God of War: Ghost of Sparta Video Review

Deimos! Such a cool addition to the franchise. 

Did anyone dare to play "God Mode"? i finished 80% of the Game and still playing.... its fucking amazing on how intense on this difficulty! :)

No reason to give this game an 8. It's an amazing graphical achievement, and a different, more touching story than other GOW games, should earn it at least a 8.7, IMHO.

I only played and can only compare it to GoW 2 but I tried the demo and it was awesome.Controls are great and graphics are impresive for a Psp game.I'm not a big fan but it seem to be a very good game to play on the go.Its probably quite short due to UMD's limitation but hey you cant have everything :-)

ive recently bought a psp and im playing gta chinatown wars as my first psp game and im enjoying it. i think they should make ico and soc for the psp as well or at least on the new vita as i think it would sell.

I was watching this review now that this game was ported for the PS3 and I'm willing to get it too. What's funny about these reviews, this one and Chains of Olympus one, is that God Of War games are unique, you have nothing equal being released in any other platform. Even EA tried to do something similar with Dante's Inferno and didn't get too close. The reviewer says this game is jaw dropping, not just that, we could keep listing tons of incredible and unique features of this game, and at the end they get 8.0 and 8.5... until someone else release a game that is just as good or better than GoW, I think these games could receive much higher grades. I'm sure for most of us, we'll keep playing this game as if it scored 10.

Is it just me or does it seem like McShea's reviews tend be more favorable to games with more kiddie themes? He's always raving about Rare and platformers...and I agree with what was said below, why was this game criticized for being more of the same? Look at what Modern Warfare 2, World at War, and Black Ops got...

@Uchchash you made a big mistake, you yourself said that you didnt buy the game instead you download it. how come people buy PSP and dont have a money to buy the real game?

I preferred chains of olympus than this but i also agree with the majority its not a bad move to put more of the same thing especially if it is a good thing that catches peoples attention very quickly.

I don't get why this is criticized for being just like other God of War games. They were nearly-perfect, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

this game is one of the best game on the psp the graphics and the gameplay is amazing and u all know it

@botroo3 If you think I'm not speakin' with sense, which I clearly am, then I really don't know what else to say. You're fighting over a perfectly good rating. Isn't that enough to come to the conclusion that people like you are ****** in the head? I didn't say Chains of Olympus had a longer campaign than GoS. GoS as a game, was generally shorter than what one would expect from a PSP game. I was simply stating that the game has enough issues to make it an 8, GameSpot isn't just dishin' out perfect scores just cause whatever game they're reviewing is a big, hyped-up one with a large fanbase.

@x-2tha You are 100% correct! I've been playing Ghost of Sparta ever since I bought on Nov. 2, which is rare that I buy games from Wal-Mart. It's some much better than Chains of Olympus, that I actually tried going back playing that game for only 15 minutes before I went back to Ghost of Sparta! With that being said, I think I've had my full of God of War for now!

@TxtBin can you please explain to us the " ****** in the head people" how come Chains of Olympus is better than Ghost of Sparta?...saying GoS is short and CoO is better is a prove that you are the one ****** in your head,or didn't play either CoO nor GoS.

Are you people all ****** in the head? The film got an 8 not a freakin' 3 or 4. Raising the mark from 8 to 9 is like saying 'Hey its an 8, which is nowhere near high enough to convince a gamer to purchase it so why not make it 9!?; It's stupid - this game isn't as good as Chains of Olympus and wouldn't make sense to be a 9 when Olympus itself got an 8.5. Ghost of Sparta also has issues, plus the campaign isn't too long. I think an 8 is an incredible score and this game definitely deserves an 8 and only an 8.

Wait. According to watching this review, Im having trouble working out how this only got an 8? A 9-9.5 I would say.

He said the boss fights were too easy. Maybe he should play on a harder difficulty. I played on Hard and died quite a lot. Not just fighting the bosses either. I never had an issue with the controls. Complaining about having to press L and R rapidly is just stupid. Maybe Mr McShea should work on his coordination before he reviews any more games. There were times when I lost sight of Kratos during a big fight and couldn't tell what was happening but IMO it wasn't such a prevalent problem that it should detract from the final score. Ghost of Sparta deserved a 9.5-10 IMO. Seriously, it's the best game on the PSP and it should have a score that reflects that.

i don't usually b**ch about gamespot's reviews but..come on this game makes other PSP games looks like sh*t and its by far the best looking game on the PSP and it delivers the exact same GoW experience as the home console versions and its not short like CoO...giving this game same score as Half-Minute Hero is simply stupid.

My problem with God of War is Kratos.He's the face of PS3 instead of more deserving Heros like Uncharteds' Francis Drake or infamous' Cole McGrath

The BEST looking handheld game ever? Fantastic fine tuned gameplay, touching story moments, wonderful production values......this review describes a game in the upper 9's does it not?

iPhone games? pffft true gamers use buttons. That being said this certainly looks pretty and the production values are phenomenon for a 6 year old console!

It's funny how Gamespot give this an 8.0 and act like it has a few problems. It is a marvel on the psp. Probably the best portable game available. 'nuff said.

lol you guys are too sensitive. 8/10 is still an unbeleiveable score. And if you have already played the game and LOVED it, maybe your opinion is more valued than listening to the reviewers... Im sold though!

negatives: Does little to differentiate itself from other God Of War games Mr. Tom. Is this not God of War or this a "God of War Wanna be"? We love God of War experience for what it is and what has always been. Why does this have to be different? If you expect it to be different perhaps it should be called "not God of war". The plot is in line with other God of War games though slightly getting off the main plot. However the experience is the same beloved gameplay that has made God of War what it is: God of War. So for you to state that point as a negative is mere nonsensical. And in My opinion (and many others including you will agree), Ghost of Sparta is one of the best if not "the" best graphically stunning experience on any handheld for that matter!. I personally don't see what graphical glitches you experienced. I had so much fun playing, if there was which i don't think i saw any, I wouldn't notice because i was not detracted in any way for the experience. And if that is the case such trivialities will be regarded as minor. Summary: Your criticism is unfounded, trivial and nonsensical. I don't care about rating numbers since your credibility is in question for reviewing. God of War: Ghost of Sparta is an outstanding experience that should not be missed and this is coming from a God of War non-fan.

@Tokinblckgie Aw, man! You might have just pushed me to finally go out and buy it. I've been mulling over that purchase for days.

@Egotte I wasn't too big on the demo myslef, but I was blown away by the full game. It just gets better as it goes on.

Whether you like Kratos or not, this is a remarkable achievement for the PSP. I got to finally play the demo last night and it's riveting from start to finish, and it feels like I'm playing a console game.

Seriously. New Vegas is the BEST game on earth.
