The Peferct Game for XBLA

  • Posted Jul 11, 2010 7:40 pm GMT
A simple addictive game that does everything right. The controls are smooth, the graphics are awesome, and the challenge never ends. It makes the quest for a new high score into legendary fun. This is what XBLA was made for.
As waves and waves of enemies appear on screen you must constantly shoot and maneuver your way to a higher score by raking up bonuses for longevity. The game play is smooth, and you never feel as if you cannot escape the overwhelming odds being tossed your way. The gameplay presents varied types of enemies that all act in specific ways. Each enemy is easily identified by both color and shape making it possible for a good player to plan their attacks based on how the on screen enemies will behave. Smart bombs are an easy way out when the on-screen enemies appear overwhelming, but be careful and use them strategically because they are limited.
I haven't had this much fun with such a simple concept since Pac-Man was released in the early 80's. If you have a 360 I defiantly recommend this game.

  1. The saving grace of GW:RE lies in its aesthetic appeal that tries to hide what is otherwise a fairly unremarkable title.
