Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz splits gold

Sega's simian platformer becomes the first Wii game to officially roll into the factory; game features single-player campaign, 50 minigames.

Nintendo fans, prepare to rejoice--the first Wii game has officially gone gold.

Banana, banana, banana!

Though the console's North American launch-day lineup is still yet to be solidified, gamers can be sure of one game that will be there day one. Sega's Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz has completed development and is scheduled to be on shelves November 14, several days before the anticipated console even goes on sale.

Banana Blitz will make use of the Wii's motion-sensitive controller in several ways. Gamers will tilt the controller in all directions during the single-player campaign, in which they attempt to roll sphere-bound monkeys through mazes. The game also features several minigames, including darts, ring toss, and a whack-a-mole variant.

This isn't the first time Sega has taken the honors of being the first to officially announce a gold game for a new platform. Last year, Sega's Condemned: Criminal Origins was the first Xbox 360 game to be officially sent off for duplication.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz is rated E for Everyone and will retail for $49.99. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

    cool. this game should be fun with tilting the wiimote to controll the monkeyball. i look forward to it.

    All monkey ball jokes aside - these games rock. Some of the best E-rated multiplayer fun around.

    I'm getting this one right away.

    Kid stuff............................... Well I guess you can't play anymore games whatsoever Cheif. Because you definitely can't play Xbox 360 because of Viva Pinata, you can't play PC games because of Mozart's Musical Adventure and the various math tutor games for kids...and you can't play DS because of Animal Crossing, you can't play PSP because of Harry Potter, you can't even play ps3 because of sonic. So I guess you are screwed.

    going on the shelf will raise awareness about the wii coming out. and sega is likely to profit from a pre-launch game.

    Hey ChiefFreeman: in case you didn't notice, this game isn't published by Nintendo, it's published by Sega. Plus, there have been Monkey Ball games on the PS2 and the Xbox as well. Nice try though, fanboy.

    when i get together with my brother and sister we play this game on the gamecube and am looking forward for this one on the wii. should be fun.
