Can you use the D-pad to steer in the PS2 version of this game?

I know I was able to, I think you just have to turn the analog setting off on the controller

Yes you can use the d-pad, though I'm sure you have to set it up that way. My controller config. is currently gas x brake square...you get the idea but i use the d-pad all the time.
