3DS surpasses PS3 lifetime sales in Japan

Why not compare the Dualshock 3 controller with the 3DS then? Lol, PS3 isn't even a handheld console.

I knew this long for a year that Sony it's not so strong in Japan, all your beloved Western kind of games, you know in Japan they don't almost care for them.

And it outsold the 360 in half the time, but that didn't seem to warrant its own article. Yes, we know that Japan prefers its handhelds to its home consoles.  Why the fuck is this news?

Jonathan Toyad next time you write something try comparing two things that are "similar".  For example, one handheld to another handheld. Quit hating. Like you said PS3 came out in 2006  so why are you STILL trying to make it look bad. Just let it go already.

It doesn't surprise me that a densely populated and mobile country like Japan would go for handheld gaming as much as it does for home gaming.  And I know that the Monster Hunter series drove lots of PSP sales there.  The thing I don't understand is what's driving sales of the 3DS...do they have some games for that system that we don't, or do they just really love them some Mario?

And this is relevant how? Households with multiple children will usually have handhelds for each child, where as consoles are usually shared by the whole family. If a handheld DOESN'T outsell a console, it's a POS handheld.

I had no idea so many people didn't play PS3 in Japan that is kind of surprising. They must prefer handhelds if they sell so well over there.

3ds is kinda useless because most people don't even use the 3d option in the long run

Well its Sony's own fault , They should focus on More first party exclusives like uncharted , kill zone , God of War  and the Upcoming The last of us, i think Sony is trying to Compete with Nintendo and Microsoft at the same time, The ps Vita had a great lineup at lunch with games like Uncharted the golden abis , MVC3 Wipeout 2048 then later on with Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear Solid hd collection, but they took a lot of time until these past few months with street fighter X tekken, Assassins Creed 3 and the Awful Black Ops Declassified , when Nintendo almost every week releases a Good title either handheld or console , its like Cmon Pick up the paste.

First, obligatory handhelds are way more popular in Japan due to its commuting lifestyles. Second, the PS3 is the least Japanese of the three PlayStation consoles. Sony has had this huge disconnect with the Japanese audience and that is shameful. Importers of Japanese games love the PS3's region free capabilities, but at the same time, find nothing worth importing as opposed to the PS1&2's plethora of Japan only games. This is where the Wii U steps in. I hope and pray that it will succeed in Japan to stir up Japanese game development. Make it the first truly successful HD console on the Japanese market. Win Wii U, for the love of God please win.

No surprise here. The 3DS is a phenomenal handheld system, and lets face it. Sony has had a disconnect with the gaming community in the Handheld market and even the console market as of late. I own a Vita and a PS3 and they are both by far the least used of my gaming platforms (in fact I still don't own a single Vita game, because there has yet to be a worthwhile title released). I know people will continue to criticize Nintendo, which is nothing new. However, if you can't admit that Nintendo understands gaming then you may be in complete denial.

nothing against Nintendo, but Sony rules no matter how little they sell, their games are the best on the market (OPINION)

Just need the good games for the 3DS and there will be sales.

Gamers love to shoot themselves in the foot. You complain about a lack of innovation in the industry, stagnation, and endless sequels that do little to mix the gameplay up, but then when there actually is a competitor that tries to do new things, you just hand-wave, write them off as gimmicks, and encourage more stagnation. Everyone should be supporting Nintendo because I got news for you. There's never going to be this magic stepping stone where suddenly gaming is taken to a completely new level and we were all playing with standard button controllers a moment ago but now we're playing with full virtual reality holodecks. Change is often gradual and you've got to be willing to show that you want a taste of something new. Nintendo may not always deliver with their innovations but that's part of the gamble when you take risks. If gamers aren't willing to try something different and just want to stick to the same thing then you have no right to complain when the next Call of Duty 28: Black Ops 7 comes out. I for one, am happy for Nintendo's strong sales in the 3DS.
