Time for a prequel to the original "Gears of War" trilogy!

A new Gears game. I really admire the visual presentation of every Gears game. I wonder how this one will turn out gameplay-wise and how the narrative will be dissected.

Gears always fills the gaps for me in the 3rd person shooter genre.

@emptycow I really hope this is true. I am still kind of dissapointed that no new hardware was announced though.

I could never get enough of Gears. They could release one every year and I'd be happy as a pig in _hit.

Meh, hard to get excited about another Gears title. I've enjoyed all 3 that have been released, but it's a done series. I'm more interested in how two games, within a year-ish period, have used Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drum as the soundtrack to their trailer. And out of nowhere, I might add. I prefer Pet, myself...

@MagnusXilorius Pet is definitely better, but I don't think it would suit a trailer like this as well as CBLS. Which was the other game by the way?

Ya, good job ripping off Rage's commercial with the same song. In fact, the Rage commercial was WAY BETTER. Crappy job... Not excited.

How does my post indicate I am mad? I love gears, but I would think that they have enough creative power and enough sense to create an "original commercial."  And Rage did not suck. It did well, the story was off a little, but the gameplay and controls were good. There's even a sequel coming out.

No I played all of Rage and I have to say it sucked, It was way to easy. All you needed was that stupid boomerang.

Gears of War is one of those franchises that have been institutionalized into the market.  The latitude the developers have with Gears of War and the direction they can take the franchise has become extremely broad.  The developers would have to radically change the gameplay, like make it a tower defense game, before it would become unprofitable.  There obviously isn't much we know about the game as of now.  As more is revealed in the coming months, some may scoff at whatever direction they took with the story.  Others may convey contention with other content elements, but fact is, its Gears of F'ing War.  I must have.

Other notable franchises that have achieved such grandeur in the market have been Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, Halo, God of War, Call of Duty, Metal Gear, Castlevania, to name a few.  As details are revealed for the new entries in these series, there will probably be a lot of conjecture between fans in the forums over elements that may be distasteful.  In reality, all of these games are must haves...even if they become something different than what we first grew to love.  Maybe I feel this way because I'm a completionist and view my gaming library as a collection rather than mere entertainment and refuse to miss a release from these franchises.  But let's be honest, this game and all the others mentioned are going to be downright fun.  Isn't that what we, as gamers, demand?  More often than not, the important developers know this...and deliver.

Did anyone notice the spelling error in the trailer on Judgement, they spelt it "Judgment". I hope its intentional lol.
