I've seen some people that are very critical of this game, but the trailer looks awesome and I love the Grand Theft Auto series and Red Dead Redemption. Should I expect a letdown with this game?

It's a very good game. most of the hate comes on the open world side. Even though it is technically open world, there is nothing to do in the world. It is very detailed, though. And It has a long, very good story

It is a very good game on a technical level and the story is great too. it's probably best to not go into it expecting a Red Dead/GTA clone because it is different to those in terms of freedom and the amount of action involved.
I must admit I didn't enjoy it as much as the other two games but I'd say it's still worth 14 bucks.

If you're expecting GTA then you will be let down. If you're expecting neither a terrible nor a 5-star game which is a step up from Law & Order and 3D point and clickers, you'll be generally pleased.
Though I don't watch trailers or follow previews. That way I'm very rarely disappointed.

This game took 7 years to make. $60 was a bargain itself.
What kinda logic is that?

It's the type of logic only smart, empathetic people would get.

Aye, dumb people tend to believe they're smarter than generally smarter people, because things are difficult for them to grasp...

I paid 8 and I'm loving it. It's a slow paced game but it's definitely fun and entertaining.

This game is amazing and definitely worth 14 bucks. Just make sure you watch a few videos of the gameplay to make sure it's your cup of tea.
Also, I agree with Bodeciabust and Cloudhighwing. Just because a game is in development for a long time doesn't mean it will be any good. That's a horrible way to judge a game's quality. L.A. Noire was great but Duke Nukem Forever was crap.

I paid full price for this game the first day it came out and I don't regret it. The story may be linear but it is vast and it is a very good one. Rockstar has always been one of the best in getting the feel of a period piece correctly, and this game does a great job of putting you in the late 40s in LA. Everything about it is great. Even just driving around in the old cars and looking at the scenery is a lot of fun. For 14 bucks you can't lose. It's also a great game if you're into solving crimes and cop dramas.
Do yourself a big favor and don't miss out on this one.

Does it matter? It's still got their brand on it. Although Team Bondi developed it, it's still a Rockstar game. They don't turn out crap games like some other companies do.

I don't even know what to make of that last sentence (although one I did like that everyone else bashes is State of Emergency).
