Gran Turismo 5 Video Review

When I get to heaven I'm taking this game with me :) 

will it be any lack of gaming experience if I were to use a PS3 controller (without any break assist or whatever assist offered by the game, if any) instead of a steering wheel?

Well my dad isn't really into the sort of illegal racing stuff but we play THIS all the time and he seems to enjoy it a lot. Personally i dont think its that great, ill give it a solid 7, which if u ask me, is kind of generous actually, but thats it, nothing knew from all the other ones and i actually thought GT4 was better.

are the cars customizable?

 @Anoush13  I must admit that as a frequent iRacing user I can't say either Forza or GT5 come close to matching the realism of those games. GT5 and Forza are both great games but they simply don't match PC sims of the past few years.

i miss the old rome circuit, apricot hill, test course and ssr11 to name a few...

GT5 is best or tied with 3 or 4.

In this generation of racing games Forza Motorsport 4 is far better than Gran Turismo 5. But we dont know what they will do with Gran Turismo 6.

For all you Forza fanboys that come by and just comment on this video, I have something to tell you. Forza 4 is a great game, no doubt. It's online racing experience is unmatched, and offers lots of fun for everybody, but it's not a true simulator. It's driving physics seems unrealistic. GT5 may not have damage, customizeable cars, etc. but it's driving physics is up there with some of the best racing sims like iRacing and R-Factor. And it offers more things that racing sim fans would like, such as snow and rally tracks, as well as different weather changes. GT5 is still the best console simulator you can buy.

Every generation I buy one maximum two racing games... Since times of PlayStation 1 Gran Turismo is always on my list. Polyphony Digital keep it up.!!! P.S. Daiki Kasho - Soul on Display is reason enough to buy this game)))

its a decent game. Better if you have a steering wheel. I get that point that someone made saying it has no soul there isnt much incentive to it. To be honest if you want to play a good, realistic and fun driving game; get Dirt 3 or/and F1 2011 which are both better than GT5 and Forza 4 combined. The only downside is that they are specific parts of racing whereas Gt5 and Forza are more wide spread. Still vastly better games though

He never touched upon the video section in the game or the museum. Nice places to visit after a tense race, just to cool down and watch some historic content. An A1 game in my opinion. At least a 9.0

awsome game, such as forza, forza 4 is amazing but dont forget that forza wouldnt exist whitout the gran turismo franchise, i got this a few days ago and im loving it

I put the GT5 disc into ps3, and start listening to the jazz music in the music library. Oh yea, game completion less than 10%

After 6 years of waiting, this game was a disappointment. FM4 is the better game now. Hopefully Polyphony will have enough humility to learn from their mistakes, and make GT6 a better online experience with more community integration. And no ugly non premium cars.

@Conra51 Yes, of course it's worth buying. This game isn't only what gamespot is pointing in this video. It has much more and it has been receiving free updates at least monthly. I just bought the game a few months ago, I still haven't seen all of it. I just earned a special Red Bull racing car just for logging into the game as a commemorative car for Red Bull Vettel's Championship at Formula 1. And these type of things happen a lot. This game has been seriously penalized here for having recycled cars from previous games. And it should, they had so many years to develop it and they didn't even need to add so many cars. It's more than 1000 cars and 99 brands, you practically can play with all cars you know and you see on the street. The big and powerful cars are all new, the recycled cars and animations are more concentrated in the old cars. Now the game doesn't obligate you to go through all the licenses. But the great thing of this game is the realism. Weather conditions are great: Day and night transitions, blizzard, pouring rain and these are really beautiful stuff that you don't see in other games and gamespot didn't talk too much about that. For the real racing fans, Karting, NASCAR, WRC, Le Mans events are awesome. It makes the game very complete. In the GT opening it shows a Formula 1 Ferrari and I'm hoping it will be available to play during the game... as I said, I didn't get there yet. But for me the game never gets boring seriously.

the game has no soul.. i cant explain it.. it just doesn't have any feel to it before or after a race your left with emptiness

i enjoyed tyhis game because 1 i love Real simulation and having realiste drinving experience plus i cab collect car 2 the rally mecanic are perfect when you play whit a logitech g25 3. is the racing game whit the best graphic ever made since today even if the 3d is "noramal" (btw i never tried it) 4. that it :)

I didnt enjoy this game due to the reasons: 1. I race to have an immersive racing experience and not for the sake of collecting cars 2. The Rally Mechanics of this software is so weak and unresponsive, I prefer BLUR 3. The 3D gimik is poor and should have learned from Guerilla, Insomniac, or Monica Studios. I mean the 3D versions of GOW Origins is helluva better than the 3D gimik of this console racer 4. This is the only region locked PS3 title I got to play! DLC is region locked, I cant import my Region 3 PSP GT Cars in my Region 1 GT5 title. I mean WTF you Japs are thinking. You should be doing the same thing American PS3 developers do like not Region locking your titles. By region locking your title you just violated one of Sony PS3 core values which is a not being region locked!!!

how did this game get such a high score? :S it has recycled cars (including their skins) from the ps2, it has tracks that have clearly been taken out of the last game and ehanced a bit and the stupid things like almost no damage on the standard cars ... not to mention the awful menu system and the fact that online doesnt even have basic match making ... I'm just struggling to understand the 8.0 when the reviewer gives so many negatives :S

Anyone who thinks the tag 'Real Driving Simulator' actually makes this a driving simulation is a fool. It has and never will be a realistic driving simulation, even back when the game was first released. It's a marketing gimmick for those who cannot see that. If you want simulation try Richard Burns Rally.

its a shame that the devs were so lazy they couldnt put in the effort to revamp the older cars ... I mean what were they doing with all that development time!!!!???!!!???

I played gt5 and its well i would say its not half good

@Forza4Champion damn straight i traded my gt5 got bored got dragon age instead much better..
