It was very clear that Phelps was not trying in that race. I think he got a little cocky this time around and a little lackadaisical. IIRC he was quoted right before the Olympics saying, "Yeah I already got the sundae, I'm just here for the toppings." So he is clearly satisfied with his current achievements and is probably only competing to gain a few "extra" things, like his 19th gold last night.
Although one thing I was disappointed to see was him during the 200m butterfly, or was it breaststroke. I forget, but the guy from S. Africa won (much deserved) after Phelps tried to do his half-stroke move like he did back in Beijing. He should've done a full stroke instead of the half-stroke/glide in approach.
But Chief would win, if only by a narrow margin. I don't think many people quite understand just got powerful/fit Phelps really is.

Yes they are.
Are they good? No. Does that make the Olympics bad? No.
No one thing makes the Olympics bad. Its the combined things that make it bad. Kind of similar to Halo 4 now that I think of it.
The only real sport in the Olympics is Soccer and that sucks anyway.

The only thing I dislike about the olympics is that its becoming more about politics than athleticism.
Like that rule where only two contenders from each country can compete for a medal, so you get moments where the one country has like 3 people in the top spots, but the person in 3rd doesn't get to compete for a medal while the guy in 32nd does.
Or the stuff where the contenders will go out celebrating getting a medal in their own free time, and be disqualified for it because celebrating is unfitting of an Olympian.
Its supposed to be about the best athletes in the world competing against each other. But instead the small angry countries and China (because its always China) have to make it about shows of political dominance.
Otherwise yeah. The Olympics are fine.
