 13+ age policy for being a member, I don't see it as much of an issue. I mean if a 13 year old can't handle this conversation then there's something wrong. Also I find your use of the word cock more offensive than the conversation in question. Penis is a medical term and I would prefer you to say that rather that cock please.

I'm not asking anyone to take me seriously. I could care less how you take me. It would be nice though if you could address the thread topic or keep your insulting comments to yourself.

Oh. Congrats.
- Jul 11, 2012 9:42 pm GMTdavedrastic, you have made a point that constitutes subjectivity on behalf of the listener. I understand precisely why you may find it inappropriate however surely you can understand that as it a question of taste, why some would find it to not be a problem. Your poll as posed (like most polls) is too easy to get the results you're trying to achieve. Is it appropriate for them to discuss penis size on a gaming podcast? Probably not. Is it appropriate to make a couple of suggestive jokes referencing pop-culture as it relates directly to the subject they are discussing? Of course, that's why I enjoy their content. Considering the show Top Gear is PG as well, and Fassbender went on there as a 'star in a reasonably priced car', and Clarkson referenced the same topic as this podcast to his face, I'd say it's one of those things that has entered the pop-culture consciousness. To suggest an actor who puts themselves out there like that would be somehow offended if it's discussed is ludicrous. I find it interesting that you would take negative comments so harshly yet are keen to put them out so bluntly to Laura. I guess you haven't read some of her articles or watched her interview politicians on gaming issues. *shrugs* The Ozspot has always meant to be an informal discussion amongst friends type of thing. It would appear there is some hypocrisy in the points you make. Here you are using the word cock on a forum just as easily accessed by 'the kids'. I guess you aren't to be held to the same standards. The Gamespot AU team have always sought feedback from the community they have built to see what people think of their content. Laura asking if there are topics we want discussed is not her outsourcing her role. It is getting feedback for us to request content. How is that a bad thing? How many gaming sites allow direct access to the journos to request content where they actually listen? Not many I'd wager. There is a whole swag of both local and international gaming podcasts that range from serious to lighthearted. If the Ozspot is not to your liking you can find others. Their style has not changed since they started and obviously they have their audience. If they didn't they'd all lose their jobs and the site would die. I don't see this occurring at the moment even with their new "lows" in content. Especially as their team is GROWING in number and content/quality. Perhaps this isn't the site for you fren. There's plenty out there.
- Jul 11, 2012 10:15 pm GMTMichael Fassbender's penis is pretty much a part of popular culture now. Like Paris Hilton's sex tape. Or camel toe. Or fire crotch. Its all pretty low brow, but that's just the world we live in.
- Jul 11, 2012 10:17 pm GMT

Random penis question.
How many times are you allowed to shake it before its considered playing with it? Im talking about after a pee.
- Jul 11, 2012 10:17 pm GMT
Davedrastic if there is any further insults to the level you have done towards the staff, they will be dealt with, you did this thread to be in a civilised manner. Your approach has been anything but civilised after Laura's post. This is exactly what i mean by extreme. She has been kind enough to apologise and ask for feedback, at least pay her some respect. - Jul 11, 2012 10:38 pm GMTWord Mystic.
davedrastic, you have made a point that constitutes subjectivity on behalf of the listener. I understand precisely why you may find it inappropriate however surely you can understand that as it a question of taste, why some would find it to not be a problem.
Yes I do understand this, and I believe I indicate as such in my original post. I also think that we ought not hide behind the excuse of subjectivity. Meaning that at some stage, some one does need to make a determination as to wether or not such topics are appropriate and thereby permissable. Or that they're not appropriate and thereby discouraged. They either talk about cocks or they don't.
Your poll as posed (like most polls) is too easy to get the results you're trying to achieve.
I'm not quatitative statistician, but yes I agree, polls can be highly effective.
Is it appropriate to make a couple of suggestive jokes referencing pop-culture as it relates directly to the subject they are discussing? Of course, that's why I enjoy their content.
It's good to hear that you enjoy their content, but the question of suggestive jokes and pop-culture reference is not the topic of this thread. I don't see the point of laughing off this issue. You seem to be suggesting, as others in the thread have, that yes it is wrong to discuss cocks in the Ozspot but despite it being inappropriate it's fine because afterall we all had a giggle.
If it's inappropriate, it's inappropriate. If it's inappropriate but funny, it is still inappropriate. It doesn't all of a sudden become appropriate because some people find it funny.
- Jul 11, 2012 11:25 pm GMT
To suggest an actor who puts themselves out there like that would be somehow offended if it's discussed is ludicrous.
I'll have to disagree. I believe your suggestion is subjective and baseless. I think Fassbender would have appreciated his involvement in the Assassins Creed project to be oriented around his experience and skills, not the size of his member. But that's not the point, as it's fairly unlikely that Fassbender is part of the audience, and even if he were the show should not be based around his preferences. The subject remains wether or not it's appropriate to discuss the size of his member, and not wether or not he would approve of such a discussion, to which neither of us could accurately answer.
I find it interesting that you would take negative comments so harshly yet are keen to put them out so bluntly to Laura.
I don't like being insulted, I don't know why you find that surprising or particularly interesting. If someone has a point to contribute then great, but if it's just a comment to slag me off with no reference to the discussion at hand then i'm not going to appreciate it, nor should anyone else.

I don't see the point of your comments here. What does it matter if I'm hypocritical or not. The subject of the thread isn't am I hypocritical. It's of no relevance.
Further, I'm not using the word cock in an edition of the Ozspot, am I. No. So it's not the same thing, is it. No.
Further, you're objection to the word cock is purely subjective and has nothing to do with my ability or willingness to use the word.
Further, it's not my job, nor yours, to determine which words get filtered out by the gamespot website.
