- "Almost, but not quite"
Forza series in general is overrated. For the following reasons
courses: There's only 2 real life courses I care about which are tsukaba and suzuka. Some fictional courses that are reasonable but they could of gave us way better real courses.
Car list: it's got ferarris which is awesome. Missing my beloved SA22 1st gen RX-7's which is fail.
realism: This game is supposed to be a sim. The fact xbox 360 doesn't allow support for logitech wheels is a shame. MS wheel can't even turn 900 degree or have a clutch or shifter. Fanatec sucks, and you can ask any drifter, he'll agree.
Physics is about 100Xs better than GT4. It's still behind PC games like LFS, Richard burns rally, etc, and ps2 games like TXRD2/Kaido3, and enthusia. It feels floaty, and super easy to drift with all assists off and any RWD vehicle unless you go for high angle, since it has the GT4 style auto spin thing, to a much lesser degree. The main highlight, is that you can damage your engine by mis-shifting.
Graphics: Pretty good. Visual customization system has potential but takes too much time to learn. They should of combined it with the C1GP system. There's no way to just import a jpeg file as a decal to make things easy.
Sound: no in game music but that's not a problem, since you can get an mp3 player, and in game music is often mediocre. Engine sounds are nice.
Online support: doesn't seem like theres many good servers I like if any.
Other notes: Drive train modifications is real cool. Not being able to unbalance tires and rims was of a dissapointment. I've tried forza 3. it doesnt seem to offer much other than the ability to clutch.
Lasting appeal: This game seems to get boring easily, so I go back to playing TXRD2, LFS and Rfactor. Career mode would last awhile if you get into it. I just play occasionally.
Value: I guess it's a good value since it's old, and Forza 3 is out. making it about $5
