Yep can't go wrong with a bit of KOF, although Hokuto No Ken and Sengoku Basara are very good.

I also think hokuto no ken is a great game. But i think the best one in the ps2 is Street Fighter Alpha III, featured in the alpha anthology.

I loved that compilation very nice although I hear the Japanese version is better. Also just another suggestion but what about World Heroes Gorgeous?

well... im not really a world heroes fan, but i quite liked the first games back in the 90s. I dont know the "gorgeous" one yet, maybe ill try it

Recently i played Capcom fighting evolution, and contrary to the critics, i found it very nice, cause it has the trademark gameplay of the capcom games, and very good graphics. imo, its another exeple of great 2d fighter for the ps2.

There are many PS2 fighting games. I can't narrow it down to just one "best" game. These are just a few of my favorites:

    Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match

    Capcom vs SNK2

    Marvel vs Capcom 2

    Tekken Tag Tournament

    Tekken 5

    Soul Calibur 3

    Samurai Shodown Anthology

    Darkstalkers Collection

    Saint Seiya: The Hades

Street Fighter III: Third Strike is the one I play the most, so I'm going with that.

I know not everyone gets into this series, but I love Samurai Shodown Collection. Really wish they would release the Last Blade games on PSN or something because I lost my Dreamcast copy years ago

Garou is an amazing game it really is, but I think SF3TS just pips it, although its a close contest and one I wouldn't want to judge lol

Capcom vs SNK 2, and the SF Anniversary collection (for SF Alpha 3 and SF3:TS) for me. KoF 2002 was another favorite of mine as well.

Was Garou MotW ever released for the PS2?

I think they're both equal in terms of quality but I don't know anyone who plays MOTW lol.
