- May 13, 2012 10:34 am GMTI think it would a Peach game for the 3DS would be a major success!
- May 13, 2012 10:42 am GMTtell me you're not serious

Big brother is not watching you. No one is. You are boring. - May 13, 2012 12:43 pm GMTWho cares who the main character is.
They could slap a Koopa on as a main character if the gameplay was great and I wouldn't care.

Mercy is not a weakness. Its the strength that separates you from them. - May 13, 2012 4:14 pm GMTI don't really like Peach much. Call me when Toad is the star.
Or better yet, how about we actually bring back multiple playable characters that all play differently, like SMB2 and SM64 DS.

3DS FC: 4296-3066-7290 - May 14, 2012 8:40 am GMTI have to confess that I got SPP for DS ages ago and I think it was the first game that I sold back. It was far too easy, too girlish and too annoying to be played.

3DS FC: 0645-5857-1121 - May 14, 2012 9:59 am GMTI love super princess peach. it's a great game.
^this guy is crazy. "too girlish" really? >.>
And I still can't 100% it when I 100% completed both NSmB's and both Super mario Galaxies, not saying their hard though

I like the idea of playing as a koopa!
I might support that if it was Koopa the Quick... ( or Bowser Koopa ) ...I do not like the idea of a generic species becoming playable. Toad and Yoshi both have special individuals within the species, so they are exceptions to me.

Peach's dress would be too hard to animate.

I'd think it be cool if they gave the Koopa a bunch of different abilities based on the variety of different Koopa enemies in the Mario series. Yeah, playing as a standard Koopa would be boring, as all they generally do is walk around. But if the Koopa has wings and can toss hammers, throw boomerangs, and shoot fireballs, it'd be much more interesting.
Perhaps you would start off as a normal Paratroopa, possessing the ability to jump like Mario and limited flight like Kirby's floating in Super Smash Bros. As you go through the game, you could find item upgrades that allow you to use new powers (like the ones the ""Bros." enemies have) and you could swap out different abilities on the pause screen. Or you could just come across power-ups/suits that give you different abilities like in a standard Mario game. Green suit for hammers, blue suit for boomerangs, red suit for fireballs, light blue for "snowballs", etc. And if it was like the typical Mario game, maybe when you get hit as a normal Koopa, instead of just shrinking, you could either lose your shell and wings, or turn into a Dry Bones and throw your own bones as a last resort. Either way, you'd have to get a restorative item (perhaps Courage Shells or Koopa Leaves could replace Mushrooms?) to avoid dying on the next hit. They could include a magic scepter as an item found towards the middle of the game or a rarer power-up and have several magic books hidden throughout the game, allowing you to fire a variety of spells at your foes like any Magikoopa. And then they could also include a Koopatrol's armor, either as a late-game upgrade that reduces damage taken from enemies, or a power-up similar to the starman that gives you five free hits before the armor breaks.
Honestly, I feel Koopas have tons of potential as characters in a main series Mario game (or a Super Smash Bros. game, really). Considering how special types of Koopa's can use some of the same moves Mario can (tossing hammers, throwing boomerangs, and shooting fireballs), all Nintendo would really need to do is change up the costumes to match the "Bros." enemies and have the Koopa grow wings instead of a raccoon tail and ears, and they could easily include a Koopa as a playable character in this game. Of course, I'm not really sure what reasoning they could have behind Koopas being a playable character, nor would I have any idea what story they would have for a more unique game starring a Koopa character, but I could certainly see it working. - May 16, 2012 5:04 pm GMTmake koopa a bit bigger, or different from the other ones

Give a good rom hacker five days to figure it out, and I can easily tell you that excuse is a steaming load of typical Miyamoto brand lies.

My point is, the main character doesn't matter.
The gameplay does.

But that would imply that the main character couldn't potentially effect gameplay.
Princess Peach doesn't play like Mario in her game, nor does Wario in his games. Yoshi plays a bit like Mario, but the fluttering, eating, and egg throwing shakes things up. Donkey Kong plays like Mario, but he can roll, can't get powerups, and lifts and throws stuff.
See what I mean? It's not going to be just another Mario game with a character replacement.

The revelation of the official Zelda timeline is concrete evidence that 2012 is in fact the end of the world.

I'm certainly not trying to say that, but when most people say that they want <character> in the game, they usually aren't referring to gameplay, but merely the character that they love.

This is true, and it's really sad.
But I really do want to see more Mario games with playable characters besides the Bros... And preferably that play differently in some way from each other.
No harm in me pitching a character I happen to like if I think they'll be gameplay changers. And to be honest, none of the characters in the franchise, apart from Luigi, has ever played identacally to Mario in their own subsequent playable roles, except the two NSMBW Toads, all four characters were the same because Miyamoto didn't want to give anyone an advantage ( seems silly to me. People are supposed to be working together in that game. But what do I know. ).
