Played it for the first time tonight. The game is just way, way too much man. It's just dazzling. You don't know what's going. You fall into traps at the most inconvenient times so often that you're almost convinced the game's reading your mind. It's rigged. Has to be.
@gringbot I agree with you. The new items won't hurt you that much unless your in the middle of the group of racers (8th, 7th, 6th, and 5th) where such as Big mushrooms and the Pow block will discourage you if you get hit by it. What I feel is that they overuse the items such as the Lightning Bolt, The Star, and the Blue Shell where it constantly hits in first or anyother place. Especially, when you have a good item such as golden mushrooms, the Bullet Bill, and the star, you lose it because of mostly the lightning bolt.
I'm familiar with the franchise and this is by far the best. Mario Kart: Double Dash(GC) was also great.
I've played this with friends numerous times, and I need to own this game. It's really fun, perhaps just as much as Double Dash. This shall go on my Chirstmas list...
Modnation Racers is not better, bigger (more options) does not make it better, just like GTA:vice city and san andreas, san andreas is bigger but not better. People will never forget Mario kart, maybe modnation racers will be forgotten in a couple of years but not mario kart. @nitzan_z , short? there is also an online function, maybe its not huge compared to modnation racers, but still good fun and it will never stop, only if you want to.
@ GeoffShouldWin Some are from the old systems, if you read the names of the tracks you would know this.
its unfortunate how some places feel like remakes. Like the snowy donkey kong place with the cannon (got it yesturday so dont know the names yet)
I just bought this game yesterday n its a sick game!!! i really liked liked the idea of putting in motorcycles, online, new power ups, and how it includes some old stages 10/10 :)
@Pipluplikeslink I know this is late but I would have gotten Super Mario Galaxy or Super Smash Bros.Brawl
game does get boring without an internet connection because after you beat all the courses and unlock everything and your friends are bored of it you are out of luck
wii wheel is great expirience but believe me wii mote with nunchunk is way more easier to use. i mean i raised my points to around 8800 with the wii mote and the nunchunk. i was negative about it at first like most but it is really better.

this game is great and is my fave mario kart game. the online in this game is awesome. the tracks are great because nintendo also put some old ones in. i give this game 10/10
