Shadows of Undrentide is a decent expansion that offers a few new things to the main game.

Shadows of Undertide provides a solid D&D 3.5 experience while adding some cool content but, has a weak plot.

It will be a better gaming experience if it's meant for mid-high levels instead of from scratch again.

while SoU certainly has its merits, it has some major drawbacks which may scare away some of the original fans.
